THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS. I HAVE A LOT OF INFORMATION STILL TO ADD. CHECK BACK SOON.

This thread is going to function as the central hub of information for the RP, Pokemon: Declassified. If you are interested in joining this RP, feel free to shoot me a private message. As it stands right now, there's no limit to the amount of people we are accepting, but that may change if I feel like the workload of it gets too high. In a nutshell, this is an RP that will take place in a custom Pokemon universe that is darker, more dangerous, and R-Rated. This will be systems-based, so you can expect stats, levels, and whatnot to play prominent roles here. However, that is not to subvert creativity, so don't feel stifled by micromanaging. I'm going to break down information into spoiler chunks to make this more digestible. Please read at your leisure and don't worry about memorizing every little detail.

Please do not post in this thread unless it is to post your character sheet and Pokedex (all in one post; separated by spoiler tags).

1. Common Courtesy
No flaming, trolling, all that good stuff. We're all looking to have fun, so lets work together to do so. So, this also extends to ideas like don't be snarky with one another; don't do things out of malice. Just generally speaking, extend goodfaith and courtesy to one another.

2. Forum Rules
You also agreed to Blue Moons' rules when you registered. So those all apply here and I'm going to avoid repeating it all.

3. No Godmodding or Powerplaying
Don't control characters that are not yours without permission from the character's handler, don't write off difficult tasks as if they're nothing for your character, don't try to force other people's characters into situations where there is no possible escape, that sort of thing. I'm much more interested in seeing how your character struggled than in how utterly indefatigable and unstoppable they are. Unlike the anime, villains are actually quite powerful, so you're not going to OHKO a villain's entire team with thundershock and in fact, sometimes it may be more conducive for you to run away or avoid battle all together. In that respect, you can think of this somewhat like D&D; choose your battles wisely. Remember that your decisions don't affect just you.

4. Multiple Characters
You are allowed to play more than one main character if you like (and infinitely many secondary and tertiary characters), but don't use them as a means of asserting power and undue influence over the rest of the group.
UPDATE: Due to a lot of interest, we may stick to only one main character. As only two sheets are filled out right now, this is tentative. But for the time being, just make one. If later on we can accommodate more, I will remove this and let you know.

5. Rated R
As mentioned above, the RP is Rated R. That means sexual scenarios are allowed within the guidelines of the forum rules. However, remember that this is a storyline-driven RP and smut is a complement rather than a replacement for such. Pokemon/human relations are not necessarily prohibited, but bear in mind that it is highly looked down upon in much the same way bestiality is for us. As a bestowed blessing upon you by the benevolent DM, STDs do not exist in this universe.

6. Pokemorphs
As of now, there are no pokemorphs. If there is popular demand among the group for it, I will specifically begin a side storyline for it.

7. Legendaries
Unfortunately, catching them all is not possible in this RP. The reason for that is because certain Pokemon, namely legendaries, are one of a kind. Being that there are multiple players for this RP, simple math one person gets preferential treatment with regard to legendaries, no one player can have every Pokemon. This is not set in stone yet, but what I will likely do for legendaries is allow each player to call dibs on one legendary that hasn't already been taken and draft a storyline for them to catch it, but limit each player to one. Alternatively (or in addition), I may make legendaries a part of a difficult quest that you will have to compete with each other to be the one who catches it. For now though, no catching legendaries, no encounters with legendaries; legendaries only show up by will of the DM (me).

8. Shinies
Don't take the liberty of making your Pokemon shiny. Every Pokemon you encounter will have a chance of being shiny and I will let you know if your roll was positive for shinyness. However, I will allow each player (not character) one shiny token, which they can use to make one Pokemon into its shiny counterpart. You can use the shiny token on your starter or any non-legendary Pokemon subsequently caught. All starters will receive a shiny roll; if you roll positive, you can either allow it to be shiny or receive a second shiny token (this option is only available for starters). Your odds of getting a shiny Pokemon are 1 in 512 for a given encounter.

9. Starters
Everyone starts off with one Pokemon, barring some unforeseen extreme circumstances. It has to be a Pokemon that evolves at least once and must start in its base form. It cannot be legendary or pseudo-legendary or semi-pseudo-legendary. It also cannot be an extinct Pokemon. We want to keep things as fair as possible. Ultimately, you have 2 options for your starter. The first is that you pick from an assortment of Pokemon provided to you by the Academy as a starter (this options foregoes your ability to pick your Pokemon unhindered, but it offers some measure of kinship with the original games; I will try to offer a nice selection if you go with this option and you will still be allowed to pick its personality, etc.). The other option is that you already have your starter upon arriving at the Academy, but you are responsible for giving its backstory, how you encountered it (bearing in mind what regions it would be local to), etc. The choice is yours which of these options you want to take.

