The salt air of the ocean still soothed Solomon even in death. It brought back alive distant memories of life that once was. Only history books have an idea of what life was like back then, or others like him that still walked the Earth.
Shrouded in perfect darkness he could see everything clearly in black and white. Billions of stars peppered the sky with ripples of the galaxy overhead like spilt milk. A wave crashing upon the shore ran across the sand far enough to nudge the tip of his combat boot as if reminding him not to idle too long.
On the beach there was a man standing close to a burning barrel standing out like a candle lit in a dark room. Adjusting the black face shield that covered his face just below the eyes and pulling his black hood down the vampire soundlessly approached the human keeping warm crossing the distance effortlessly in short time. Solomon was sure to approach from the front and to make noise so not to startle him. Nonetheless the man stiffened at the sight of him. Standing at 6'3 and wearing all black and sunglasses to boot, Solomon no doubt looked like an imposing encounter at 2430 at night on a deserted beach south of San Fransisco.
Tom Bianchi works as security guard for the Zuckerberg Hospital off Portrero Avenue. In his youth he was involved in the family business but now enjoyed a retired normal life few are lucky to get. However someone paid the family a lot of money to acquire info Tom had and in this rare instance they requested he personally divulge everything. The fact it couldn't be done through a message meant whoever this was had some serious clout.
The man he sent to speak with him looked absolutely terrifying and mysterious all the same.
Lets get this over with and go home Tom thought.
" Nice night were having isn't it?" His Sicilian accent like something from out of a movie.
" Sure is. Looks like you could use more wood in that fire." Solomon replied using the proper response to the challenge.
Tom visibly relaxed after confirming the guy was the right weirdo meeting him here.
" Tell your employer the person in question is in a highly secure room. Fifth floor room 567. Theres cops outside the door twenty four seven. Whole wing is shut down, they moved patients out of there and everything. I can't even step foot on the floor without permission. Theres talk they want to transfer the patient to a government facility tomorrow afternoon. Thats all I got. "
Tom knew better than to ask questions even as he witnessed the dark stranger literally fade into the shadows and vanish without so much as feet shuffling through the sand away. It was creepy as fuck, but he hasn't survived in the business this long by being stupid. Tom began walking back to his car looking forward a hot meal cooked by his wife and putting this in the back of his mind once this was over.
Solomon climbed into the drivers seat of his GMC Denali and turned the ignition on. The V8 engine roared to life as he punched in the address to the hospital on the GPS. "Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins began playing from his phones music list. The vampire smirked finding the track oddly fitting as he floored it from the Half Moon Bay park heading north into the city.
