Alena Sandra sighed as she stood at a pair of locked gates, chained, locked and sealed to even her. A sign hanging from the lock with writing in blocky, solid and soulless lettering. 'Closed Indefinitely', half a decade of her life, working with sea-life, rehabilitating animals, working her way to part ownership of the place, gone and closed. The last independently owned aquarium in the city, probably the state, was gone, bought up by Seaworld. Its animals, supplies, land... her and the all the debt she'd tied into the company, all owned by the corporation now. They didn't call it slavery, not these days, bad for the public image, but ever since the Mega-Corporations effectively bought up the government, well, they could do what they wanted with those they had bought.
With a sigh, Alena turned, the five foot nothing woman easily sliding into the seat of her little compact. Turning the engine, she started to drive, taking one last glance at what had been her life. Now she headed for the local Seaworld Park, where the management were expecting her. She had to hope she could keep some semblance of her former work. She was a good handler and with her modifications to breath underwater, she'd be perfect for it, surely? She sighed again and before long was starting to park. The redhead was doubting her luck there.
Slowly heading out of her car, she headed inside. Management were expecting her, and she didn't dare be late for her new life, such as it was.