10. Pokedex
Pokedex management will take place in this thread and players are responsible for keeping up to date on their own Pokedex. Each player will make a post in this thread and edit it as new Pokemon are discovered/captured. You will be provided with a template to use for each Pokemon that you capture and you will list every Pokemon you have caught thus far in Pokedex order (at the top of the post, list the six Pokemon you are currently carrying with you). In addition to this, you may optionally keep tabs on what Pokemon you have seen out in the wild, where you saw them, etc. How customized you make it is up to you.

11. World Building
You are absolutely welcome to add to the world; general rule of thumb is to just run it by me first in the off chance it conflicts with something I have pre-established. In the games, the naming scheme for the towns is colors; the naming scheme I have for towns and cities for the RP is to name them after stars and other astronomical bodies; typically with larger cities coinciding with larger masses.

12. Pokemon Don't Speak English
Unless otherwise specified, Pokemon can't communicate to us in languages we can understand and likewise, humans don't speak Pikachu or any other Pokemon 'language'. Likewise, Pokemon do not say their names like in the anime; they make sounds more akin to the cries you can find in the Pokedex. Now, certainly a trainer can be around his Pokemon enough to gather the general idea of what their Pokemon is trying to communicate by inflections, gestures, and whatnot, but it's kind of silly to understand "Team Rocket captured Brock and Misty and are holding them beneath the bridge in the southern lagoon" from "Pika pi pi Pikachu!" Psychic and ghost Pokemon, however, do have the ability to communicate telepathically with their trainers by instilling ideas and concepts in them, so that is a potential exploit you may use.

13. Humans Can't Use Pokemon Abilities
Hex Maniacs, mediums, and whatnot may exist, but they don't have any special powers. They are more akin to fortune tellers in our own world with no actual power, but may have either convinced themselves or others of their abilities.

14. Fossils
Extinct Pokemon are extinct and there is currently no way to bring them back. Fossils are mostly just props for museums. Don't worry, this will change in-game though.
Note:
A fair bit of this has been lifted (with permission) Godai Pokemon RP and I will use quotes where applicable to demonstrate such.

Pokemon: Declassified takes place in another universe from ours, but the planet is still referred to as Earth (English-speaking humans are apparently not very creative between universes). Much of the planet is also quite similar to our own; same morphology, primarily water-based, etc. The distribution of land versus ocean is obviously different (there is no Australian continent, for example) that has in turn resulted in the unique history for humanity and Pokemon. But the major difference between our world and this world is, as you might imagine, that this world is inhabited by Pokemon.

Pokemon

Pokemon are hundreds of million of years old, eclipsing the time of humanity's flourishing on the planet.

Humanity

Humanity as we know it evolved from apes (which have subsequently gone extinct) onto the scene circa 15,000 years ago. Much of history this far in the past is still an active field of research, but it's believed that the prominent success of both humans and Pokemon on the planet led to the mass extinction of most animals. Initially, humanity prospered mutualistically or commensally with Pokemon as hunter-gatherers, but eventually took up more agricultural ties. Prominence in taming the land led to humanity prospering into the technological age that we are in today (speaking of which, there is no current year as it stands; people refer to events usually with relation to the day they are speaking from, but there is a particular big event that will occur later in the RP that society will mark the beginning of "Year 1").

Animals (particularly small insects and fish) still exist and fill necessary niches in the ecosystem, but larger animals are mostly only found on farms as livestock. A lot of sustenance comes from renewable resources from Pokemon farms, but meat is exclusively sold from animals. Eating Pokemon is culturally looked down upon in much the same way cannibalism is in our world (and yes, cannibalism is still looked down upon here). Depending on culture, you can also make the comparison to attitudes toward eating dogs and cats. That's not to say that it doesn't happen, but the Pokemon Rights Council will want your head on a pike if they hear about it. This distinction has a lot to do with Pokemon being viewed more as companions than as sustenance due to their sapience and general intelligence.

Unlike on our planet where people are mostly segmented by nations, the concept of a nation exists in only a limited sense. There are certain places that choose to be more exclusionary, but by and large, the Pokemon world is a very globalist one where people can travel freely. For the most part, cities and towns are fairly stand-alone; their governance are internally managed and self-sustained. As a result, there is a fairly overlapping marriage of commerce and government, which has resulted in corporations holding a great deal of influence.

Aura

“Do you mean that stuff that Lucario can use?”

