The heavy chains holding the prisoner's arms slipped from the guards' hands with a sudden tug. Her shoulder rammed into the gut of one of the soldiers. She held him while one of her legs kicked out at his partner. The key was tugged from the first guard's pocket, and with a satisfying clanking, the chains fell from her wrists. Flashes of red hair filled the air as her head shot from side to side, then streamed behind her as she charged for the stairs.

Three steps at a time, her large paw-like feet carried her up the stairs, and into the flat of the steel blade coming down at her head. Her heroic escape was ruined. She crumpled to the floor, her vision swimming for a moment before everything faded away into a blend of pain, dizziness, and anger.

The pain was the first thing there as she came to once more. Luckily, though, it was only a dull, throbbing sensation now, clustered in the front of her forehead. She could feel that her head was lighter than usual--of course, they had taken her hat, the lovely red and black with gold trim hat, with the white plume stuck into it.

At least the rest of her clothes were still there, she thought: the boots, the trousers, the shirt and vest. All of them were matching shades of red and black, and they both showed and covered a body with lush curves, a powerful set of muscles...and tawny fur. Her appearance was considerably feline, though she acted perfectly normal--or at least, within the bounds of how humans would act.

She sulked in the corner of her cell, staring at the patch of sunlight shining in from the barred window on the wall far above her, then up at the cell across from her, then back down, feeling her eyes starting to droop. It was hard to stay awake like this, where there was nothing to do. She felt as if she just wanted to sleep, and then everything would be better.

  • She had always been the kicking type. The sort who didn't mind getting her foot caught somewhere mildly inappropriate then totally ignoring the fact that she had done so, though when they had captured her, she hadn't entirely been aware, no she'd actually been asleep. Was it so wrong for a young woman to sleep? Apparently if said young woman had pissed off a bar maid downstairs, drawing in the attention from her men and rendering them all unfaithful, evidently, the woman was pissed off and decided to call in a few authorities, not because she knew she was a pirate, but because she was a 'Disruption to her Business'. What the hell were they doing being drunk so early in the morning anyway? The sun was just waiting to shoot itself above the horizon, though with a shake of her head, she knew there never really was a wrong time to drink.

Simply wrong places. Having only been clad in the loose fabric of a button down shirt that she'd just happened to have borrowed from one of the men downstairs, she smiled softly because maybe she had caused a little bit of trouble downstairs. Though she'd fallen asleep a short time later, a dagger strapped to her stomach and a seat of weapons just next to her on the bed, it was merely a matter of reaching up and grabbing her swords and before they knew it she was armed. However, to sleep on a bed that wasn't being calmed, and sometimes thrown, by waves, the woman found it comforting and absolutely breathtaking.

The sound of thudding boots hitting the ground didn't necessarily destroy her slumber, although it did cause her to turn, before she knew it there were men in her room and not for the best of reasons. That didn't mean they didn't take their looks at the female who was merely clad in simply her underwear, a shirt, and fishnets, the shirt at which had risen up during her time of dreaming, that first hand to reach out and touch her seemed to immediately regret doing such a thing. A foot immediately flew up and crashed into his jaw, and instantly the struggle began. Which brought us to where we are now, the female strapped to a chair, her hands tied together and tied a bit more to avoid her getting her hands or arms out so quickly, plus her legs tied at the ankles to the legs of the chair, the pissed off redhead was a sight to see, fuming in anger as they carted her down to the cells. Another set of rope added just beneath her full chest, the woman knew that getting out of this would take a bit of time; Unfortunately.

The male she had kicked in the face making eye contact with her, a grin spread her full lips and caused him to hold himself back from reaching out and doing something out of his cards, the female was set in what looked to be an empty cell, being carefully pushed in to avoid her toppling over ( not that they cared ). The balls of her feet against the floor, another set of eye contact was made before finally she looked around the cell, red hair falling over half her face as she turned to a near corner and raised a brow slightly, "Well this is awkward."[/list:u]

By the time that the noise of the struggling woman made it to the prisoner's ears, the pain in her head had faded for the most part, as did the splitting headaches whenever she tried to look at something brightly lit. She merely watched quietly as the woman and chair were both thrown into her cell, wisely wagering that she might get another lump on her head if she tried to charge the door. She needed her head; that was how she would get out.

