Surreal chants filled the rocky crevasse. Echoes of blasphemous rites rebounded on granite and natural marble, the words hanging in the air like vines, winding themselves to entrap the young woman at the deepest end. She was cuffed to chains that were magically bound into the rock on either edge of her.

Behind her, hooded figures continued the ritual, letting her block between them and a rapidly-growing scarlet vortex before her. The chant continued, winding and rising until it had an iron grip on the very fabric of reality. Then there was a tearing sound as the energies of the vortex suddenly sucked past and through the rock wall behind it.

Terrible images of a dark and fiery world passed through the portal like water through a tap, with an enormous heat shimmering the air around the woman. Finally, a horrifying figure of wavering flame and shadow appeared at the portal, a horrible force crossing over into vulnerable reality.

“Raugh s’iah!” cried out the onlookers from behind the woman, but the figure had no concerns about them. His sole focus was the woman bound before him.

The figure itself was humanoid, with a tall thinness that stretched its frame beyond natural proportions. Naught else could be seen among the shadow and embers that surrounded it, save for two scarlet irises in too-human eyes.

Raugh lifted one hand to the woman, trailing smoke as he did so. He gently cupped her chin, turning her face from side to side. A deep rumbling voice said, “Are you supposed to be my lamb?”

Alisia stepped forward, nervous as she watched the ritual. She had heard something about the sacrifice not appearing and had been rushed here last minute. She was the prettiest girl of her village, and it seemed as if they were hoping her beauty would make up for her lack of designation.

The young blond was wearing a fabric-thin shift that showed off her body well and helped to illustrate her curves. Her long hair was pushed to the side of her face, and her piercing blue eyes looked ahead, though they were filled with terror.

And then the long shadow arose from the pit and walked towards her. She instinctively backed up a few steps, before stopping herself, realizing just how foolish a notion it was. She gulped as his long, tendril-like fingers cupper her pale chin, his fiery eyes inspecting her like cattle. When he talked, the ground beneath the pair seemed to tremble the slightest bit.

"I think so, y-yes" she stuttered, summoning as much courage as she could to face the shadowy figure. She hoped her death would appease him, for who knew what wrath he would incur on the world lest he leave the ritual grounds angered.

The High Priest ran, leaving pride behind along with his most elite followers. None of this was going according to his plan. This should have been easy. Find a woman that appeased his God, give her over, and then back to fucking the daughters of his congregation.

But instead, they’d drawn the lots, the Chosen had run off, and this stupid bitch must have done something to tip off his God of the switch. Now, he was running for his life from that stupid cunt who couldn’t even die correctly.

With a deep dread, he heard the crackling footfalls of the woman that he had intended to sacrifice. His pace went faster, breaths coming heavy and deep as he sought to push his portly frame to greater speed. It was for nought, as he felt sharp burning erupt along his back from the woman’s talons.

As he hit the ground, the priest gurgled in disbelief, and then he was silent, his head detached from his body by the woman.

Raugh chuckled as his wolf returned to him. “Yes. Yes, my fierce hound.” He stroked her luscious hair and tickled under her distended chin. “Now go. Find my lamb and return her to me. Alive.” He kissed the creature on her head and then motioned into the darkness.
