The carriage ride was more bumpy than he remembered that. The winding road to the manor was so often in disuse, and the man had tried to preoccupy himself with literally anything other than speech. The cart was small intimate, and there for uncomfortable considering the actions he had just gone through, even with the carriage's window open the air was humid and stale.

Nicholas was a recluse, a landowner who stayed away from the town and prefered the tranquility of an estate huddled away from the rest of town. So already he was bad with talking to people, add to that the fact that he was currently playing host to a young woman and he had felt even more awkward.

Add to that the fact that he had bought the girl from a slaves auction and this became the most awkward situation he could imagine.

Nicholas sat in his seat for a long moment looking out the window trying to think of something to say. He looked a the girl who was sitting across from him. Nicholas for his part was wearing his hood, obscuring the dark hair, and blue eyes, but allowing his clean shaven face to be shown, he was probably a haunting figure to most. A man at the age of 45, he was tall, and imposing physically yet mentally unnerved, and trying his best not to show it.

"What's your name." It was the first thing he had said to her the entire time the two had been together, he had bought her nearly three hours ago, and this ride had been taking... much longer than he had remembered it taking. While the two and their driver had set out at noon, the sun was now looking like it would become a more dim orange as it dipped behind the mountains.

She was the top prize of the day in the auction block, her slender form her shapely curves made her the crazy for every man their. Her captors, had torn away most of her clothes only leaving enough to cover her breasts and her womanhood, they knew the pretty ones always drew a high price. She stood there as men argued back and forth driving her price higher and higher, she could see the lust in there’s and she whimpered at the thought of what they might do to her. But then suddenly a man offered a price no man could match.

She was taken off the block and shoved roughly into a carriage by her captors, she huddled in a corner as her knew owner climbed into the carriage with her. He was silent for most of the ride and she knew better than ask questions. When suddenly after three hours he spoke to her. She looked up at him, her vibrant purple eyes searching for his under the hood. “Alaina....sir” she said meekly, she was trembling both from the cold due to lack of clothes but also from fear. Fear of what was to become of her now.

It took him a moment to realize that she was shivering. He had been more focused on his own thoughts and world, and hadn't really paid attention to the girl across from him, but when he heard her voice he realized that she was shaking slightly. He could tell that she was afraid. The carriage continued to roll for a few more minutes with no change to the room after he learned that her name was Alaina, he nodded.

When the carriage stopped he got up from his seat first, opening the door, and even holding out his hand to help the young woman down from the carriage stepping down to the damp garden ground of his estate. Walking up to his driver he held out his hand. "Your Jacket."

Taking the heavy leather coat he walked back around to Alaina and placed the coat over her shoulders. "We will have to get you clothing later. For now this will have to do."

"For now, how are you feeling?" His eyes even hidden by his coat seemed to look the woman up and down as if he was examining her for some reason. "Are you hungry."

He was silent again after asking her name, she wasnt sure what to make of him. She looked down at her hands they continued on their travels. As the carriage stopped she couldn’t help but look out the window at her new home, or prison she wasnt sure. She prepared to climb out of the carriage when sudddenly he offered his hand to her. She small gently placed her hand on his larger one. Her hands were soft like silk.

As she emerged from the carriage the air was cold and her teeth chattered, she was a slender girl and no real body weight to keep her warm. She was 20 years old fresh and young, she stood about 5’3. She was beautiful like the finest porcelain doll. She looks looked delicate, this what had attracted the slavers to her, they knew the moment they saw her that she would fetch them a pretty penny and she had.

Suddenly the drivers coat was placed on her shoulders and it seemed to swallow her, but she relished the warmth wrapping it around her tighter. “Thank you Master.” She said once again searching for his eyes, she wanted to so badly see his eyes, she couldn’t explain why. “Yes master I am hungry” her voice still so meek as she replied.

He didn't correct her when she called him master, if anything there was a slight smile that graced his face when she called him such. When she thanked him, and told him he was hungry he simply nodded, glad that the hood actually hid the slight blush at that. Nor the thoughts that raced past his mind when she held his hand, and the slight stutter of his heart at the way she walked.

