The world had come a long way from the old days. Yet the one thing that hasn't gone away, hierarchy. They just changed the way they saw and sorted people into it. Any race could be an Omega, they were normal people living your everyday life. They made up most of the population. No special abilities, nothing to set them apart really. Above them were the selective Betas. They were the aristocratic of the world. People looked up to them and aspired to follow their ways. Yet, above them, were the Alphas. Elite in every way, perfection of their races, and very rare. It was very difficult to rise above your status, nearly impossible, yet for five girls... It had happened.
Before they had been noticed, they hadn't known about each other. They had lived their lives and in their own ways, excelled greatly above their peers. Dunnan was a human witch. Most witches could do very small basic rituals and spells, yet Dunnan showed a far greater talent. She had long blonde hair with warm brown eyes. Her light skin was a canvas of twisting black ink stained into it which composed strange depictions and words. She was a natural born leader, whether her ability to rally a group and lead them toward a goal was magical manipulation no one could say, yet she was known to have a way with words. On top of that she was a very intelligent girl... Far more intelligent than anyone else in her village of Widower's drop. It had been a great surprise for the farming family to receive a letter for their daughter inviting her to attend a Beta Academy. Yet they had celebrated and she had flown away the next day to attend the school.
Jet Stream was a mer-folk... Though she prefered to simply be called 'Jet'. She had light blue skin that slightly glowed in the dark. Her fins were for the most part wrapped around her forearms and calves though when she was in the water they extended to help her balance and meanuver. She had long think white hair that was constantly pulled back into a ponytail and her eyes were a sharp pastel green. Most of her kind were avoiding fire, electricity, and metal with a passion, she had a passion for such things. In fact she preferred to stay out of their watery home and on the shore working construction. Along the way she soon began messing with parts and making her own inventions to make things easier for herself. She had always been the odd ball of her people who merely loved to sing and dance among the waves all day. Their seaside town was a busy little place. Well at least for the shore it was. Under the water, they really didn't have any jobs really. Hell she was feared at first by most of the people in town. Her kind had a tendency to lure people into the waters and eat them. In the end she was nicknamed a mechanical wonder. Soon enough a letter came to her personal shop, an invitation. Seeing it as a once in a lifetime opportunity, she ran with it and left her friend to run the shop. Jet wanted to see if they could give her the tools to make her inventions even better.
Madelena and Rosalind were human sisters from a foggy village. They both had light skin and very dark brown hair. Maddie's hair was short and barely reached the middle of her neck and she had big innocent chocolate brown eyes. Her sister had long hair that was pulled back at the sides and had a braid down the middle. Her eyes were calm and almost sleepy looking. Their parents had died mysteriously at their births and they were raised by a church who claimed to practice the word of the lord. Both were brought up to fear the strange and unknown. Yet that never really took with either of them. They enjoyed their adventures in the forest and playing in the night. As they grew older, things were getting weirder. Madelena or as she preferred 'Maddie', had found that she had a certain ability over electricity. She could manipulated it with her mind. Rosalind was an incredibly insightful child. It was scary how accurate she could read people or even know where to find clues or the truth. Both of them had been found to be 'possessed by demons' and 'beyond saving' after Rosalind had discovered the truth behind their church's priest. It seemed the Father would rape the women of the village and when they showed signs of pregnancy he claimed they were carrying the spawn of hell. From there the women were put to the knife. Babies were ripped out and no one cared if the women lived or died. Despite Maddie trying to defend both of them with her powers, the church had pushed through their fears and subdued them. The day they were supposed to be put to death, their kindly caretaker had came down with a letter from the academy. They snuck out of the village and never looked back.
Finally there was Tabatha, she was a elven girl. She was very short and had incredibly long hair but she always made sure to keep it braided. Her hair was a light bluish teal color. She had doey eyes that were a dark green that bordered on black and took up nearly her entire eye. She was born and raised in a commune of other elves. They lived off the land and rarely visited any towns. While many had a bond with animals, Tabatha had a special connection to them. They just seemed to want to be around her, understood her commands without training, even protected her from dangers she could no see... Whether they were domesticated or not. She was a sweet gentle flower child who loved her quiet. Her connection had been noticed and the commune relished in the fact that they could send their sweet girl to a Beta academy.
The five hadn't known each other before. Yet when they arrived they took comfort in the fact that they were faced with the same situation. It had been hard for all of them. Yet they were able to keep pace with even the Beta's.
Dunnan and Jet spent a lot of time together. In fact most of the time they were seen with each other. Jet was in a constant state of doing a project and Dunnan loved helping her. Of course they were also sometimes seen with Rosalind as the three of them shared a love for friendly debates. Maddie and Tabatha shared a love for animals so the two sometimes spend their time together. Of course every day Jet and Maddie were spending their mornings playing some high-energy sport. Then of course when Tabatha wasn't in the garden, she was with Rosalind in the library reading.
Though their lives soon got really hard starting one really busy morning.

"Well now... You don't see that every day.", Jet commented as they looked over the railings at the scene below. Dunnan nodded as she replied,"Five Alpha males? That's unheard of."
