Ren had taken all he could stand of the orphanage. He'd been in it for as long as he could remember, and for all that time he remembered absolutely hating it. He hated being there, he hated the people who ran it and he hated the other orphans who lived there. All of them made his life a living hell, always the butt of the jokes, always the target of the older ones venting their frustrations for all the years he had spent growing up there, always hidden away when he was younger to make way for others to be chosen for adoption and now he was pretty much too old to have any chance of a loving family taking him. But now he'd had enough, now he'd taken all he was going to take. He had nothing to take, no bag to weigh him down, only the clothes on his back, and that just made the attempt to run away even easier. Nobody here would care when they noticed he was missing, probably wouldn't even call the police. Even if they did the police wouldn't care about yet another orphan on the streets, just one less thing to worry about really.
Unfortunately Ren hadn't gotten far from the orphanage when the heavens opened. Rain poured down more heavily than Ren had ever known it, and from nowhere the winds opened as if he were standing in the middle of a typhoon. It was so bad that despite everything Ren actually considered going back to the orphanage. No...no he couldn't. If he did that he would never work up the courage to make another attempt at this. So despite the weather Ren pushed on, moving against the wind, clutching himself as his clothes were soaked through to the point of practically not being there, his skin dripping wet, his entire body freezing.
"Need....need to get somewhere..." Ren managed to speak through his shivers, looking around desperately. He had barely ever left the orphanage, he didn't know his way around town, didn't know where he was going. But as he looked he finally found something, what looked like an old mansion. It seemed abandoned, in darkness, almost looking like nobody had been there in years. It would do, even if it wasn't warm it was shelter.
Ren slipped through a gap in the gates, pushing through the wind and rain to the front doors. They were locked, and they were rather big, thick and heavy. Cursing under his breath Ren started to make his way along the wall, checking windows until he finally found one that lifted up. Finally his luck seemed to be changing. With all the effort he could manage Ren pushed the window up enough for him to slip through, practically falling into the dark room, the window slamming shut loudly behind him. "Th-thank god!" Ren panted, on his hands and knees on the cold floor, water dripping from him, his clothes so soaked that they had started to turn transparent. Still, he was out of the wind and rain, now he had time to collect himself in this cold, dark mansion.
