Alexander Price soon to be an unlikely owner, of a very unlikely prize. Everything about the events of three decades ago had been unlikely. There was a time when vampires ruled the night supreme, leaving terror in their wake. His father had spoken of the time, a few years before he had been born, when humans had accidentally discovered in a medication for influenze, a drug that would decrease the strength of all vampires, and increase the strength of all humans once they had taken it.

Panic ensued immediately among the vampires. The humans, once again at the top of the food chain started enslaving their former vampire enemies to make them pay for centuries of terrorizing the masses.

A few straggler vampires were still free in the underground with so called 'freedom fighters' humans that believed the newly weakened vampires deserved dignity and respect even though before when vampires were at the top of the food chain they had showed humans no such courtesy.

Alex, as the son of a hunter, was expected to keep a slave of his own once reaching a certain age. The young man put it off as long as he possibly could because he did not like vampires, and did not want one in his house. Finally however, when the council of elders finally had told him he had no choice, if he wanted to prove he was not a Freedom Fighter, he needed to get himself a vampire slave, he wandered into the slave market with his free voucher to 'purchase' a blood drinker to keep as a pet.

Alex went around the market, his hatred for the blood drinkers making it very difficult to choose one to take into his home. He finally decided to suck it up and choose one. He figured if he must have one, he would take one that was not an eyesore, one that he could actually enjoy having on some level, even if he hated the foul creature before him.

He pointed towards the cage where a youthful looking vampire waited for his fate. "This one, I would like to use my free voucher on this one."

"Don't you even want to hear his details?" The slaver asked of Alex, who shook his head. "I will discover all I need to know when I break him."

Cold. Tired. Hungry. It was the only thing Theon could feel. It was rarely any more feelings expect those. Even pain had starting to feel numb even if it was fresh. The thirst took over when the smell of blood became too strong. It did no longer matter from who the blood was from. He got thirsty. Fangs growing long.
The Market was not a pleasant place for a vampire like himself. Then was still young counting in vampric years. He had have his thirst under control for a few decades, but this starving was getting the better of him.
Theon had no idea for how long he had been in the market. All he knew was to not annoy the guards if you wanted food and even then it was not sure that you will get any. Theon tried to be good. He tired his very best, but the for a few weeks had the guards started to enjoy some side shows with him lately. It felt Theon feeling used, bruised and hurt.

The market was almost closing for the day when things suddenly changed for Theon. Someone wanted him! Someone was willing to take him out from this hellhole. Theon looked up at the handsome human. His saviour.

Alex took a long look at Theon. He could tell the vampire was starving, and he really didn't feel bad for the vampire. After all he had been taught by his father Lawrence Price, that all vampires were vicious killers at heart, and that given a chance, if they had the strength they would hurt you and that was all you had to expect from them. That was his understanding of Theon's kind, and he had never interacted with a vampire he liked before. He had met a few he felt indifferent about, but he could not honestly say he liked either of them. He did not expect this man would be any different. He would be ill-mannered and disrespectful and just a pain in the ass, tell him how much better he was than him, and remind him it was only that accidental discovery that had changed things. He just couldn't wrap his mind around anything else, and it would take quite a bit of convincing for him to see the vampire in any other light.

Alex took the collar and chain he had been given by the slave market for his new prize. He waited until the cage was unlocked, walked over, and fixed the collar around his neck, like he was outfitting a new dog and not a sentient humanoid creature. "Come, blood sucker, we are going home, and I do not want to spend another minute in this place."

Alex started to lead Theon out of the market, hungry and tired, and just wanting to get home. It had been a long day for him at the pawn shop where he worked, and he just wanted to get back home and enjoy himself. He might even break his new vampire pet in a bit once he did. If he was going to have a vampire slave he might as well enjoy it.

He didn't mind the collar or that he was being dragged out of her in a leash. Everything to make him leave this place was good enough. Ugly nicknames flew above his head. Theon did not care. There was no reason to. This man might even hate vampires.
Theon hoped that things would not turn too ugly too quick. He would play the role that was given. Be a good boy for his new so called owner. All he wanted was some blood. The thirst was have already starting to get to him. His body was weak. It was not even able to heal simple bruises anymore. Theon was walking behind the man. It felt strange to be walking again. His legs felt unsteady. His mind had a hard time to even connect on what was going on. Still he followed behind without any fuss.
Good behaviour would be rewarded. Theon knew that much. So perhaps he would get some blood tonight?

Alex noted that the vampire did not respond to being called a bloodsucker. He had expected cursing to come or some kind of reaction, something, but nothing came much to his surprise. He was happy as he led the vampire back to his car that he did not try and pose a fight or give him any trouble. He seriously was not in the mood for it. He felt as if he had been a cat person forced to buy a dog. He knew of course a vampire was a sentient being, but given the history between vampires and humans, he did not exactly hold them in high regard or have much respect for them.