Pushing her manacled hands against the wall for support, she slowly rose to her feet. She peered down at her new company with a sort of vageuly curious expression, as if she were looking at a dress through a shop window that was pretty, but that she had no interest in buying. "Who are you?" she asked simply, pacing around the chair so that the female wouldn't have to crane her head around. "Let me guess...barmaid, indecent exposure?"

  • Not waiting too long for a response and already the female was curling her hands in awkward ways, dealing with the rope burning with a set of winces from time to time, the woman's fingertips began to carefully pull the rope up from her wrists. Glancing up when she found her 'cell mate' pacing around her as though she wanted to get a better look, the first thing she noticed was her feet, Maelani staring down at the huge pawed feet with their claws, she blinked lightly before going back to pulling at the rope, looking up only once when the question was asked of who she was. Her voice was familiar, or maybe it was just being in this cell was screwing with her mind already.

However, when her grand idea to 'guess' why she was here came about and the idea of her being a barmaid flew into the air as well, the woman stopped and immediately made eye contact with the large cat. "And let me guess, you got caught playing in someone's rubbish?" No she wasn't some barmaid who had gotten tossed in here for indecent exposure, and letting out a sigh because quite frankly this familiar looking feline was probably the only person who would be willing to untie her, "No I'm not a barmaid. I was asleep for shit's sake." She grumbled, not to say she hadn't done a few things earlier in the day and not to say she didn't have a nice bounty on her head, that was totally beside the point. [/list:u]

The feline scoffed lightly, shaking her head at the woman tied tightly to the chair. "They've got me in for trying to kidnap the governor's daughter. They seem to have the strangest idea that I'm some sort of pirate captain, so I get to sit here and wait while they scour all the ships to try to find the crew they think is hiding out somewhere." She paused as she drifted into thoughts of the girl for a moment, then shook her head and resumed her conversation.

"So you're not a barmaid. Good job, though I do think you'd have a good body for it. My name's Morrigan McGrath, by the way. I'd shake your hand, but I can't see where mine are right now, or move them too well," she said with a wry grin, rattling the manacles that held her hands behind her back.

  • Raising a brow just slightly when she announced that they were searching ships, she knew her crew knew better than to linger too long on the ship, and even if a few of the pirates were on the ship, even in searching her ship, the money they had collected earlier in the day wouldn't generate any problems. Smiling softly to herself, because once she got out of here she would definitely be robbing something once she got out of here, her eyes glanced up at the feline again when she spoke again of her lack there of being a barmaid. "Well if I ever become a barmaid, I'll let you get something for free." But since she wasn't ever going to aim for being a barmaid, the woman glanced up at the ring of the name, scrunching her nose just slightly because that name was ungodly familiar.

Ah well, she was probably being delusional, and in shaking her head softly, she decided she might as well say her name, it wouldn't hurt and she was chained up, "Maelani Toah. Nice to meet you." She replied, looking down at the feline's feet again, her brain coming up with ideas, carefully but surely, the balls of her feet still being the only part of her feet on the floor.[/list:u]

"That's very hypothetically generous of you," she said. She stepped up in front of Maelani, looking down at her, then straddled her legs and sat down on top of her lap, her tail swaying from side to side, brushing over the woman's knees. "I bet you want to get out of there, don't you? Weill, I bet I could cut through those ropes with a bit of work. But what's in it for me if I do? It could take upwards of an hour or two, and I don't want to have to do that without any kind of compensation. "

Their bodies slowly leaned together, and Morrigan let out a long, slow purr, making both of them seem to vibrate just a little. "So, what's your offer?" she asked.