Maddie was practically drooling as she watched them. Then she said,"Oh my god! Do you think they are going to attend some of our classes. I hope they do. They all look so handsome! Oh, Rosalind! Who do you think is going to be the ones they date?!" Her sister shrugged and shook her head with a scoff. She rolled her eyes with amused disinterest. Tabatha stepped away and said,"Oh my, its so noisy in here. They got the entire school talking and all the girls screaming. I think I would prefer to relax in the garden." Maddie giggled before she set back to watching the five boys. Though Tabatha like the others didn't really leave and stayed to watch the Alpha's.
While it was interest for a bit to watch the boys. Jet had projects that she wanted to continue to work on. Which she was nearly obsessed with for days. She was soon covered in soot and grease as she hovered a blueprint for her latest invention. Though currently all it was doing was hacking up smoke. She was thankful for the goggles. Currently she had them up so that she could read, leaving a clear outline. She huffed and turned back to her machine as she said to it,"Mark my words your not gonna win this battle. Better machines than you have tried." The rest of her shop class chuckled as she once again was talking to her project. They didn't even know what she was trying to do yet it was interesting to see her work. Above all, while she may not be the top student in terms of grades, she was the most entertaining and creative at times. Jet then once again climbed up the pipes of the machine and soon began her adjustments.
Dunnan sighed as she was tutoring a Beta boy. Then she said exhaustively,"Look, put more feeling into the words. This scene is about firing a long forgotten hope in the people. I want to feel that hope. This is his last shot at getting his people to take back their lives. He's lived centuries being forced to see the dredge and blood his people go through. The anguish is nearly ending, its just one more push away and-!... You come out making them think that they'd rather just continue the way their lives used to be... I want feeling!" The Beta boy gulped and nodded as he looked back to his lines on the paper. She enjoyed theatre, really she did, but right now the boy was just bombing. Within a couple of words she growled and slapped the script out of his hands. Then she said,"You need to learn your lines!" Once again he nodded and grabbed the script from the floor before scurrying off to learn his lines. She turned as the teacher was approaching and said,"He's not taking this seriously. I mean he's the number two guy in the play and he's just pissing it all away. He's supposed to her our lead supporting role and he still hasn't gotten down the most important monologue of the play. He's making me feel like there is no hope." Her teacher laughed and said,"Dunnan, its fine. We got you as the understudy. If worse comes to worse then we'll go on with the lead support being female instead of male... Now how about you help out a new male lead?" She groaned and fell back onto her butt as she focused up at the lights. She closed her eyes as she replied,"Alright, lets hear him." Her teacher motioned over the Alpha boy. Once Dunnan heard him stand right beside the teacher she threw up an arm into the air in a motion as she said,"Alright, c'mon... Let's hear your plea to god that your loved one isn't put to death by the council."
Rosalind and Maddie were relaxing together as their class was in the computer lab. Maddie was preoccupying herself by turning her computer on and one with a blink of her eyes. Rosalind was busy writing an article on the five alpha boys who just came in. Maddie soon got bored with her task and soon zeroed in one two of the alpha boys were a bit in front of them also hovering over a single computer. Her sister then softly said,"None of your mischief, Maddie." Her younger sibling looked at her in the corner of her eye yet Rosalind wasn't going to even spare her a glace. Though Maddie turned to face the two boys with a smirk and a final comment from her sister,"I'm not going to help you out if you get caught." With that Maddie began messing with whatever they were doing. She would bring up random windows or even websites. She would change the words they were typing. She nearly bursted out laughing when she had set the same window to open up again and again until it was just spamming on the screen. At this one of them rose his hands, as if to show he wasn't doing anything, and the other was also making a bit of a large reaction to their computer. This gained the attention of a nearby Beta girl who jumped at the opportunity to gain some presence in their eye in hopes of marriage. She looked at the screen and snapped to look at Maddie as she said,"Maddie, are you messing with it?!" Immediately Maddie ducked down and hid out of view with a giggle. Then the Beta girl turned to Rosalind as she asked,"Was Maddie messing with the computer?" Rosalind stopped her typing to give the girl a dead pan look. Then she said,"Do you really need me to figure this out for you? Besides the computer looks fine to me." At this they turned to look back at the computer to see that it was completely fine. Then the Beta girl said,"You'll have to excuse Maddie. She's a bit of troublemaker when she's bored... Rosalind how is that piece about our newest peers going?" Rosalind looked back to the computer and replied,"It's going." Once Maddie was sitting properly back in her chair and turning to doing some random think on her computer Rosalind said in a quiet tone,"That wasn't funny." Maddie shot back,"I thought it was funny." Her sister scoffed and chuckled but continued her work.
Tabatha was in the garden as her teacher was giving them an outdoor lesson on beasts. They were learning about hippogryphs. She had a baby in her hands as they were following the instructions of their teacher while they learned more about the creatures habits and behaviors. The mother of the babies was watching from a high perch. They were given free time to enjoy and play with the young little ones. She sighed as she sat away from the group and poked it's little belly. Her book was wide open as she read a tale of adventure. Then she turned to the hippogryph and said,"When you're big and strong, maybe you will be a valiant steed to a noble knight? Or perhaps you'll be a free spirit whose a master of their forest. Can you turn the page for me again?" It reached its neck over and turned the page with its beak before nestling back and enjoying her poking and petting.