Alex led the vampire to the car, and unlocked the door, and gestured for the vampire to get inside. All of the modern vehicles were outfitted with a place to chain up slaves in the back, so he would not have to unchain the vampire and risk him trying to run off or anything like that. While humans were stronger than vampires, humans and vampires were both the same speed, and vampires could sometimes outrun their human masters if their masters weren't paying attention to what they were doing. The last thing Alex wanted was this problem, because if he did not have control of Theon, he could be fined or jailed for it or worse.

"It's about a ten-minute drive home. If you behave I will not gag you, but if you make the drive hazardous I will do so." Alex informed his pet as he got inside and started up the car.

Theon was happy to see a car outside. That meant he could rest in it. Theon took a seat in the car. Letting the owner tie him to the car. He then watched the man take as sit at front. There would not be any trouble during the ride. Theon was so tired, so thirsty. He looked at the man behind the wheel. It was a strict man. Direct and strict. Theon wasn't sure what he expected of his new home.
Would he be fed?
Would he be whipped?
Theon moved his hands a bit. The cuffs was rubbing into his skin. It was not bleeding, but the skin had become sore. He let out a quiet sigh and looked at the city swishing by outside on the way home. A new home. New rules. Theon rested his head backward and closed his eyes.

Alex was quiet as he began to drive towards his house. As he had told him, it was only a ten-minute drive to the house and he had no intention of gagging Theon unless he decided to yell and scream or basically do anything that put his safety at risk. When it became obvious there was going to be no trouble at all during the ride, he quirked a brow a little bit but continued riding until he came upon a very nice house. It wasn't exactly a mansion or anything like that, but it was the home of a rather well to do young man.

He pulled into the driveway, and then got out, and opened the door, taking the leash and began to lead Theon towards the house, he unlocked the door and once he got inside for a moment his tone softened, his gaze softened, and he inquired. "Do you have a name, vampire?"

He blinked a few times when the car stopped. He must have begin to fall asleep. Theon yawned wide when the human got out of the car.
They both went inside and Theon looked curious around in the hallway. So this was his new home? It seemed nice. He turned to look at he human. Theon blinked a few times in hope to get the tiredness away. Was the man looking less angry? Did his voice just change? What did that mean?
"It's Theon, sir." He answer polite. "Eh... unless you wish to call me something else."

Alex looked at the vampire. "Theon..." He tested the name on his tongue before saying. "I do have a certain amount of respect for the fact you already have a name. I wouldn't rename a dog if I bought a dog and it already had a name." His tone got a bit rougher as he spoke. It wasn't downright rude like before, but it also wasn't gentle and understanding. "I'm going to tell you a bit about me, ok, Theon? My name is Alexander Price. My father Lawrence Price was a vampire hunter, as was his father before him. You may have even fought one of them back in the day when your kind was on top of the food chain. I dont really know, but I suppose its possible depending on how old you are. I dont like most vampires. I dont want you in this house, but I have no choice unless I want to be executed as a freedom fighter and feed to the Juicers."

Alex figured Theon probably knew what the Juicers were. They were basically machines where convicted criminals were executed in, and the blood used to feed vampires, so essentially they were given the blood of freedom fighters, humans that dared to try and change the status quo, as their meals, and other convicted criminals. "Speaking of Juicers, I have one of course. The Council forced me to install one so I could feed you properly. I'm going to be honest about something though. I wont be killing people in my execution chamber the way I am supposed to. I expect this to remain between us and I will punish you severely if you put me in danger of being executed for refusing to murder those freedom fighters I keep in my dungeon below to feed you. Also, if you piss me off, or break the rules, I will punish you. Are you thirsty? You look malnourished and I cannot have that. I will need to get you something to eat right away. I may not like you, or may not know if I like you, but I am not a monster either. You will not be starved."

The kind undertone that he human had quickly vanish. He was not mean, but it was clear this was down to business and Theon made sure that the man knew he was listing. The human in front of him was a Hunter. A very famous hunter. Now he was not old enough to fight the elder hunters. He was still young counting in vampiric age. Theon had been with a coven when he was found. The vampires had tried their best to keep things together while the human grew stronger. With so few humans to feed on did they got to feed on their own kind. When the hunters came so where Theon barely living. But they didn't want any vampires to get away. Ever since that he had been in the humans care. He had been a hard nut to crack. But now he had very little fight left in him. So he would just play his card right for a while.

