Michael wandered down the streets of Lexington with his coffee in one hand and a metal cane in the other, letting out a frustrated sigh before taking a sip of his bitter brew. Michael himself was a tall, slightly tanned young man with short brown hair and hazel eyes masked behind a pair of glasses. He was dressed rather plainly with just a blue t-shirt from the local University and jeans. His rather average look, minus the cane, masked his true nature rather well and his true purpose. Michael was a member of a certain...club if one wanted to call it that. They kept secret forbidden and eldritch knowledge; it was something only a few should know for good reason and definitely needed to be kept out of the wrong hands. This club needed recruits though, and so they had to scout potential new members too. It was Michael's turn to do just that and with the aid of the club, he had reached out to a girl named Emily who had appeared to have taken an interest in the occult recently. How far that interest and knowledge went was what he was here to find out.

"This place sure is out of the way." He chuckled to himself, knowing that was for a reason; they arranged to meet at a local hole in the wall cafe that offered private rooms for conversations. He walked in and nodded to the barresta before ordering himself a Black Eye, he'd need the energy. He looked around for this Emily girl, seeing if she had made it here before him. She hadn't messaged him that she had, but he still figured it didn't hurt to look while he was waiting on his drink. The ambiance was certainly homey...bookshelves abound with love seats and sofas here and there along with some tables and a mellow soundtrack of ambient tecno and smooth jazz. He didn't even care if this girl showed up at this point, he could spend the rest of the day relaxing here if push came to shove.

The contact had been...unexpected. Borderline unwelcome. Having her research interrupted, let alone having someone try to steal it, wasn't her idea of a good time. Still, there was no denying it had piqued her interest that there might be others who were also delving into a field of study long since forgotten or merely glorified as fiction. So many in this town having no idea what power existed out there. Existed right here in Lexington.

Emily had told him to meet her at a cafe that wouldn't draw too much attention. She'd arrived before him, sitting in the back of the cafe with a large, leather bound book opened in front of her. Empty brown eyes peered up from the pages whenever the bell over the door rang to signal a new patron. If it wasn't him she'd let her eyes stray back down to the aged pages. The seventh time the door opened she knew it was the one who had contacted her. Her narrow left eyebrow cocked slightly at the sight of his cane, head shaking ever so slightly. What was this, the 17th century?

Regardless, Emily observed him for several moments as he took his seat. She gave him a few moments to simmer before finally snapping the tome shut with a loud snap. Standing from her booth, the large book got tucked underneath the pit of her left arm, keeping it held close to her body. Dressed in her usual 'drab' attire, a black long sleeved suit like dress with white collared undershirt with three buttons. The dress went down just mid thigh. Black stockings covered the nearly the entirety of her pale, slender legs which covered what the dress wouldn't have. Polished black buckle shoes her shoes of choice. Raven black hair tied back into two thin, meticulously woven braids.

Her right hand moved up to brush a few stray strands back behind her ear prior to reaching out and pulling the chair across the table from him. Sitting down promptly, she hugged the large book across her chest and stomach. Emily's face was completely unreadable, brown eyes staring directly into his sunglass hidden eyes. "You're late." was all she stated, voice feminine but rather flat. Lacking inflection or emotion.

Michael turned to the sound of her voice as he looked her over. His glasses were transitions so they were beginning to readjust, but he took the time while his eyes were obfuscated to observe her. She certainly was pretty and seemed to be as reclusive as he was told. He nodded his head softly at her point of being late as he took a small sip of his coffee. "Sorry, I don't normally come to this part of town, so I got a little sidetracked." He offered what excuse he could, and he wasn't lying as this part of the town wasn't the best known to him. He stuck around the University and didn't make too many trips out to the outskirts of town where the cafe was located.

"I hope you don't mind if I call you Emily, I'm Michael and it's nice to meet a fellow researcher." He offered his hand out for a polite handshake as was custom. Once formalities were out of the way, his eyes wandered to the book she held. Based on the size and shape he had a pretty good guess as to what it was and let out a soft chuckle.

"Master Wilhelm's Book of Runes and Sigils, correct?" He inquired, already knowing the answer as he took another sip of his coffee and gave her a small, curious smile. "What do you think of it so far?" His tone was without a doubt curious. Master Wilhelm was one of the people his group studied and learned from...but he wasn't their many source, no. He was curious if she had been able to work her way through it and learn about his protege, Laurence and if she had done any research on him yet. After all, the tome were written in a mixture of Latin and High German so not many people were even capable of understanding the works these days. He was curious what knowledge this young girl had managed to gleam so far.
