In a little no name town on the border of the desert and forest of New Mexico lived a girl with a pretty odd fascination. See, this little town would have simmered off the map and faded away from existence were it not for the local legend. The Night Stalker, a beast said to tower over the tallest man with the body of a coyote and the head and tail of a diamondback. And Noa had been obsessed with it since she was a young girl. Now a grown woman, she continues to hunt for evidence of it to keep her home alive.

"I'm going out hunting again!"
"Noa, mija, be careful this time! You broke your ankle running around in the dark, next it could be your leg!" Noa looked back at her mom and grinned.
"I promise, mama!" She said and rushed out of the house with her bag.

There waz a cryptid that she had been hunting forever. Somewhat of a town legend. The Night Stalker. Twice the height of a man, but resembling a coyote, and a diamondback. It could speak. There was a reward for it, enough to help with anything, and really put the town on the map.

She set up her camcorder and looked through the night vision as she walked through the sand and rocks and into the fallen branches and tall grass. "Were back again, everyone. This time, I think I've pinpointed where it hunts." She spoke quietly, not wanting the Night Stalker to find her, "I've found a ton of blood near the core of the forest, and there's a cave near by. I'm convinced he's there tonight."

The coyotes were loud, but one of them was louder. Much louder. Almost like a scream. It was the Night Stalker.

She covered her mouth to keep from gasping too loudly. "It's him...!" She whispered and headed off toward the sound.

"What an animal- shit!!" She cried out when she tripped over a lifted root and fell forward, knocking the wind out of her. She gasped like a dying fish, twisting her freshly healed ankle. "F...Fuck..." She panted, tone heavy with pain.

She laid there, waiting for her breath to catch back up, her eyes unfocused, "Mama is gonna kill me...if these coyotes don't..."

She heard the sounds of animals nearby, but no more sounds of the cryptid. Then, she felt a jet of air being blown onto her. Huffing and investigative sniffing, and even the flick of a forked tongue.

She stopped breathing, eyes wide in fear and awe. What could she do? Her ankle was twisted and she couldn't move. She was dead for sure.

He was curious. She didn't look like his usual prey. She wasn't a hunter, she had no weapon that he could see. "What.. are.. you?" A voice said, a little hoarse. It had been some time since he'd spoken like this

"N...Noa..." She answered, "My name's Noa...I've heard so much about you...I...I wanted to find you and be your friend..."

He quickly carried her to the middle of the desert, into some very old ruins, most likely used by native tribes ages ago.