The human then made it clear that Theon was unwanted here. It was just because of some stupid human law, but at least he would be feed. He was going to be able to live here instead of slowly fade away at the Market. It was a bit strange that the human didn't want the Juicers to die, but still he nodded.
"I understand. I will try and feed gently, sir." Theon nodded. The thought of blood was making him smile. "I am starving... please... "

Alex started leading him into the kitchen. Like so many other places in modern human society there was a place to hook Theon's leash, as if the home were equipped for vampire pets, as so many of them would be. Alex hooked the leash up to the wall and said. "You can sit on the floor, or whatever. I am not comfortable with the idea of you being seen sitting at a table as if you were an equal, and people come and go in my house all the time, there is a certain expectation my visitors will have. Dogs don't go on the furniture, and according to the law, you are less than a dog now." He made it fairly clear that he didn't want to get in trouble for acting otherwise in front of others. How he appeared to others was very important to him.

Alex moved over to a device attached to the refrigerator. It looked kind of like a coffee machine, and would provide blood taken from the humans in the basement, and it would feed Theon. He took out a glass and poured some blood into it, filling it about half way. He handed the cup to Theon and said. "I have to be honest, I have never done this before, I don't know how much is enough. You may ask for more if you are still hungry."

Sitting on the floor... No problem. Theon walked with and watched the leash getting attached to another hook. He looked around in the kitchen. This was not look like any other homes he had been in. This was modern, fresh and most things seemed new. Theon sat down, indian style so his new master would not trip over his feet. He would keep himself as low he could for the next days. Theon didn't want to lose this home anytime soon. He watched with interest the man getting blood from the machine. The scent slowly filled the room and Theon's eyes almost became glowing red. He was so thirsty that he when he reached for the glass so could he not even hold it still. His hands were trembling too much. This was not how he thought it would be like. He didn't thought it had gone this bad.

Alex saw him struggle to hold the glass still and helped Theon to do so. He was not sure exactly why he was being nice in the moment, it wasn't just because the blood was hard to come by, and he didn't want to spill it, although this was part of the reason. The other part was he pitied the vampire just a bit for his inability to even hold a glass still. He steadied it for Theon and helped him to drink. "Here, let me help you."

He realized he must have sounded weird and hard to figure out in that moment, but the truth was he was navigating this for himself the first time. He didn't quite know how he would feel exactly or how any of this would work. "If you are good I may let you actually feed from the vein, but not while you are starving like this."

He drank it down as fast he could. The blood was smooth against his sore throat. It was amazing. Theon exhaled with pleasure. This blood was enough to make the worst thirst lay down. Only to make the worse of the glow in his eyes fade.
"Thank you sir." He smiled up at the man. "You should not be giving me so much more to begin with. I will drink it, but too much blood after having nothing for a long time will only make me ill. You should not give me more now, even if I want it and I want it so badly."

Alex nodded in understanding. He made his way over to the refrigerator and started making himself a sandwich and a glass of juice. He moved to switch the radio on so that some music would fill the place and drown out the awkward silence that had begun filling the room. He took the glass Theon had used for the blood and put it over in the sink to wash later. "I appreciate you letting me know. I would have been upset if you got sick from drinking too much and I had to clean it up."

"So, how old are you anyway, Theon?" Alex asked. He had never bothered to ask the vampires details in the slave market, so he had figured he better ask them now. "I know how old you look but you could be so much older than that. I really have no way to know unless you tell me about yourself, or I read your computer files."

Theon handed over the glass without any fuss. He wanted more blood. Wanted it badly, but he knew just how sick he would become from it. Theon appropriate the music. It was somewhat making things less hard. Less awkward. Theon moved to lean against the wall. Maybe this home would not be so bad after all? His owner was strict but he didn't seem to be hitting for no reason. That was good.
"I am 107 years old, sir. That is not very much counted in vampiric age. I am just a young adult, if that makes any sense?" Theon looked at his hands. He couldn't even remember half of his life.

Alex listened as Theon spoke, eating his sandwich as he did, looking down on him where he sat trying to get as comfortable as possible and to not be in the way. "So you are just barely considered an adult by vampire standards, I'm considered a bit older than that by human standards, but I doubt you are daft and understand that things haven't changed that much over the years."

He listened as the music played in the background, until it suddenly stopped. "We interrupt this broadcast for a special news report. Lucas Moore, the infamous creator of the Juicer, has been found in a coma in his great Los Angelos area home. Further information regarding the billionaire's condition is currently unavailable at this time."

Alex listened carefully as the special news report was given. This was big news, the Juicer, a device that dispensed blood taken from condemned human freedom fighters in as they were hooked up in basements of hunters all of the world, had changed the status quo. In the beginning, people donated blood in clinics for the use of vampires, but that soon became illegal, and the blood fed to vampires had to come from condemned humans that had been working in the underground to free them.

People were always trying to hurt or kill those responsible for the creation of the New Order, which essentially was what the world after the flu vaccination accident given humans super human strength, and which had led inadvertenly to vampires being weakened to the point they were no match for their former prey.

"How much do you want to bet that Lucas is in a coma because he was attacked by Freedom Fighters again?" Alex asked, for a moment speaking to the vampire as if he were a human instead of a vampire pet living in his house.