She was beautiful, as a man who lived secluded from most of society he couldn't exactly deny that fact. He was taller than her by a head, and if he had wanted too he could have probably rested his chin atop her. His broad frame and sturdy hands looking like they could have swept the girl off her feet, but that was the stuff of a cheesy romance novel which he kept on his bedside table, not the reality that the two were in. He walked not ahead of her as she may have expected but beside her, giving her back her hand as the two walked.

His garden was over grown, the grounds looking less tended, the estate, was an old manner, while it wasn't falling apart by any means, the weeds and roots of the plants around it had seemingly tried to take back the house covering it in a wall of green. The wood creaked as the two of them walked across the ground providing small sounds of nature as they walked past the natural barrier.

As he approached the home, the lanterns flicked to life lit with a bright green flame of an other worldly nature, the doors opened on their own granting the two of them passage into the rustic estate which slowly came to life by their prescience. Only now did Nicholas take off his hood. His blue eyes aglow in the darkened hallway, the white tattoos under his eyes and along the left side of his face sticking out from the rest of what would have otherwise been a plain but handsome man.

A group of servants whisked together as if summoned from else where, not having entered the room yet appearing before the two of them. "This is Alaina she is my new assistant you will treat her with all the reverence that you would me, but she is not to leave this house unattended yet."

As the walked together into the house she was startled by the lanterns coming to life on their own. They were hauntingly green color her eyes watch them for a moment as they enter the house. She looked around the hall way her eyes darting back and forth when suddenly they landed on him. He had removed his hood, she could finally see the eyes she had been longing to see. Her own purple eyes locked on his. As she looked into his she was searching them, they were not anything like the slavers that had captured her. Their are were dark and heavy with hate. His eyes however were soft, and she thought they were filled with kindness. Time would only tell if that held true, but his eyes gave her hope that she might be ok here.

She was startled when the servants came in she was so focused on his eyes. She listen as he gave his instruction figuring she would be told her orders just like the servants, but she wasn’t he told them she would be his new assistant. She raised an eyebrow. Once the servants was gone back to their duties she looked at him again, “Master, I am sorry if this is to forward, but what do you mean by new assistant.” Her voice soft she saw kindness in his eyes but still was not sure it was her place to speak without being spoken to, but she had to try.

Nicholas again did not correct the girl when she called him master, instead reaching up and patting her on the head. "I can explain that soon, but first lets have some tea." He said guiding her gently by the shoulder towards the dining room.

"While you live here there are a few rules that I need to go over with you." As he spoke he was leading her away from the main hall, and into a dinning hall that was frankly a little too big for just the two people who were standing in it. Walking to a smaller table at the farther corner he gestured for her to take a seat first even pulling out her chair for her. As he sat down one of the servants brought them a kettle with hot water and tea bags.

"Alania," He said using her proper name rather than what some slaver would have called her or cared about. "I know you have been through a harrowing experience and I do wish I could grant you time to recover, but the truth is I am on a bit of a schedule, that i can't afford to break from. So for now I'm just going to go over the basics of this house."

"If you have need or want of anything, you can ask the serving staff, they will assist you as you become comfortable with the environment. The third floor will be off limits to you, and you will find a few doors on the first and second have been locked. I will show you to your room after we are done today, as it will be in the room across the hall from my own. For now I'd ask that you not leave the gardens, the mountain side can be difficult to navigate at night, and is often covered with wolves. I've asked the staff not to allow you to leave, but ultimately that choice is up to you now, if you try to leave I can't grantee your safety outside of these walls."

"Further more I will be calling upon you early in the morning. When I summon you, or I send one of the staff to find you, I expect that you come to me, aside from that and the aformentioned doors, you basically have free reign to roam. Oh but tell me... can you read?"

She followed him through the house and into the dinning hall. It was far to great a room for them to enjoy a simple tea. But he showed her to a smaller table. She looked at him a moment as he pulled out a chair for her. She smiled and took her seat. As she sat down she drew the coat he had given her around her, she was stil very cold.

Alaina listened to his words carefully. Taking note of all he said but still she didn’t understand. “Master i am sorry to be so forward but I still don’t understand what you expect from me, what would you be expecting of me when you call on me in the morning?” She paused a moment “yes I can read.”