Yes, I do. This almost throw-away fact in the games that also sparked plot points in the anime and mangas is actually a pivotal point of Godai’s canon. Most of the fandom believes that Lucario and a few humans are the only beings able to control Aura, but in actuality, nearly every pokemon and many different humans have this ability.

Before I get too far ahead, what is Aura? Aura, in the anime, is described as “The Essence of Every Living Creature.” Now, this is actually an over-generalization. If every living creature were to give off aura, then those that are able to see it would be essentially blinded by the millions of microscopic organisms that float and settle essentially everywhere. Obviously it means that only “higher” beings give off an aura. The ones we see are usually pokemon and humans, so this means that only creatures with Sentience and Emotions have interaction with Aura. So with that in mind, we should also note that the Manga describes it as a “wave that can be picked up by people, just like sound.” If we combine these two definitions together, then we get the idea that Aura is quantitative emotion, that travels in waves and radiates outward from beings with the capability to feel feelings. So using Aura is basically like using percussive emotion that can be felt physically and interact with the world. The waves don’t disappear though, once they radiate outward. The Planet is swimming in a rippling sea of aura that condenses and shifts and collects and can make strange things occur in both living and non-organic matter.

“How does this affect pokemon other than Lucario though?”

Well, we see Aura users able to create barriers and energy balls and use it in battle, as well as to sense and see and other more supportive abilities. Nearly exactly like several moves that we see pokemon use.

In Godai’s very ancient history, the earth was much like ours, with dogs, cows, fish, and cats. Cats ended up taking a very special path down an evolutionary branch, and learned how to use Aura. They solidified their emotions into weapons, letting it follow their desires, gaining intelligence and learning that Aura comes in 18 different varieties, the types we know now. They found that they could use the desire for self preservation and also for change in order to rapidly alter their biology. We call these ancient creatures, rumored to still exist today, Mew.

With the ability to rapidly change their DNA, Mew branched out into the over 700 species of pokemon we know today. They learned from and copied other living beings they encountered in the many ecosystems they spread to, which resulted in a mass extinction of almost all non pokemon. Many did survive, specifically small insects and some types of fish and other types of creatures, but largely the world has been repopulated with Pokemon and stabilized around them. As they began to fill in each niche, pokemon specified down into one or two types as well.

Since they are all descendants of Mew, however, they can all use Aura, and it manifests in their attacks and abilities. The most famous user of Aura is Lucario, who can “see” these waves as they radiate from beings, but his is just the most obvious and pronounced. All pokemon can use it in a small way. In battle, they can take a small amount of a substance and use a desire to attack or make use of it somehow to amplify it and actually duplicate it. For example, there is no way that a small creature like squirtle can house enough water to use Hydro Pump inside its body. However, using aura, all a well trained squirtle would need to do is produce a certain amount of liquid, then use his aura skills to amplify it and turn it into a living geyser. We see this in the anime when pokemon seem to materialize their attacks in their mouths and project it, but not from inside them. This also explains how rock types seem to have a never ending supply of stones to throw around. The quality and quantity of this amplification must be trained in order to make a large difference. The ability to do this is quantified by the Two Attack Stats in our system.

Furthermore, aura comes into play with other moves as well, in the form of buffs and debuffs, and other status inflictions. Ones like leech seed and thunder wave are obvious in how they work, but how exactly does going “Neener neener” and taunting a pokemon force it to only use offensive moves? Going back to how Aura follows a pokemon’s desires and emotions, these moves are basically spells that force the opponent to feel a certain way. If a pokemon growls at its opponent, they take their emotion, either cuteness, or intimidation, and forces it over onto the target, making them feel a certain way, and making them less inclined to attack.

Remember how I said that the planet is basically covered with Aura that collects and pools places? This can have fun effects on the land. Occasionally, when these pools happen near stones, it will incite a chemical change in the rock. They’ll become what’s was known to antiquity as a “Rune.” These days, we call it Candorite, because of the way they can glow. It should be noted that Candorite is an extra title that can be added onto almost any kind of rock. Granite, Andorite, Hematite, nearly anything can become a Candorous material. When these Candorite stones are exposed to a specific type of aura, they can become “typed.” Candorite stones in rivers tend to become Water Stones, If candorite stones are placed in furnaces they can become fire stones. Gardens with leaf stones, etc. These stones have many uses, but their largest market is for trainers, who use them to induce evolution of pokemon.

When pokemon get to a certain biological point, one where their bodies and minds are toned and strong, this fills them with a confidence, but also a desire to leave this plateau, and a reaction happens in their brains that begins a process we’ve called Evolution. These desires are so great that the pokemon’s aura follows it and changes their DNA, like the mews once did, into making it a bigger, stronger, smarter version of itself. This releases a lot of energy, mostly in the form of light, but as heat as well.

