Question Avatar Size?

I've been wanting to upload an avatar, but I'm confused regarding the parameters. In the FAQ section, a size of 150 x 200 pixels is recommend. But when I go to upload an avatar image in my profile, it suggests a minimum size of 400 pixels square. Can anyone resolve the discrepancy?

I believe the smaller size is the correct maximum size allowed. I had to resize mine many times before it was accepted.

Thank you, Shy. Uploaded a 2062​ pix; so far so good. The image uploaded without any snags. Now, just knock 3 times on wood and we'll be set!

Avatars now get scaled to various sizes, currently 384x384 being the largest.

Just make sure to trim them to square sizes if you want to preserve the aspect ratio and/or GIF animation.

This new size allowance must be why some avatars appear blurry when viewed on pages that show the larger version of an avatar. I'm guessing that is instance of smaller avatar being enlarged by the forum.

The largest I can find is 192x192. Where can I see larger sizes?

I was mistaken it must be when avatar is smaller than 192x192 and being scaled up by the forum on a person's profile page.