  • With her hands busy and evidently having no way out of her bind without the help of the other female in the room, she cocked a brow up just slightly when her legs were straddled and her lap was occupied by Morrigan. Her tail dusting across her legs causing her to shiver softly, the woman made eye contact with her as she began speaking of offering her help to get out of the restraint. Head tilting just softly with a bit of curiosity, and of course there was a catch, to which caused her brow to raise once their bodies pressed against each other, Maelani licked her lips softly. Leaning forward with what she could, her breasts set just beneath the feline's before murmuring, "I suppose I could give you that barmaid offer ahead of time. But only if you cut these ropes." The offer was a good one, considering that even when she was untied, she couldn't get out of the cell without a few more moments of thought, and it wasn't necessarily in her to get help then to suddenly leave her ever so hospitable cell mate chained up. [/list:u]

"Well, that sounds like a plan I can get behind," Morrigan told her, smiling as she rose up off of her lap, then walked around to Maelani's back. She crouched down on one knee and peered at the ropes. With her hands locked behind her back, it was easiest just to use her teeth to undo the knots. She sunk her canines into the rope, tugging one way, then grabbing another tiny loop and tugging the other way to loosen it. Every so often, she would pull and the ropes would tighten, but after a good long time, the ropes around her waist suddenly slackened. Then, the ones around her arms, and her neck, and her feet--and then she was free, the ropes falling off of her easily. "Now, for my reward?" she heard Morrigan purr from behind, her warm breath against Maelani's neck.

  • Eyes following her as she lifted herself from her lap and moved behind her, turning her head to look at the bars that kept them in the cell, her mind was twirling around an idea, knowing there was only one guard at the very entrance of the cell range, and he was probably the only one guarding them for the day. She'd seen that he had a single sword, and the keys, but she could fix that, taking in a bit of breath when the ropes tightened around her waist a bit, though once they all began to slack, the female found that she could slide her hands out easily. Maelani pulling her ankles out of their confines as well, she gently rolled her joints, closing her eyes for a moment when the feline spoke against the soft skin of her neck.

Standing up, her back remained toward Morrigan as she carefully smoothed out the shirt that stopped at the middle of her thighs, legs still covered in fishnets guiding her toward the bars, knowing even with the little light that there was pouring through the small window, he couldn't see that she had gotten out of the confines of her chair. Placing her index finger to her full lips as she looked over her shoulder at the feline as if telling her 'Ssh', Maelani used that same finger with her thumb to whistle loudly, the guard turning his head to notice the smooth leg of a woman sticking out of a cell. Evidently, she would make a damn good barmaid, but shoving that thought down as her lips curled into a smile when the male stumbled to the bars, she crooked her finger at him gently, leaning forward and mumbling something into his ear.

Her arms quietly slinking through the bars as well, her movements were quick and he was evidently not expecting them, her leg raising and her knee bending, her elbows crashing down at a pressure point in his shoulders, not only would he wake up with a severe crotch issue, but his arms quite frankly would be dislocated. However, watching him fall to the ground and lay still, the female reached out and carefully grabbed the ring of keys from around his waist, turning away from the unconscious male before jingling the keys softly. Turning and moving toward Morrigan, easily pushing the chair off to the side, her hands found themselves at her hips, teasingly raising a brow and jingling the keys again, "I don't suppose it would be too much of a reward if you can't use your hands." And it was true, though taking her time to move behind her and go through three keys before finally the shackles clicked softly and hit the ground in an awkward clang, her hands found themselves again at her hips. [/list:u]

Morrigan slipped around the chair and quietly sat in the warm seat. The guard could probably guess that one of them was tied up, though he might not know or care which one it was. She simply wanted to make sure he didn't get suspicious; she was eager to get out. Her tail coiled around one of the legs of the chair as the man marched over, her back stiffening. She had to resist the urge to lash out at the guard and attack him, so she pretended to be ashamed of herself, hanging her head and letting her ears droop sadly.

When she heard the sudden, pained sound of the man crashing to the floor with an assortment of new injuries, she knew it was safe to stand up again. "Of course not, so hurry and unlock me," she purred, holding still while she seemed to draw out looking for the key and unlocking the manacles. When they clanked off of her hands, it felt like her arms could almost float, so used to the weight were they. She shook her arms lightly, then draped them over Maelani's neck and pressed her flat feline nose to the human female's.

"I hate to keep delaying this reward, but I think it would be better to take it somewhere safer. After all, if we're going to be knocking out guards, why not go whole hog and break out of jail while we're at it?" she suggested, giving Maelani a brief, eager kiss to show she wanted the reward still.