Some forms of evolution though require focusing confidence through an object. Onix are an example of this. There are special metals in the earth which contain bits of candorite inside them that onix have found. When they grow stronger near these metals their aura reacts with it and take and multiply these metals while also incorporating them into their body.

Aura also affects objects that aren’t earthen. Discarded scales and teeth at the bottom of the ocean can become “Deepsea Scales/Teeth” used with Clampearl. There are also man-made objects which have been manufactured with secret methods to make them Candorous, such as the electrizer and magmarizer, along with porygon’s evolutionary items.

“If Aura follows emotions, then what happens when pokemon fall in love?”

Good question. This is where we get into breeding, which is one of the most beautiful things humans have been able to witness. And exceedingly rare. It’s a very private process for pokemon, and many are offended when humans are anywhere near them, even trainers. For millenia humans had never seen two pokemon actually in the act of procreating, leading to many wild and strange theories about how it happens. But in recent years, this feat has been achieved.

When two pokemon feel strong feelings of love and devotion to one another, they undergo a process similar to emotion. The aura takes their bodies and begins to glow, but instead of copying and multiplying their physical form for the purpose of making themselves bigger and stronger, the aura takes this and combines it with its partner’s, then forms a protective shell around the “fetus” while it grows. The lifeform, at this point, is called an Egg. We shouldn’t think of them as we normally do eggs that we eat though. Firstly, they’re incredibly durable. Secondly, they don’t contain a yolk or anything similar to that. The Fetus is in a state where it lives off of aura entirely. The process of using aura to grow a new body can vary depending on many things. The species of the pokemon can determine that. Generally, pokemon species who are stronger than others take longer to grow in their eggs. Dragons are notoriously slow in this. But also the amount of time an egg spends around other living beings, particularly pokemon, can play a huge role in this. Being around many pokemon, and humans who put out nurturing and parental feelings can expedite how quickly an egg can hatch.

You’ll notice that this process does not require any bodies touching, and also serves to prove that pokemon do not have, or need, genetalia. I wasn’t kidding when I said it was exceedingly beautiful. Think about it, Literally two creatures send their love to one another and it’s so strong that they create life out of nothing.

There’s also the fact that mammalian pokmeon do “hatch out of eggs.” Growlithes and purrloins don’t have litters of puppies and kittens, they have a single child that hatches out of an egg. If that’s still to confusing for you, think of it as a baby lying in its cradle, wrapped in a cloth, and slowly growing until it’s strong enough to come out.

Let’s break for a Fun Fact about pokemon biology though~ Did you know that capturing pokemon can actually hinder their ability to reproduce? Don’t worry, the pokemon population in captivity is amazingly dwarfed by those in the wild, it’ll be a long time before we have to seriously worry. But, when a male pokemon goes inside a pokeball, the energy transference process actually does a form of Aura Neutering, which prevents the male’s Species DNA from being transferred into the child. That’s why, in captivity, the child will always be the mother’s species, but still carries traits from its father. It’s been observed in the wild, though, that there’s about a 50/50 chance of species transference when the pokeball is removed. This is how “Male only Species” exist in the wild~

Moving Past Reproduction and onto how Aura affects the actual lives of pokmeon, All pokmeon have an infant stage, just like the animals they replaced. Upon hatching from the egg, regardless of how long it took, all pokemon have a time of being about a third the size of their average, with many differing qualities. They tend to follow the same traits as their animal replacees, such as young ekans and seviper not being able to control their venom. Some Pokemon, like Vulpix, however, have a unique trait, like having one albino tail that slowly splits into multiple, darker ones as they age into adult hood. The entire process takes, on average, two weeks. However, mamalian pokemon have an extra stage of being a teenager, in which they'll be nearly the same size as an adult, but exhibit traits of dependency on a parental figure. This lasts for an additional month of weaning them off of milk and becoming stronger.

From then on, there is no real set average of how long a pokemon can naturally live. They stop following the trends of the animals they replaced once they reach adulthood. It seems a pokemon's life expectancy is directly proportional to the emotions they experience in their lives. The current theory states that pokmeon use Aura generated by passion and will in order to rejuvinate their cells, similar to evolution, but to a lesser extent, to keep them healthy and strong through their lives. However, when there's more than one source of positive Aura, such as what might come from a family, a partner, or a trainer, this process is vastly easier and the Pokemon can live much much longer than they would alone. This is why pokemon are perfectly comfortable living in "packs" with the trainer as their leader. And that's why pokmeon that are loved and cared for live so long and become so strong. Because of this, most pokemon live for as long as they have a connection to something. When that something is gone, then it is very likely that that pokemon will die soon after, depending on the personality of the pokemon. Most pokemon in captivity live for as long as their trainers do. Most in the wild live for as long as their companions do. And lone pokemon live for as long as they can find a reason to go on.

