Lewis was ready. It had been a slightly tough year, but now exams were over so he could forget about everything and binge watch series and play games. However, when his best friend, Sabrina, had texted him, inviting him to go out for drinks and then maybe a party, he had not been able to refuse. Normally he would have replied saying that it was not really his thing but that he was happy to meet them some other time to go to the cinema or just chill and watch some Netflix (not to confuse with Netflix & chill). But she was a stronger force than his sedentarism, as she always had been, so he had said yes. For the first time in months he had sort of combed his hair, at least placed it in the "correct" position with his hand, and he was wearing the blue shirt which his mother had told him to chuck into the suitcase, even though he was pretty sure he would never get to use it. It wasn't even supposed to be fancy, but it was either that or a stained t-shirt. He made a mental note to do the laundry as soon as possible, but he would forget, as always.
When he got the text from Sabrina, saying that she was waiting downstairs, he checked his keys, phone and wallet were in his pockets, said bye to his flatmate, and left. His first party in months was coming up but he was not that excited. It had never really gone that well for him, in his freshman year he had had two bad nights of drinking too much and not remembering much the next day, and he had taken that as a sign which meant that he would just not enjoy going out to bars and clubs. Perhaps this time it would be different. At least Sabrina had said that they would be hanging out with some cool friends, which were more about the music and less about the alcohol.
"Hey!" He greeted her with a long hug when he met her at the door of his building. Lewis hadn't seen her for almost two months, and he really missed her. Since they had moved to college it just seemed like the distance was starting to grow. They had new friends, new lifestyles, much more work to do, and finding time to spend with each other and share intimate thoughts was starting to be a struggle. Back in highschool they would hang out almost every day, but now that was changing and Lewis really missed it. "I'm so glad to see you," he said, with a big smile on his face once they broke the hug. "So, just as a warning before anything else: please don't let me drink too much." She knew about his previous experiences, but still, he just wanted to make sure someone would bring him to his senses if he didn't.
Lewis just followed, as she led the way to wherever they were going. He was not bothered about the fact that he hadn't even looked up the place in Google maps. He just trusted that Sabrina knew where they were going and that it would be fun. "So anyway! How's everything going? How did your exams go? Any plans for the summer?" Perhaps he was just bombarding out questions too fast, but he was genuinely eager to know about her life and get back on track with their relationship, now that he was going to have more spare time.
