Been craving a romantic slice of life roleplay with a splash of fantasy on top. Anyone who has seen/read An Ancient Magus’ Bride may understand where I stole this idea. Honestly, it might be a bit vanilla, but sometimes you need a little sweet to make offset your dark cravings, right? If you’re interested, feel free to PM me and tell me your thoughts. If you’re interested but want to change some things, please let me know! I’m very flexible. Allow me to introduce you to the world:
Magic is real. Magic has always been real, but for you, player character, you've known about the existence of true magic for all of ten minutes. After an incident with an organization, some weird happenings, and a wave of a wand, you suddenly discover that you have magical ability. Not even three minutes later, your character was given a briefcase and a destination. Inside this briefcase, the player character found a couple of things. Contained inside were three books, History of Magic and the Magical World by Hector Mordenkainen, Magic for Dummies by Oscar Mountebank, and Wizarding Tutorage: A Brief Summary by Chell Reed. Also, the briefcase included a golden key with an amethyst set into it with runes inscribed along the length of it, a number of envelopes, ample amounts of paper, and a wax seal kit.
"Dear Mistress ((Player Character)),
You have been cordially invited to join Master Milern Bigby's estate in ((address here. I'm thinking either an American or European location)). Master Bigby is one of the brightest minds of our world, and has been deemed suitable to give you tutelage at this time. His duties to you will be to help you properly learn how to properly control and channel your magical ability, while also teaching you of the truths of our magical world. At the same time, you will have to work for Master Bigby as well, in order to pay for his service. You will be expected to help him in clerical duties, assist him in his own studies, and to advise him in becoming a marvelous teacher of the magical arts.
As a young woman, I myself was inducted to the Order in a similar manner, so I can understand how surprising and new this must be. But, I will be frank. Making the decision to study magic was the best choice I have ever made. You will discover a whole new world, and in some cases, things will start to make more sense as you learn about how your world interacts with ours. I guarantee that you will want to pursue this endeavor, but we, of course, can understand if you cannot accept. However, we wizards a quite a patient sort, so you may take as much time as you wish to work through your feelings and practical implications of the matter.
Enclosed in this briefcase, you will find a key, which you MUST keep with you in order to enter the estate. Please keep track of it, as we of the Ministry cannot guarantee you will be able to enter Master Bigby's estate without it. The envelopes are magically attuned to reach the intended audience of any messages kept within, so if you need to correspond with anyone, you may do so. Although, I suppose a normal woman in your world has a cell phone nowadays, so maybe this gift is a little old fashioned... Well, if anything you can always use them to correspond with me, as I would be exceedingly happy to hear of your progress.
As for other matters of practicality and clarity, Master Bigby's estate is just a short walk from a major city ((which we can decide later)), and if at any point you would like to leave, you may by all means do so.
I sincerely hope to hear of your tutelage soon, and I do hope you can accept an old woman's apologies for being so pushy about this. I must admit that I am quite excited for you.