Technology

Pokeballs & Apricorns said:
Pokemon have an intimate connection with an energy that surrounds and penetrates them. As stated above, all pokemon, at one point, were made entirely out of energy when they were inside their eggs. This energy, however, isn't exclusive to just pokemon. Another type of life-form also has a connection with this force, the Apricorn tree. There are theories that these trees are distantly related to carnivorous plant pokemon, and at one point developed tools to catch prey, Apricorns. Because pokemon are relatively intelligent creatures though, evolution took them down the path to becoming more plantlike since their prey was smart enough to avoid them. As a result, the capture tools they developed became vestigial.

These apricorns had an ability to forcibly make their energy interact with a pokemon's energy in a way that made the energy revert them back to the energetic blob of light and life they were as an egg. When it was predatory, it would then absorb the energy and gain nourishment. It wasn't until man discovered these abilities that apricorns became useful after the evolutionary shift.

For a long time man used apricorns to capture pokemon and use them for various purposes. Without a tree to suck the energy back, the creatures were simply stuck inside this shell until, at one point, they were released, at which point they reformed. Almost all pokemon, after this point, form a bond with the apricorn's energy, which prevents the capture of another pokemon with the same apricorn. It also makes the pokemon almost physically bound to the apricorn, too much physical separation is unsettling, thus the pokemon choose to remain close to their new homes. This is why pokemon seem to take a change of heart when captured. They aren't loyal to the trainer, they're loyal to the container. Loyalty to the trainer can come or go, but as long as the trainer has possession of the apricorn, the pokemon associated with it will be, effectively, stuck.

As man progressed though, technology developed and synthetic balls became easier to mass produce and sell than farming apricorns, though the latter does still go on. These "Pokeballs" also worked much more effectively than the natural apricorns did. Where it took a dozen or more apricorns to catch a pokemon, it now takes but one Pokeball. These new balls, for tradition's sake, work almost exactly the same way and maintain all the same rules that their natural predecessors do. However, apricorns do have one point that their descendant does not. Pokeballs are unable to catch pokemon at all levels. Stronger pokemons' energy levels can be too much for the red and white ball to handle in the event of capture. It's alright when pokemon grow while being in the ball, there's time for it to adjust, but trying to swallow too much energy at once overloads the system, causing breakage. Thus, companies have developed balls built to withstand these levels, but they're harder to produce, and usually only diligent trainers use them, keeping the market open for the less efficient balls. Typically, Pokeballs fail when the captured pokemon is at level 15, Great balls at 30, and Ultra balls, used almost exclusively by seasoned trainers, work best from 31 to 45, though there is never a 100% guarantee on any manmade product other than "it may not work."

[...]

"Now, what about when they're in the ball?" Well, that's a good question, and it varies from case to case slightly. Since they're reverted back to energy, there is no biological brain left intact. As such, many pokemon experience it as a really heavy, intense nap. However, all the information of a brain is still there. Some, who have a certain degree of self-awareness or intelligence, end up having the ability to maintain their energy's form in such a way that will simulate a working consciousness, and are vaguely aware of the passage of time and the world around them.

Pokedex said:
Literally, this is a Pokemon Index, a reference guide for all the information we know about pokemon. In the early days [...], this was an actual paperback book that people could carry around and thumb through, and buy updated versions at their local book stores (those with a trainer’s license got a discount of course). In the coming decades, [Professor Pascal] developed the first generations of an electronic version which got increasingly more efficient. The most recent model available is a very minimalistic design. Consisting of a touch screen that varies in opacity. Around this there are two covers that slide vertically to reveal the screen and then close in order to protect the screen. They come with a camera to quickly scan the appearance of a pokemon you encounter and bring up its pokedex entry which will include average sizes, types, the list of moves it might know. This does not actually scan details about an individual pokemon, this just brings up an electronic field guide, like what our pokedex looks like (without game stuff like health, levels and division) for those people who haven't been able to memorize what pokemon look like and their types. This will not tell you stats, the exact movesets of a pokemon, or even how strong it is. There is no way the pokedex can tell if a pokemon is a level 1 or 100 if it's the same species.

