Aidan O'Connor sighs and runs his fingers through his short, dark hair. "High school sucks ass. When will I ever actually use Pre-Calc in real life?" he thinks to himself. He scribbles a few more lines onto the graph paper with his pencil and then groans in frustration.
"I'll finish this later," he says out loud to no one in particular, as he tosses the math book to the side and stands up. He had been sitting in the shade of a quaint little tree near the edge of the quad. Fourth period was a free period for him; he had a study hall but had managed to sneak out. He was trying to do his Pre-Calc homework, but at the moment it's proving too much for him.
He stands up to his full height and stretches, taking a deep breath of fresh air. The weather is pretty perfect, so he's comfortable with his sleeves rolled up to his elbows and his top button undone. He grabs his math book and shoves it in his backpack, deciding to take a walk.
He heads down the quad and slips around the corner of Building B, being careful not to be too obvious. Lunch wasn't for another forty minutes and he was supposed to be in study hall. He makes his way toward Building C, where his study hall is, hoping to slip back into the lecture hall unnoticed. That was one advantage of being at a huge school; study halls were held in large lecture halls and the proctoring teachers or teacher aides seldom called roll or noticed absences.
As he rounds the corner of the building and jogs up the steps to the door of Building C, he sees something that makes his stomach drop. Ms. Goodwin is walking down the hall in his direction. He shrugs to himself; at this point she'd probably already seen him. Anyway, she's his favorite teacher and probably wouldn't be as hard on him as Mr. Ruce or Coach Brody. Aidan braces himself for admonishment and pulls open the door to Building C, frantically trying to think of good excuses as he approaches Ms. Goodwin. He sees her looking at him and prepares to be in trouble, but finds it hard to even be upset by this as his eyes roamed over her gorgeous figure.
Aidan had a huge crush on Ms. Goodwin. She was by far the hottest teacher at Lakeview High, and every single guy agreed on that. But beyond that, Aidan felt like Ms. Goodwin liked him back; she always treated him fairly and sometimes he got the impression that she understood him more than other teachers did.
Aidan's thoughts are interrupted by Ms. Goodwin's voice, snapping him out of his daydream and back to reality.

Hey by the way, would you mind bolding speech and italicizing thoughts? Still go ahead and use quotation marks, just also add the bold or italics.
It helps me keep track of dialogue better. Thanks!
