"For the fifth time, dad, her room is on the right." Jason told his father, Michael, after the patriarch of the family set a box down in the wrong bedroom. His father, an engineer, had always been more of a numbers man--if it couldn't be broken down into Boolean terms and actually took looking at something he would often make a mistake, even if it was something as simple as turning left or right. "That's okay, you just keep bringing them in, I'll help with quality control." He joked as he moved boxes from his own room to what was now Nora's room. After his sister had decided to follow in his footsteps and attend the same university he had, his parents had reached out to him about her rooming with him to keep her from falling into the student loan debt that so many felt the wrath of.
Jason and Nora had always gotten along well when he had lived at home, the two covering for one another's mishaps. Five years her elder, the twenty-three year old had already graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in finance and had stayed in Eugene, Oregon to pursue a career in the banking industry. He had landed an internship between his sophomore and junior years that had landed him a job in business development, working with real estate companies and tech startups to help fund their projects. He got to touch a little bit of everything at the moment, which would help him to decide a specialization later on. Not to mention the pay was good, allowing him to afford a nice two bedroom flat downtown not too far from the university. He had modern, chic decor and his unit was on the sixth and highest floor of the building, just around the corner from the rooftop pool and hot tub.
"And you really don't mind her staying here?" Asked Julia, their mother and a former pageant queen. She'd married their father young and had made quite a lovely wife and mother.
"Mom, you guys already traveled almost 2,000 miles from Minnesota. I think I'd be the biggest dick in the US to turn you away now." He replied, a warm smile on his face. "Besides, I missed the twerp."
Between being in such a prominent role with his company and his time playing basketball at the university he made sure to stay in shape, running and lifting each day, giving him a lean, muscular build. He kept his dark brown hair a little long and neat with his sharp jaw covered by a neatly trimmed beard. His deep blue eyes seemed to pop in contrast to his dark brown hair, a smile almost always highlighting his high cheekbones.
"Alright, I think that just about does it." He said as he took the last box from his father. He'd already purchased and set up a bed for her from IKEA and she would be able to make due with some cheap Target storage bins for dressers until they could go and get her some real furniture. "Did you guys want to stay for dinner or did you need to hit the road?"
