Public view tends to operate on a pendulum. If the current public view is excessively to the Left, then it's only a matter of time until it swings to the Right, and hard - often further than it's ever been before. Then it'll swing back Left, even further. Then back Right, even further. Look at the news nowadays, that's all it is, each side shoving harder and harder when it's their social 'turn.' And if you're not on board, if you see things differently, you're an insufferable monster. Currently it's the Left making the most noise. All the 'me too' and 'gender identity' talk, the constant need to flaunt equality and diversity at every turn, even when it's a distraction. It pisses off the Right. People are growing to resent it. And with that, my character sees a populace primed to swing back to the other side - he needs only give a push.
And it just so happens that my character is a multi-billionaire, one of the richest in the world. He's part of the 'You Literally Couldn't Spend This Much if You Tried' club. Perhaps he's not what he'd self-describe as overly chauvinistic, but the super delicate state of everyone's 'My Feelings' politics do certainly bring that side out of him, in an effort to push back. Because of that he's going to proceed with fervor.
He's gonna have fun fucking with people, and indulge his pleasures in the process.
He comes up with an offer, one that's both immense in its generosity and in its degradation.
To any female celebrity, whether she comes from the world of sports, of cinema, of music, or other means of fame, he puts out a press release offering to 'purchase her,' if she decides that she is for sale. It would be permanent. It would be going forward. It would be of one's own will, and would come with signing legal documentation that acknowledges she is a thing, an item, and can be sold, traded, or given regular orders throughout the day, with expectation to fulfill them with enthusiasm. ...What an insane thing, in today's climate. Nevermind why someone would suggest such an archaic thing - why would someone agree to it? Because, quite simply, money. She would have no need of money going forward, but depending on her 'value' at the time of signing, an enormous amount would be donated to the charity of her choosing upon agreeing to this new life. For an A-List celebrity? $250 million. For a B-List? $125 million. For a C-List? $75 million. For a D-List? $50 million. ...Again, it would literally be the most high profile of people, entering into willful servitude. "Slavery," it's being called, though my character thinks that word is a bit harsh for something done consensually, and brands it as 'servitude,' albeit lifelong.
But for that trade-off, so much good could be done in the world. So much more than they could accomplish on their own - and it could be done right now. One quarter of a billion dollars, right now. To the Red Cross. To Habitat for Humanity. To world hunger. To cancer research. To be spread across every animal shelter in the country. Literally, whatever charity that woman wishes.
The moment word of this offer gets out, it would spread like wildfire. Every talk show. Every social media feed. Every text conversation. 'wtf did you see whats all over FB?' 'yeah im watchin channel 2 its on the news' He wouldn't be shy about it either, he'd do several interviews, which he knows would be replayed everywhere. He'd smile, shrug it off and simply state that he's worked hard for a long time to create his products and build his money, and now he's going to enjoy it. That he has an island in the tropics he owns, it's spacious, there's a huge mansion getting its finishing touches put on right now, and he's seeking 'the best quality women' to fill it with. When asked, "Isn't this just slavery? Or a harem?" He would smile and shrug again. "If that's how people want to see it. I'm offering a contract of services, for the next hundred years, or until they pass, for these women to join me in paradise. Paradise Isle. No one has to do it that doesn't want to do it, and in turn, they get to do a lot of good for a lot of other people."
"Why not just donate that money yourself?"
"I do, already. A lot. But the rest of it - this is my money, and I'm gonna enjoy spending it however makes me happy, without apologies."
"Doesn't this upend all the respect and equality women have been working for?"
"Isn't a freedom of choice also part of equality? You'll still have plenty of lawyers, doctors, female police officers - this is an option, that people can choose, if it appeals to them. If you really respect individuals' rights, shouldn't they have the right to engage in something consensually even if you don't personally agree with it?"
Can you imagine the public pushback? It would become the next battleground overnight. Society would be pissed right off the bat, but surely there would be a handful shrugging it off, saying they don't care, or actually don't have a problem with it. Guys especially would be under the microscope if they don't denounce it, but maybe some don't care about that, and publicly say they're fine with the idea. Maybe, tepidly, some girls agree too. It becomes the latest line drawn in the sand where everyone just rolls their eyes, because you're either a 'monster' or an 'idiot' for being on the other side.
And in the meantime, I wonder what famous women would be early adopters to such a socially off-limits thing.
- As far as what celebrities to bring into this, I am pretty open to whomever you want to play, and if you come with a handful of suggestions we can pare it down together. I didn't create a long list of names like most other celeb threads as I'd enjoy this being a part of the brainstorming session together. But please, do come to the table with ideas! I've left it open that they can be of any avenue of fame - and obviously, this would be something where you'd be expected to have multiple characters. I'll be doing the same, between my main character and various NPCs. (For what it's worth, I have a frequent penchant for both Emilia Clarke and Jennette McCurdy.)
- I'm looking for a more journeyman writer, or someone who wants to push herself to step up to that level. I'm not gonna do the eye-rolling stuff in other request threads of 'plz be lit' or 'gotta do multi para.' But I do ask that you bring creativity and style, and understand that playing a submissive character does not mean you write submissively - i.e. you should be just as much in the driver's seat as I am, as we build our story together. When you slide into my inbox, please do so with ideas! First impressions people. xD I can't tell you how many one-sentence 'ya I like your idea lets do it' messages that come in response to my request threads, and if there's any way to more quickly lose my interest. You've had the opportunity to see where my mind is at, so show me your own thoughts on this!
- As far as the 'where,' my strong preference is Discord, though we can discuss keeping it in PMs or a public thread as well.
