Rebecca Rogers stared at the few pennies that the group of teenagers thought would be funny to leave her for a tip and tried not to scream. Her patience had already been pushed past it's limits after a heavier than usual dinner crowd filled the small diner well over occupancy and Lita, the only other waitress had called in sick leaving her to handle it all on her own.
With a sigh she collected the change and shoved it into the pocket of her black apron which she wore over the pink uniform that had "Sal's" written in bold black letters across the back and her name in smaller semi bold letters in front across her right breast.
As she walked towards the cash register, Sal, the diners owner/cook came around the corner with a scowl on his pale, round face. "You're going to have to close up tonight for me Becca, my neighbor just called" he said in an irritated tone "apparantly my wife has fallen down again and an ambulance is on their way with her to the ER....Damn Lush." he grumbled as he grabbed his dingy white coat and headed out the door without another word.
Great! Could anything else possibly suck today..? she said to herself as she walked to the door to flip the "Open" sign to "Closed"
Oh shit! she realized that he hadn't left her the key!
She rushed out after him "Sal!! Wait! I don't have a .." but he was already gone "...key".
"Shit!Shit!Shit!" She stomped back into the diner where she could scream without anyone hearing her-