He wasn't stupid. Things would never become like they once were. Theon had been living most of this life alone or in a coven. Now things was completely different. He knew how to take care of himself. How to bite and feed well, but since he was still consider young did he knew that he would need more blood than an elder and could still lose control. Like before. The thirst got so strong that he couldn't even get the blood in him. Young vampires could be dangerous if not being careful.

Theon tilted his head at the news and then looked with a surprised face up at the human.
"I don't know, sir. My maker always said that people with great power always have to watch over their shoulders." Theon leaned his head back against the wall. Trying to recreate the past is pointless. Things will never become like it once where. People should start to understand that by now... He closed his eyes and listen at the music that once again was playing. Music... it had been ages since he had been able to listen. He didn't knew the song, but it didn't matter. It was nice anyway.

"There is quite a bit of wisdom in those words." Alex said to Theon. "I suppose given you are over three times my age, that is to be expected." He said a little harshly. It wasn't a downright cruel and malevolent tone, but it was obvious that Alex was a bit distasteful of the company when he spoke. "Vampire, in a bit we will be retiring to my room. I have never slept with someone else in the room with me before, but I am not about to house you somewhere else on the property. I want you some where that I can keep an eye on you. I may be stronger than you are, but you are still just as fast, as you are well aware, an escape could be carefully timed, and I would have to explain that. I dont want to have to explain that. You are expected to be quiet unless you are spoken to, but this is especially true at night when I want to get some rest. I will be very pissed off if you make noise and whine like a spoiled puppy dog."

The man had got not choice of getting Theon. A vampire was not what he had wanted in the house. Humans and their complicated laws. The main reason Theon was here to begin with was that the human would not be marked as a freedom fighter. So Theon would try to make this go smooth. At least now in the beginning.
Of course did the other not trust him. Theon did not trust the man either. However the thought of getting to rest soon sounded good. He was very tired already.

Theon open his eyes and looked at the man. He nodded.
"I understand, sir. I won't escape and I will be quiet."
Even if he manged to escape so were he not strong enough and he had no place to go. Under this roof he got feed and a chance to rest. Out on the streets waited nothing for him expect a slow death. This was better. Perhaps it was as good things could become for his kind. He had to stay hopeful and positive about this! Even if his new owner was a hunter.
"Could you remove the cuffs?" Theon asked and held out his hands toward the man. "The metal and chains will most likely annoy you at night, sir."

Alex listened as the vampire asked him to unchain him, and made the comment that the chains rattling would likely keep him up. Alex thought about it for a moment and then said. "Well one might think this was a precursor to you trying to run but the truth is, where would you go? Underground? You have it made here, you will be fed, warm, have a place to sleep, and you should see by now that I will not be a cruel owner. I will give you this one chance, to be unchained at night. If you blow it, at all, by pissing me off, it will never happen again, and I will beat you. Understand?"

The human was hoping that he had made his stance clear on this. He realized that if something were likely to go wrong, it would be now, but he also figured that the likelyhood of something happening was low enough that he could risk it.

He hurried up to nod. Theon hoped he wouldn't lose the tiny amount of freedom he would get to have at night.

But things pretty smooth that late evening. Theon wasn't chained up in the bedroom but he knew better then to cause trouble. He was laying at the floor, staring up at the ceiling. Theon heard when the human was starting to sleep deeper. It wasn't until then Theon was starting to relax as well. He was sleeping well until nightmares begun to hunt him. Ugly, horrible nightmares that unfortunately once had been true. Still sleeping did he begun to move, hiss and growl.

Alex was awakened by Theon hissing and growling in his sleep. He wasn't about to get too close, but at the same time, he couldn't have his slave hissing and growling and moving about like a rabid dog in his sleep. Alex called out to him. "Hey?" He paused, and when he could still hear the nose, he called out again. "Vampire?"

Alex started to realize this wasn't going to work, so he got up and moved over to where Theon was acting out his dream, and shook him gently. "Theon..." He said, calling him by name, for the first time since he had come into his home. Alex did it without even thinking, and realized that he was not as cold as he would have expected to the touch. It was curious, and he wasn't expecting it.

Theon's eyes shot up and he scramble away as far away he could get. Hitting his back against the wall. It took him a few seconds to realise where he was and what was going on. Theon swallowed hard. Calmed down and bowed his head. What had happen... He must have had nightmares or something... Had he woke his master up? Was he in trouble?
"I am sorry..."

"It's ok..." Alex said. He was not angry, not like he expected he would be. He was instead concerned. He thought for a moment about how to deal with his worry about Theon. "Why dont you move over onto the bed with me. It's big, and maybe you will feel safer with me close to you, I wouldn't normally do this but you have been behaving so well, and....well I just want you to sleep better, so I will sleep better."