Law Enforcement

Each town or city is responsible for the law enforcement of its own region, but all police forces work as part of a union known as the United Police Force Committee (UPFC). This allows them to provide funds and manpower where needed; it also allows them to deal with criminals who act in one town but then travel to another. Due to laws being different from one town to another, the UPFC member states have all agreed to follow a pact that any law broken within the jurisdiction of one place must be upheld elsewhere. So, for example, if you litter in Town A where littering is illegal and go to Town B where it is not, Town B is obligated to arrest you. Failure to do so may result in being ostracized by the other members of the UPFC or kicked out entirely.

Most towns provide law enforcement training specific to their needs to Pokemon trainers who are tasked with upkeeping the laws of their homes. This varies from town to town though.

Due to the varying laws and large amount of towns, a system of courts has been implemented to review what should and should not be done in matters that involve more than one town. They are known as the World Courts. These courts are run by 9 Judges, who are regarded as the most powerful people in the world. They oversee all of the lower courts and draft laws on how to deal with intercity disputes. Becoming a judge for a single town is a process that varies from town to town, but becoming a judge in the World Courts is often a more difficult process that requires attending one of several Legal Academies that are accredited and approved by all of the cities and towns that opt into the UPFC. It also requires a supermajority (>75%) approval of any individual accepted as a judge with further votes required in order to promote them to higher courts.

The Pokemon League

The World Courts system has resulted over time in voting blocs known simply as "Regions". These Regions are consortia of various towns in the same geographical vicinity with the same interests in mind. There is no hard and fast rule about what it takes to become a region as they are decided by the member cities and towns that make them up. There are 24 accepted regions in the world at this moment. Due to competing interests, different regions have historically attempted to demonstrate their power in Pokemon battles. Initially, this started when competing demands within the World Courts reached a boiling point and needed to be settled. Regions selected 'Champions' to do Pokemon battles on their behalf.

Over time, this system has become more formalized. Each region has continually upheld a Champion who is bestowed great honor and responsibility. As public faces for their Regions, they often have a great deal of sway in local politics and are granted their own private Pokemon Gyms to operate out of. They often work in tandem with the local police forces within their region and due to their skill as Pokemon trainers, often stand to keep justice and peace.

The Pokemon battles between Champions has naturally become commercialized over time into a spectacle known as the Pokemon League. It is a spectacle that most of the populace partakes in as spectators (much the way we watch the World Cup, the Superbowl, the Olympics, etc.) The Pokemon League takes place every 3 years and is attended by all 24 Champions. After some time, other trainers started to be permitted to participate in the Pokemon League resulting in the Pokemon League Trials, whereby Pokemon Trainers would compete in order to qualify for the League.

An alternative form of entry into the Pokemon League was additionally provided to Pokemon Trainers by way of the Badge system. The badge system allows Champions to bestow a badge to anyone they deem worthy of entering the Pokemon League. Typically, the badge is bestowed from the trainer battling the Champion and winning (in which case the Champion is obligated by law to provide the badge), but in theory they could just give you a badge because they like your face (although poor performance of a trainer with a badge reflects poorly on the bestower of that badge). Obtaining 4 badges from any of the 24 gyms allows a trainer instant entry into the Pokemon League without having to undergo the Trials.

Merely participating in the Pokemon League tournament grants the trainer acknowledgment as an Elite Pokemon Trainer. Placing in the semi-finals of the Pokemon League tournament confers the title of "Pokemon Master" onto a trainer and the winner is regarded as the world's best Pokemon Master (at least until the next tournament). There is one more title reserved for a Pokemon trainer who obtains all 24 badges and subsequently goes on to win the tournament; the person who does such a feat is known as a Pokemon Grandmaster. To date, only one person has achieved this feat and won every single Pokemon League tournament they participated in; a record 6 times. That person's name was Grandmaster Malfoy Mozenrath and he is believed to have died around a decade ago as no one has seen or heard from him since his sixth victory in the Pokemon League during the Golden Age of Pokemon battling.

Pascal Academy

Professor Archibald Pascal is the world's most eminent Pokemon scientist and world-renowned as the foremost authority on all things Pokemon. Much of what we know about Pokemon and much about how we go about Pokemon training today comes from him or at least was further streamlined by him. Professor Pascal's intellect is legendary to a point where his leadership in the world has led to a time of prosperity and peace. His authority in the world at large is unrivaled and many believes he has even more sway in global politics than even the 9 Judges of the World Court (if he actually used that authority). Given that one of his sons is one of those 9 Judges, another one of his sons is one of the 24 Champions, and one of his many grandchildren is the most recent Pokemon League Master, it's not hard to see why. In fact, the entire Pascal Family is widely revered and virtually every industry and endeavor has the Pascal name prospering in it somewhere.

