Best to Hide
Eons had passed since the last time a being of any make had passed this close to the desolate planet. It’s sleeping forces were slow to waken and had nearly missed their chance to reach out and snatch the shuttle out from space, to turn it’s course, as a torrid wind raked along the desert wasteland and a primordial soup gurgled with toxic heat before a magma bubble burst from the oily black membrane to spark and sizzle against the arid sky.
Lightning sparked and flared, shooting from the alien planet to arc along the shuttle, disrupting currents and electricity, and sending it into a spiraling course through space. Already the air was thickening, stirring, forming into clouds as flames and droplets of rain began to pool against the escape pods surface, doing it’s part to slow down the course of the foreign metal, but nothing could stop it from lodging into the thick liquid sludge of the tar like goo.
The impact upon the planet was much greater than the tiny surface of the escape pod should have been. A great quake shook the deserts cracked surface and split fissures into its nexus with an echoing thunder, until the reverberations slowly died.
