Lily had just arrived in her new home against her will. Her father had given his permission for the King of a another land to marry her. in turn the two leaders have formed an alliance and lily was meant to suffer for it. Lily knew some of the man she was suppose to marry, for one she knew he was married before and his wife and child had died in childbirth. She also knew that he was older than she was having already been married, and his wife had been gone for some time.

Lily was 19 with raven colored hair and bright purple eyes. Her skin was sun kissed. she was an exotic beauty. Lily sighed heavily has she sat in her new room. She had still not met her future husband so she hoped that meant he had changed his mind about the whole thing

Asher sighed, it seemed he had yet to actually meet the woman because he was busy making sure that the castle was cleaned and decorated, fit enough for a new queen. Asher was twenty eight, he seemed quite the happy king at the beginning of his reign, but after his wife and child passed he slipped into deep depression. The kingdom thought he would remain that way until his death. That was until they have heard about the new queen coming in, his subjects seemed elated that he had finally tried to move on.

The truth was, he hadn't. When he denied a certain request from an old witch, she placed a curse on him. If within two years he did not sire a new heir, more of those close to him would perish. Not wanting to deal with that kind of pain once more, he decided to try and break the curse. Of course, he also began to seem even more distant to avoid being close to anyone. He sighed as he summoned a servant of his and ordered him to take the new queen to the dining hall, where they would finally meet.

Although Lily had hoped that the King would change his mind she knew it was doubtful. She sighed and tried to make the best of. "he could be nice. He could be everything i wanted in a husband. But then again he could be everything i didn't want in a husband." Lily thought to herself as she paced the room.

Lily was started when a knock came to the door. She answered it to find a servant that was requested to escort her to the dinning hall where she would meet the king. As she followed the servant to the dinning hall she had to take a few deep breaths to try and calm herself. before she knew it the door open to the dinning hall and she stepped inside.

Asher sighed awaiting his future wife. She had probably already heard the story of his wife and child, and probably about his attitude ever since. So he figured she would not be very thrilled with the whole marriage business. But at least he had some time to get to know her, and vice versa for her.

Once he heard the door open to the dining hall, Asher waved the rest of his subject out of the room. Asher nodded to her and invited her to take the seat next to his. She was a beautiful woman, despite her age, she already had the beauty fit for a queen. "What is your name, young flower?"

Lily walked into the larger and looked to her husband to be. He was not as old as she once thought him to be, in fact his features were very nice. She wondered though why he would choose to arrange a marriage instead of finding one for love.

"my name is Lillian, but if you like you can call me Lily" She explained softly "if you do not mind me asking why would you choose to arrange this marriage?" Lily was pretty bold, knowing full well that he did not have to answer but she would pressure him until he explained.

" That business is my own Lily" Asher said in response to her question. Curses seem to be common place in this day and age,but he still didn't want to admit that it had happened. The servants marched into the dining hall with two silver platters and a glass of wine. They sat the platters down in front of them and poured them each a glass of wine. "My arrangement did not separate you from any one did it?"

"no, but your arrangement stop me from finding someone. Someone that would care for me and love me, some i could love in return, instead i am just a pawn now." Lily's tone reminded soft, she didn't put extra anger into what she said she just explained it has if she explaining to someone how to get to the local market.

"Well, you are not a pawn. In fact you will be saving some people by doing this. " Back before the curse, Asher made the mistake of becoming close friends with just about all of his subjects, and also a lot of the town's people. If every one close to him were to die, there would be a huge chunk taken out of the kingdom. He sighed and started on his dinner. He knew he'd have to explain the curse to her sometime in the near future, but not now.

Lily didn't touch her plate, it was as if there was no food infront of her at all. She starred at him for a long time. "That still sounds like i am being used. Weither you assume your reasons are good or not still does change the fact that you are using me." once again spoke softly to him. Lily knew better than to use anger or force for most people that tactic just caused more trouble "so please explain how i would be saving people for, and also explain how i am not a pawn" Lily paused and looked him in the eyes "please"

"I'm afraid I must retire for the night" He said getting up, he made no effort in hiding the fact that he was avoiding the question. She would find out soon enough, he was not ready to tell her now, and she probably wouldn't agree anyway. He excused himself and retreated to his office, the place he would usually lock himself in to write new proclamations. But as he sat down to think, he felt a rather familiar presence...the witch.

"You know you only have a year left."The woman said with a wicked grin. She did not look like what one would think a witch would look. Despite being hundreds of years old, she still looked quite young. "Distancing yourself from everyone is not going to save the ones you love"

Lily sighed heavily as she watched him rise from the table and leave. She looked down to her plate of untouched food. As she stared she made up her mind about what she needed to do. Lily rose from the table and found a servant and asked where the king usually went after dinner. They explained that he went to his office be a lone for a time. Lily went to his office door for a moment she thought she heard a woman's voice but she thought it was a servant and she knocked on the door. "I know you did no longer wish to talk and that is why you left the table, but please need i know to understand why you need a wife so baddly" her plea was soft. her face was close to the closed door.