A philanthropist and a Pokemon training advocate, Professor Pascal began the Pascal Academy shortly after the disappearance of Malfoy Mozenrath in order to foster the Pokemon training spirit in the next generation of would-be trainers. With Mozenrath gone and many of the top-tier contenders who competed against him retiring, a new generation of Pokemon trainers had to be reared up as many agreed that the Golden Age was home to the fiercest Pokemon training competition in history. In fact, it's well-regarded that those who even competed against Grandmaster Mozenrath could have easily won the Pokemon League had it been any other year in history. Such a concept seemed saddening to Pokemon aficionados and advocates like Professor Pascal. Fortunately, his brilliant mind had a solution.

Beginning an Academy for Pokemon training! The Academy would take on 16 students every 4 years after the Pokemon League finished; prospective new rookies whose potential was deemed substantial. Typically, that worthiness came from the testimonies of other well-respected figures in the world of Pokemon, but that was not a hard and fast rule. These 16 students would be directly trained from their formative training years into Pokemon Elites. In fact, to date, all of the winners of the Pokemon League and roughly half of the semi-finalists have come out of the Academy since its inception.

The Everdred Crime Syndicate

There is a tragic story to the Pokemon League. After Sir Arthur Melchiorre won his second Pokemon League in a row, he was considered the world's best Pokemon trainer for 12 straight years; a feat that would not be again accomplished until Malfoy Mozenrath rose to prominence. It's well regarded that Melchiorre may well have accomplished what Mozenrath did years later had it not been for the sudden change in the Pokemon landscape leading to the Golden Age. As such, he's accepted to be the greatest Pokemon Master of the Silver Age. To this day, Arthur Melchiorre has been in every single semi-finals of the Pokemon League, often narrowly missing victory by a hair. After two seemingly effortless sweeps of the Pokemon League in a row though, Melchiorre was believed to be unbeatable and when some young kid named Ashton Everdred wound up being his finals competition, no gambler in his right mind would gamble against Melchiorre.

But the unthinkable happened. In the biggest upset in Pokemon League history, Ashton Everdred unseated Sir Arthur Melchiorre to become the Pokemon League champion. It was no fluke though. Ashton Everdred was a brilliant Pokemon strategist who transitioned into the Golden Age of Pokemon training with a new age, smashmouth style that wowed the fans and baffled his opponents. The young buck seemed to have the entire world before him.

After defeating Melchiorre yet a second time in the semi-finals of the subsequent tournament, he was poised to become the second person in history to win back-to-back championships. What Everdred's brilliant mind failed to anticipate, however, was that there was yet another upstart who would change the landscape of Pokemon training gunning for him. He face Malfoy Mozenrath in the finals and seemed to take a commanding lead with his well-executed strategies. But there was a problem; Everdred became cocky and didn't anticipate Malfoy Mozenrath to brandish a legendary Pokemon by the name of Ho-Oh that would unleash a Fire Blast that was strong enough to destroy half of the stadium, kill his prized Meganium, and disfigure Everdred himself. It's rare for a Pokemon to actually die in battle and happens so rarely as to be statistically insignificant, but when it does happen, it it a very heart wrenching experience. Since then, the stadiums have been built bigger and more safe, but that did not prevent the tragedy from unfolding with Ashton Everdred.

When Ashton came out of a coma, all he wanted to do was see his best friend; his first Pokemon, Meganium. It was given to him by Professor Pascal himself to start his Pokemon journey and led him to victory after victory. But when he learned of his best friend's untimely passing, his mind couldn't take it. He broke down and no on heard from him over the next decade or so.

During this time, Malfoy Mozenrath cemented his legacy as a Grandmaster in the world of Pokemon and a new entity emerged in the shadows of society. A dark hand that wished to swallow society whole. It was responsible for everything from heists to murder; virtually every vice you could imagine was perpetrated by this new organization. The only information anyone could gather from the few small time criminals that were captured (and later killed for even saying that) was that the name of the organization was Everdred. No one has seen Ashton Everdred, but what has been deduced is that he must be behind this new organization.

Pokemon Center

A good chunk of the revenue generated by the Pokemon League in conjunction with wealthy Pokemon enthusiast donors has resulted in an open source hospital for Pokemon. Among all charitable organizations, the Pokemon Center Fund is the one that receives the most donations. They function essentially the same way they do in the games.

