The blond prince stood on the deck of the massive wooden ship. The only thought in his head was, 'My gods, am I really doing this?' and it just kept playing over and over in his mind. He was leaving behind his beloved home to get married, and of course it was against his will. The prince had no say in this at all. Why would he after all? He was the younger of the two. Though not by much. From what he heard he was only younger by a year and a half. Not much in his mind. Not enough to warrant what was happening to him. It was too late though. The prince couldn't turn his back on this now. It was all set up and his mother was running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. She was happy about this. At least someone was.

"Prince Tala, we'll be there soon," the captain called out to him and he nodded. The slender male sighed softly and wandered back to his bedroom. The room was dark as the prince had covered the windows with a blanket. He didn't want to see the Fire Nation until he absolutely had to. He wandered over to the large mirror near his bed and looked at himself.

Beautiful sea foam green robes with dark blue hems and clam shell clasps all the way down the front covered his slender body and clung to his hips some. It showed off his body rather well, though it embarrassed Tala greatly. His father was not happy with this marriage and had told his son to be dressed as womanly as possible. Even his moon beam blond hair had been braided into one long braid that trailed down his back. Normally it was just yanked back into a pony tail tied at the base of the back of his neck. His pale skin had been dusted very lightly with gold powder. It was horrible in his mind. He felt like a damn doll.

"Tie it to the dock!" he heard yelling outside his window and pulled the covers over some to see. The sight was as horrible as he thought it would be. This place was nothing like his home. He missed the clear blue waters, the hermit crabs, and the boats. The fire people were too harsh and uncaring towards nature, he didn't want to be here.

A knock at the door caused the boy to jump, "I'm coming," he snapped before storming out the door and up to the docks. Not only was he a doll, but he was being paraded in front of the whole Fire Nation. He could feel all their eyes on him, wondering how a thing like him would please their prince. As much as he hated this, he knew that he had no choice and that he might as well make the best of it. If anything, they could try to be friends, right? That was the only glimmer of hope in the back of the blond's head as his green eyes looked up the stairs to the fire palace and saw people standing at the top. One of them possibly being his future husband.

Rin groaned lightly as the hours drew on. Achingly boring and rather pain staking. He groaned and slumped in his red crushed velvet arm chair. He wasnt to excited about what was going to happen later during the day. Though he willingly accepted it for many reasons. One not including companionship. For all he cared he would be single for the rest of his life, but that was not what his parents wished for him.

He did have a few other marraige proposals. From two eager Air princesses. Who were not to his liking, never really took interest in girls before. They were to annoying for his prefrences. If he was going to get married then he would get married to a man. The only reason why he willingly would marry the boy was that he could only go out into battle if he was in fact married.

As he lounged about in his room, relaxing in a loose silk red shirt and a pair of rather tight black pants. His shirt was untucked and unbuttoned. Showing his flame tattoo covering the left side of his chest and down the rest of his left arm to his wrist. Which was covered by the shirt. He scowled as he looked up at the clock, time was going by so slow.

He soon dozed off in the chair. A but if drool dribbling down his chin. As the minutes ticked by and his new husband's arrival neared, a loud knock on his door just before his assistant/butler barged in. He was a young boy who seemed out of place in the fire nation. Good natured and kind, very sarcastic though."Wake up lazy knark!" The boy yelped when he spotted Rin sleeping in the chair.

Charles picked up a pillow and smack the boy sleeping boy in the face with it. Rin jumped up quickly and let out incoherant grunts. He blinked a few times and rubbed his blue eyes."Wh-what?" He groaned and ran his fingers through his fire engine red hair.

"He is here, he just arrived. hurry..." Charles grabbed Rin's arm and pulled him out of the room to where the rest of his family was standing and waiting. He quickly buttoned his shirt up a few and tucked it into his pants. Hoping that he looked some what decent though just waking up. He watched as a small group of people stood at the base of the stairs. Quickly Rin's parents made their way down the stairs to greet the new comers.