  • The keys jingling softly again as they were around her wrist, the female turned her head carefully toward the bars and she found herself gripping at the key that looked like a similar fit to the one that locked them in, she jumped only softly when she felt the feline's arms lay themselves around her neck. Looking back to Morrigan, it seemed that at the time that their eyes met again, their noses were pressed against each other, raising a brow upward just slightly, knowing that if they both get out and never see one another again, the feline is simply out of luck. However, if they both get out and cross paths again, that reward will probably still be held against her. The thought left her without a problem, her eyes going half lidded when she found Morrigan's lips against hers for a quick kiss as though to seal the deal, the woman rolled her eyes lightly, knowing she was definitely going to need to get her clothes.

And to see where the hell her crew was, Maelani slid out of the feline's grasp moving toward the bars carefully and sliding her hand out to waver it in front of the lock, sliding the key in and smiling faintly because it fit. Twisting it carefully, and hearing the clicks as the key shifted the locks, pushing forward, the barred door opened and the keys again jingled at her wrist when she slid the key out. Reaching down immediately and snatching the sword up from the unconscious man's side, the woman situated the sword in her grip before looking back at the feline, "I suppose trying to barge out is how you got that then?" It was an assumption that she knew was probably correct, nodding faintly to her head before looking up at the ceiling. The jail was two leveled, the upper half being simply where the guards awaited and dwelled while the jail cells sat as a something of a basement.

Counting the few she had seen and the ones that had carried her downstairs, Maelani excluded the one she had taken out and found that there were a good eight upstairs, unless some of them had left to go assist in searching ships. Or unless some had returned from said trip. "Well, we're not doing whatever it is you did again." She stated simply, looking back up the stairs and at the closed door, moving to one of the empty cells and looking back to Morrigan, "Get ready." The plan was simple and obvious, to create a distraction and go as an ambush, because quite frankly, two people was a lot better than just one. Plus the added help of a sword didn't do too bad either. Standing by the bars, just as soon as she had spoke up, the female began to move the sword over the bars, the clanging noise rendering a broad sound and the footsteps of men upstairs. [/list:u]

The door that sat at the top of the stairs swung open, casting a splash of golden light down into the dark jail cells. "Roland, Matthew, come on. Some kinda row goin' on," a voice said, before three sets of footsteps clumped down the stairs. The men that emerged all looked rather similar in their rough shirts and trousers, all grinning at the girl standing seemingly alone in the last cell.

Morrigan had wedged herself out of sight in the corner and had pulled aside the chair, in the hopes that the men wouldn't realize she was there, or that there was supposed to be another person in the cell. Her hands were pressed against the stone and her hands were clenched into fists. She was ready to spring when Maelani surprised the guards, and just waited for her to initiate the attack.

"What's all this noise we're hearing?" the man in front asked, tall and rather severe-looking, giving her a glare down over the edge of his long nose. "We don't have to tie you up some more, do we?" he asked, narrowing his eyes at her, and leaning his head close enough to the bars that the tip of his nose poked through.

  • She knew the looks in their eyes as they all looked at her, individually eying her up and looking over the attire she had been captured in, the woman decided it best to ignore the expressions on their faces, considering payback was slowly coming. Sure, she had taken a bit of money just yesterday, but to capture her in her sleep? It was unnecessary. Frowning just softly, the female remained in the faint shadow of the cell, Maelani moved carefully to stand in the light, the sword hidden behind her back expertly, easy to be mistaken as her arms being shackled, when he began to glare at her as though there were something awful in his mouth. Perhaps that was just naturally his face?

Shaking off the thought, her head tilted just lightly to the side, moving only a few feet away from the bars and the man's body, her mind was ticking over how easy it would be to simply aimlessly swing at him through the bars, though her mind cleared that thought and decided a straighter, easier shot would be to simply stab him. "I don't suppose I would want that." With this being said, the woman instantly pulled the sword out from around her back and quickly she stabbed it through his chest, making sure that it pushed through before quickly pulling it out. She had no fear in killing a man, and she had no fear in killing a man, specifically one who gave her a look such as he had, the two that were with him seemed taken aback, though they were instantly digging their key into the lock to already find the jail cell opened.