However, Pokemon Centers are more than just Pokemon Hospitals. They're also places for Trainers to rest and recuperate. While their pokemon are being healed, many places have Common Areas where trainers can relax and socialize or zone out and watch tv.
Through one set of doors, trainers can enter what's known as a Trading Area Which, using the PC System, allows trainers to send and receive pokemon through trades with people all across Godai. Some Pokemon Centers have these right next to the Public PCs, and not a completely different area. But hey, if you've got an extra wing you might as well fly with it~

Futhermore, many pokemon centers serve as hostels for trainers. Some are separated into Boys' and Girls' Dorms and others aren't. It depends on who happens to be running the Center, and both are available in most all cities (Wisteur and Vlostik are segregated). The well funded hostels have rooms complete with a personal bathroom and private room (though usually with a fee). More commonly there are bunk rooms with as many as a dozen people sleeping in one room. These have communal showers. The shyer trainers might want to save the money they can for privacy, or buck up and play nice~ All hostels are equipped with a laundry room as well.

Currency

The unit of currency is the pokedollar and is denoted by the symbol
Pok%C3%A9monDollar.png
. Everyone starts with
Pok%C3%A9monDollar.png
1000, but you can earn more through battling, quests, etc. All of the same prices from the games apply here and you can think of the currency as most similar to the Japanese yen.

Calendar

Currently, society has not developed a static convention for years. As such, years are all relative to present time; so you will describe 10 years ago as 10 YBP (year before present). There is, however, a recyling sequence of year symbols similar to Chinese zodiacs. We begin our RP in the Year of Jynx. The same months apply in this world as our world, but the zodiac signs are different and listed below.

Year of the Purrloin
Year of the Tauros
Year of the Arcanine
Year of the Buneary
Year of the Milotic

Essentially what you're doing here is listing the Pokemon that you really like and would like to boost the encounter chances of them versus other things where applicable. This is not a list of things you will definitely encounter; it's just a guideline I can use to make your experience more enjoyable. Feel free to list legendaries that you particularly like on here as well. Place asterisks next to the name of the Pokemon to indicate higher levels of interest.)

(Updates may be made to biography; I'm deciding what to list here and what would be better revealed over time.)

Official Name:
Agitha Whitney

Nickname(s):

Date Of Birth:
March 22, 19 Y.B.P

Gender/Sex:
Female

Orientation:
Heterosexual

Alignment:
Neutral Good

Color Key:
#bc8ff7

Hometown:
Agitha grew up in the town of Starfall Mountain, a tourist town known for clear skies and semi-annual meteor showers. Her family home is a large house high up the mountain. It's the house that travelers see from the road below and imagine how it must have such a spectacular view... and a very long driveway.

Appearance:
Agitha has long strawberry blonde hair, falling past her waist, which she usually wears down or half-up. She has amber eyes, and very fair skin. She stands approximately 5'4" with a slender build. When going out, she often wears handmade accessories which resemble her favorite Pokemon, such as Spritzee and Clefairy, and very much favors the color pink.

Personality:
Very bubbly and personable, Agitha has a tendency to speak whatever is on her mind. She takes care not to be unnecessarily rude, but otherwise does not have much of a verbal filter. This sometimes leads others to underestimate her intelligence upon first meeting her, but she is really quite capable.

Agitha firmly believes that “you're never fully dressed without a smile”, and treats new faces as friends until proven otherwise. She believes that people usually have good intentions, and tries to give them the benefit of the doubt.

When not socializing, Agitha can often be found sitting outdoors with her nose buried in a book. Her personal library at home contains a variety of genres, but the vast majority of those books are fantasy. It doesn't matter if the stories involve mythical creatures, humans who can transform into pokemon, mysterious magical abilities, or anything else a person could dream up; she loves it all.

Biography:
Agitha's family is well-off, which afforded her a lot of free time to explore near her mountaintop home during her childhood. As a result, she has grown to be a nature lover, with a soft spot for fairy type Pokemon. Her dream is to catch as many as she can, her sights set not just on winning battles but on creating a sort of fairy paradise for herself and her Pokemon to live in.

Shiny Tokens:
1

Bag:
-Hair scrunchie
-Travel-sized sewing kit (needle and thread, plus a few safety pins)
-Whatever novel she's currently reading
-Pink Sunglasses
-Snack food
-Notepad and a pen

(This is where your Pokemon and Pokedex will be listed.)

Preferred Pokemon: Fairy types

Kinks: F-List (I find long F-lists to be a bit overwhelming to read, so I didn't make a selection for every single thing.)

Hard Limits: Hard limits are most peoples' hard limits. Scat, vomit, uncleanliness, bestiality, children, that kind of thing. Also, foot stuff.

Mike is someone who, for most of his life, rarely took risks. Having applied to Pascal Academy and been accepted despite being one of the older applicants has him on a bit of a "push your luck" rush, though it may not last once he loses momentum. He spends a lot of time in his own head.

Biography:
Despite being fascinated by pokemon as a kid, he studied them as an analyst rather than got into training himself.