As they made their way towards the Fire family, Tala was starting to have second thoughts. This wasn't what he wanted. He wanted to go back home and get away from this place. It smelt horrible. It smelt like something was burning constantly and it was so warm. Even with such a light robe on, he felt like he was about to start sweating. He already missed being on the boat and being able to go swimming. As much as he was regretting this, he wasn't about to back out of it. Tala had promised to go through with this and he planned on going through with it. His family needed this. They needed the alliance to be able to stand a chance against the Earth Empire.

To anyone looking at the Water family, it would be hard to figure out who the prince was. His father was easy to figure out. The man was tall and strong looking. He was also wearing pants. But the other two walking looked almost identical. One was Tala and the other was the Queen. Everyone said that the two of them could of been twin 'sisters'. That always made Tala angry to hear, but he did love his mother. The woman was beautiful, smart, and strong. Tala wished that he'd gotten her strength instead of her beauty though. It would of made things a lot easier for him if he looked more like a man than a woman. Maybe if he did he wouldn't be here now. Being paraded around like a damn prize.

As they got closer he was given a warning to be kind from his father, "Yes, Father," he sighed as they got up to the Fire Family. It was easy for Tala to tell who was the prince now that they were close. Rin was easy to pick out as he was the youngest one standing there. After a moment of silence between the two families, Tala was given a nudge by his father, "Thank you for having us as your guests," he bowed slightly at the waist to the Fire king and queen, "Your home is...lovely," he tried to lie about what he thought, "I'm Prince Tala," he finally managed to introduce himself, fearing that he would be mocked in a moment. These people didn't look like the type to accept or want to deal with someone that looked like himself.

Before anyone could say anything else, the Water Queen jumped at Prince Rin. The woman had been fidgeting the whole time standing there. Tala and his father were amazed that she had made it this long before doing something like this, "You're so handsome," she hugged the fire prince tightly and kissed each of his cheeks. The Water Queen was known for out bursts of this nature. Most knew that she wasn't the most stable woman and probably the cause of Tala's appearance and effeminate nature, "I'm so happy to be having you join our family," Tala and his father weren't really sure what to say and hoped that the Fire family didn't take this as a bad thing. They couldn't bring themselves to apologize for her actions while she was standing right there. They knew that the woman meant no harm or disrespect.

"My wife is a bit excited," the king muttered and pulled his wife into his arms. She latched onto her husband with a big smile on his face, "My wife has never been outside of our home country, so this is a bit over whelming for her."

The dynamics of his family were rather strange. They all seemed to love a good laugh, especially if it was at another person. Almost every other sentence they spoke was rather sarcastic. Though they seemed to care about each other and look out for one another. They never verbally spoke of affections for each other besides his mother. She and Charles were the strange ones of the family. Both having almost identical personalitys. She wasnt afriad to speak her mind or say what was on her thoughts. She openly showed love to her husband and childeren. Like any caring mother, well from the fire nation, she showed both though love and was affectionate. Her favorite thing was embarrassing her son infront of people by pinching his face and baby talking to him.

His father was a polar opposite, rather quiet and stern. Every now and again he would show affection for his family. It seemed though his mother wore the pants in the family. What ever she says goes, no questions about it. She was rather excited about the wedding, her baby boy was becoming a man and she was honored to have the family over. His father could careless who he was married to. He found it farely strange. Rin's mother smiled slightly hearing the boy speak, she took pride in how her home looked. Though he was lying to her, she felt a small confidence boost.

Rin was in the process of glaring at his father for pushing him forward when he felt the women cling on to him. His eyes widened as he looked down at her. If she has been someone from the fire nation and not a visitor he would have pushed her away. But he just t

Rin trailed behind the family as they made their way down the stairs. Charles and his mother seemed most excited about the meeting. Rin looked over the other family, they seemed rather nice and what not. He easily spotted the boy who was to be his husband, He stared for a bit, seeing as the male looked very feminine. Oh great, you got a diva.... He thought internally as he looked over the family again. He heard the prince start to speak and his father quickly grabbed him by his collar to pull him forward. He yelped softly and stumbled a bit to catch his balance once again. He looked down at the women and gave an akward smile."Uh thanks?"

