David waited on his motorbike, looking through his camera at the cafe across the road. To the untrained eye, he was the archetypical paparazzo. Muscular, long dark hair, a little grubby. Not to be messed with.
He wasn't any old paparazzo, though. And his target wasn't any old celebrity.
He was her biggest fan. He'd been to all her concerts, bought all her records. Watched all her videos, over and over and over again.
Something had clicked, broken, perhaps, in his mind, weeks ago, when watching one of her videos on Youtube. Now, he was obsessed. He had to have her. He would have her. Today.
And he was so close, the voice in his head taunted. So close. For in the cafe opposite, all alone, sat the pop-star Ellie Goulding.
He watched from across the street, until she left, and then began to follow on his motorbike.