Maelani couldn't possibly take the both of them, considering their size and that the feline was lurking in the corner, the metal bars swung back instantly and the two men charged after Maelani, unaware of anyone else. [/list:u]

When the sword began to move through the air, the muscles in her legs were like springs ready to be sprung. The bars swung open, and the two other guards immediately rushed forward, pulling their swords from their sheaths. They were both just inside the cell when a large tawny blur knocked them sideways, crashing into one, who was bowled into the other. Both collapsed onto the floor, with Morrigan on top of them, moving with the sort of agility that one would expect of someone like her.

She sunk her claws into the chest of the top one, lifting him up and slamming him, face-first into the wall. Just to be sure that he would be out of the picture, she shifted her grip to the back of his head, and gave him another solid smack against the wall before sending him into a crumpled mass at her feet.

While she dispatched one of them, the other was struggling to rise with his hand on his sword, halfway out of the sheath and sticking out awkwardly.

  • Their actions were swift and to the point that it was all almost a blur, the female taking only one step back before the feline jumped out of her position and knocked the men down, taking one into her own hands before Maelani carefully kicked the sword out of the man's grasp. Snatching the collar of his shirt up, the woman pressed the sword against his neck, straddling him after knocking him back and onto the ground. Her knees set themselves down against his arms, keeping him from getting up as she leaned over his face, eyes narrowing at him, "Have they finished searching the ships?" The question was something simple, the slight fear showing in his eyes because evidently she wasn't afraid to slice his neck.

"Y - Yes. . They just g- got back." She could hear him try to carefully move his sword, though upon the instant he answered, the female slid the blade cautiously across his neck, not wanting to make a mess as she stood up and looked between the set of laid out men. Dusting her hands off carefully and sliding out of the cell again, moving toward the golden light that was waiting for her at the top of the stairs, glancing back and over her shoulder for a moment, "When exactly do you plan on taking your reward?" It was a curious question, looking over her shoulders as her long legs pressed against each other, her curvy figure outlined by the light.[/list:u]

"I think that it would be a perfect end to a daring escape from jail, if you ask me," Morrigan said, picking the sword up off the ground and testing it with a swipe through the air. Or if they were captured, it would be a good way to go out before the hanging. But she didn't want to think about that too much; the more she thought about failure, the more likely it would be to happen, she always had said. She gripped the sword and moved out into the hallway with Maelani.

"So what are our plans?" she asked as the two moved quietly toward the staircase. Luckily for them, their surprise attack had been relatively quiet, and so the other guards shouldn't have realized that they were free yet.

  • Knowing that there definitely had to be a few more men upstairs, this escape was going to have to be a rather daring one, if in fact it was an escape at all, depending on whether or not they got tossed back into jail and prepared a little early than expected for their punishment; Whatever that was. However, turning to look back at the feline when she asked if she had a plan, she definitely did not have a plan and had no problem with saying it to Morrigan, "I don't have the slightest of clue as to what we're going to do." She spoke quietly, her voice soft and at a hushed tone so that no one up above could hear them, she knew that eventually there would be men coming down the stairs to check on their three comrades and see what had gone on downstairs. Sure, they hadn't heard a thing as far as what had happened to them, but Maelani was drawing along blank as far as how they were going to get out of here. "Any from you?"[/list:u]

"If we try to lure more down, they'll probably all come down, and they'll be ready for a fight. We want to fight as few of them as possible, right?" she said, not needing an answer for her question. She stuck the sword in her belt behind her back, so that it was hidden from anyone standing in front of her. "Just follow my lead, and if I'm not too rusty, we'll be out of here soon enough." She walked to the foot of the stairs, then added, "Might want to hide your sword."

The guards lounging around the guardhouse and waiting for their companions to come back from checking on the prisoners all stiffened and put their hands on their swords as they heard a shrill voice coming from the stairwell. "I'll see to it that a formal investigation of the guard is carried out! I've never been treated so rudely in all my life!" Morrigan shouted as she climbed up the stairs, putting on a convincing enough impression of a sophisticated woman's speech. As she came to the top of the stairs, she shot a perplexing glare at the guards. "If you would be so kind," she said in a manner that was anything but kind, "I believe the governor would like to have his daughter's new governess and teacher out of their wrongful imprisonment. You're lucky that I'm not hurt, or by the heavens you would be sitting in that filthy cell, once the governor finds out what you'd done." Her nose was turned up a little, and she looked at them all with a disdainful, irritated gaze.