He let out a soft sigh when she was pulled away. He adjusted his shirt a bit as his mother spoke.
"Oh I know how she feels, Im rather excited as well."She gave a kind smile and genlty elbowed her husband. He grunted slightly from the nudge."Er me to....Why don tyou come up and join us for lunch?" He offered looking to his wife for aproval. She looked up at him a bit surprised but nodded.

Tala didn't like this. He hated being watched by all of these people. They all kept looking at him like he was expected to do tricks or something. He wanted to get out of the view of these people and this heat. Luckily, the other prince's family offered to go inside for lunch. Food was the last thing on his mind, but he was willing to go inside at least, "We'd like that very much," Tala's father commented and motioned for his wife to follow Rin's parents. As the four parents made their way back up to the palace, Tala stayed back for a moment and looked around as the crowds started to disperse. He felt like running back to the boat and refusing to leave it. Demanding to go back home and leave this place. This was not what he had in mind for his life, then again he didn't really have a plan for his life. Eventually he knew that he would of had to get married anyways. At least this way he wouldn't be expected to father a child. Tala doubted his abilities to help raise a child.

The blond spotted Rin lagging behind the adults as well and ran to catch up with him, "Ummm..Hi," that was about the best thing he could think of to say at the moment, "I..." he thought for a moment and decided to be blunt about it, "I'm sure I'm not really what you were expecting. I know when someone asks for a 'man' they expect someone...like yourself. Not someone that looks like their mother," he blushed lightly, "I'm sorry if he feel like you've been tricked or mislead in anyway. I might not be what you wanted, but maybe we can be...friends?" Tala doubted that, but he could try.

"I mean...it's not like we're going to see each other all that much. You're going off to war and I'll probably be taken back home," that wasn't what was told to him, but he knew that he'd end up trying to go home. His father had already told him he was to live here. Tala didn't intend on it though, "So we might as well try to get along. Cause I'm sure you'd rather be with someone else," he wouldn't blame Rin if he tried to get out of the wedding and find someone else. He also wouldn't blame him if he went through with the marriage and ended up taking a lover on the side.

Some might think what Tala was saying as offending or rude, but the water prince wasn't one to think things through before speaking.

Lunch? Hmm I guess Im hungry...Rin hadnt thought about eating all day he was to anxious but now he felt the hunger set in. His stomach growled lightly as he followed up the stairs. Though the boy wasnt what he expected, he seemed very feminine. Rin figured oh well it not like Im obligated to like him. He did feel some what tricked but oh well, at least he wasnt a woman. And he wouldnt have to be a father, lord knows how bad he is with kids. So akward and wierd.

He heard the boy's voice again."Hi....." Hi, thats the best you could come up with?! He already said that. He snorted slightly when he heard the boy mention almost the exact thing he had been thinking. He heard the other male's proposition to be friends and he shrugged a bit."Yeah I guess that would be alright." Rin hoped the boy would actually leave him alone.

He had better things to do during the day than talk to his 'husband'. It not like they would even have enough time to bond or form a relation ship. In a few days, after the wedding he was going to war for about a year and would probably forget about the other male while out. This marrage wasnt exactly what he wanted he figured he would still be loyal to the kind boy and not go messing around till he got back home from the war.

"Yeah I guess we could try and get along......" His stomach growled once more and he rubbed his hand over his abdomen. His brain quickly switched to food mode, he was hungry. Once he reached the dining room were everyone else was seated. He quickly to his spot towards the end of the table were he wouldnt be bothered.

After the very short conversation, Tala got the impression that they weren't going to be friends. Rin didn't even seem all that interested in talking to him, much less getting married. He kind of wondered why the Fire Prince wanted to marry him in the first place. From what he'd heard, the prince needed to be married to go off to war. But that didn't clear up why Rin wanted a man. If he liked men in that way, then shouldn't he be more interested in Tala? Maybe he'd been hoping for a man more like himself and was just disappointed at the moment. With only a few days till the ship left, Rin didn't have any other options than Tala. It would take a long time to find another suitable male to marry the Fire Prince off to. The Earth nation had princes, but that would mean Rin's people would have to bow to them.

