Lucas breathed a sigh of relief and wiped his brow as he finally flattened the last box, he had no idea they'd had so much stuff. He and his mother had just moved to this town, halfway across the country, after she and his father had gotten divorced. Apparently his father had decided that women over the age of 25 were too old for him and had decided to run off to shack up with some young new gold digging girlfriend. Sure it had been a shock at first, but he and his mother had gotten over it with one anothers help, and when his mother had been offered the job of School Principal at a High School far away from their old home full of painful reminders she had jumped at the chance.
Now that they were unpacked Lucas had decided it was time to go and meet the neighbours, better to do it sooner rather than later right? Plus in an unfamiliar town like this they were likely to need a few friendly faces here and there. After making sure all of the cardboard boxes had been flattened and put away Lucas waved goodbye to his mother and headed out, glancing around. The street was a nice quiet little cul-de-sac, houses all around them. It seemed quiet and peaceful enough at least, fairly typical for this little town. After looking left and right Lucas eventually decided on the house to the right of his own, walking over and knocking on the door, taking a step back as he waited for a response.