Asher did not hear the door knocking, and he wasn't going to answer it with the witch present anyway. " It takes a bit longer to create an heir than you are giving me." The witch glared at Asher, he was talking to her as if she didn't know what she was doing. "You know, you brought this curse upon yourself when you denied me a home here. This is the last time I shall remind you of the deadline, either there is an heir at the end of the year, or everyone you love dies. " In a plume a purple smoke the witch vanished, the only thing that remained was the pungent smell of sulfur.

Lily waited for the door to be open to her but it didn't open. She was about to open it when she heard Asher speaking to someone the ones voice she had heard before could be heard again. "What is he talking about? One year to have an Heir?" Lily thought to herself then she gasped when she heard that everyone would die if he didn't have a child. "so thats whats going on here..." her thoughts were interrupted when she heard the loud noise and then smelled the sulfur. Lily quickly opened the door she had to see if Asher was alright "asher. what happen are you alright." all though she may have hated the situation she still cared about a persons safety and that shown on her face.

Asher had been visited by the witch many times over, so he was quite used to her way of entering and exiting. "Yes yes, I'm fine" He said. Lily was rather quick to come in after the witch left, was she listening in? "How much did you hear?" He asked her as he got up from his chair, he probably had explaining to do

Lily looked at him for a long moment. She didn't know if she wanted to tell him what she heard, but then again it make this whole thing easier. "i came here to talk to you when i heard a woman's voice. I did not mean to be listening in but her words were loud enough so i could hear them as a i waited for you to answer the door." Lily swallowed hard "is it true, you need to have an heir with in a year, is that why brought me here? to have your child?"

Asher sighed, when she put it that way, I did sound like he was using her. " Yes, back when the kingdom was being ravaged by the plague, a lot have died, including my wife and daughter. The woman you heard is Tadeja, a witch who has seen all the grand empires rise and fall. Back then I did not know of her abilities. She came to me to ask permission to build her mansion in town, I denied her because the plague was still going quite strong. But she wouldn't hear a word of it and placed the curse on me. " He slumped into his chair, he didn't want to use her, but he wanted to save the kingdom as well.

Lily sighed softly and sat in a chair. Her head was spinning now. if she didn't let him get her pregnant then many people would die. she was deep in thought for a long time before slowly looking up at him, tears hung heavy in her eyes. At first she tried to speak and no words came out then she cleared her throat and tried again "if i were to bare your child, what would happen to me and the baby after the child is born after we are used to save your the people you care about." If was going to have a child by force she at least wanted to be a mother to that child.

"Well, the child is coming from your body, do what you will with it."Asher said, he was forcing her into this in a way, she had to have some say so in it. Of course, she was going to be rewarded more than just the right to keep her own child when the deal is done. Asher got up from his chair and sighed. "Just rest tonight, I know It's a lot to let sink in" He said as he left the study, leaving her alone for some time to think

Lily sighed as she sank down into his chair. What was she going to do. She couldn't run away where would she run to. But she couldn't let innocent people die she couldn't live with herself if she did. She had to marry him and have his child. She sat on his desk all night, she fell a sleep there.

Some time during the night, Asher must of came by and draped a thin purple blanket over her shoulders. He knew the castle was quit drafty at night time, some times even on a summer night some of his subjects caught cold. He relocated his office temporarily to let her sleep. With the wedding coming up, he was trying to make her as comfortable as possible, seeing as she was kind of forced into it.

Lily a woke the next morning to find the blanket on her. Asher must have placed it on her in the middle of the night. She thought that maybe he wouldn't be such a bad husband after all, she would have liked to marry for love and passion, but she would be happy with friendship and tenderness. After all those were the bases for a happy marriage anyway. And who knows he could grow to love her and see love him in return.

Lily left the office in search of Asher. She found him a few rooms over. Knocked and then opened the door. "umm Asher, i thought about it all night, and i will marry you and have your child" she said softly

Asher nodded and got to his feet. That actually seemed to take a load off of his mind, now knowing that she was willing to go through with it all let him relax a little. "Well, you should probably see the royal seamstress sometime soon as well. She will need to size you for your dress." He said. Luckily, he had most of it planned, but if she had any input for what she wanted, he would try his best to accommodate her.

Lily nodded softly. She knew she would probably have to see the seamstress soon becuse she figured the wedding would be sooner rather than later to give them more time for lily to become pregnant. "asher, their is one thing i have to ask of you though. Please treat me as your friend, do not push me away" she looked down at the floor "i know you will probably never love me, but i can be happy with being your friend"