Rin moved ahead of him towards the dining room and the blond sighed softly. Tala had kind of hoped that the other would be honestly interested in being friends. Tala had never really had any friends before and he wasn't really the most sociable person in the world. For the most part he was stuck studying. His father realized only a few years ago that his son wasn't much of a son. At that point he upped Tala's studies so that the boy could have a chance to at least be an intelligent king one day. No one wanted to be ruled by someone that could not only not fight, but didn't know how to deal with politics.

The blond prince looked around a bit before seating himself next to his soon to be husband. His parents were sat at the head of the table next to Rin's parents. Everyone around the table was already chatting and eating. Tala looked at the food, but wasn't sure what most of it was. A lot of the things on the table were unfamiliar to him and he wasn't that excited about trying it. The water people were used to more bland foods such as rice and fishes. These foods smelled of spices and kind of tickled his nose.

Not wanting to disturb any one, he really didn't have much of a choice since he had some questions about the foods. He leaned over and in a whisper tried to ask Rin what some of the foods were.

Rin settled in his seat as he dug into his meal. He was rather famished. He took a sip of some iced tea and glanced down at his parents making conversation with his new husband's family. He noticed the boy taking a seat next to him. It slightly bugged him but the boy was allowed to sit were ever he liked. He moved a bit closer to the table and stuck his fork in a few steamed vegatables. he stuck them in his mouth and chewed. He closed his eyes, finally feeling relaxed. Having something to eat finally and the stress of meeting his new family was over for a while.

He wondered what the wedding would be like and when it would be exactly. He didnt care if it was about an hour before the ship left or if it was right after lunch. He looked over at the male, looking him over a bit. I guess we could be friends, I mean its the most civilized thing. but we have nothing in common. He thought to himself as he enjoyed the food.

Just as he turned back to his plate he heard the boy whisper to him. Is he really asking me this? He looked over at the boy with a smirk."You havent had grilled chicken, steamed vegetables and iced gree tea." Granted the chicken was a bit spicy and the vegetables were peppered. The food seemed pretty basic to him. But people from other nations ate different things

He waited to see the boy take a bit. To see if he liked it or not. He wouldnt be affended or anything if the boy spit it out or complained about it. It seemed typical in his family.

Of course Tala had heard of chicken before, but he'd never ate it before. It wasn't like chickens were easy to raise on a beach or a boat. It smelled spicy though. Spices weren't common among his people. Probably the only common spice or additive was salt. Sea salt was easy for them to harvest and it helped to preserve meats and fishes on the boats, "Uh...no. I've never had chicken before..." which might of sounded odd to a person that probably ate it on a daily basis. The water people had some health issues due to lack of proper proteins due to the lack of meats in their diet. Tala was fairly healthy for a boy of his age in the water nation, "It smells great though," he lied. The spicy smell probably wasn't noticed by anyone except Tala and his mother. It burned his nose slightly.

From across the table he could feel eyes on him. They were his father's eyes. Tala had planned on not eating any of the food and his father apparently knew that. The glare was more painful than the spicy scent. He was being silently told to put the food in his mouth and to not complain about it. The fire people could be easily offended at times, then again so could the water people. Times of war put people on edge and they didn't need their old war flaring up because Tala refused to eat some spicy chicken. It was bad enough that Tala was already acting kind of funny since he wasn't good at lying.

It felt like people were watching him as he put the food into his mouth and chewed it up. He got the urge to spit it out in a napkin or something, but he didn't. He managed to get it down and keep his eyes from watering up too much from the taste of it. It wasn't a bad taste, just something he wasn't used to and it kind of burned his tongue. When he felt that he was being stared at by everyone at the table, he chugged down his glass of water with a light cough, "...good..." he coughed out lightly. If he had to live here he wasn't sure if he'd be able to eat much at all, if at all.

"Tala's going to be wearing a dress robe," he heard his mother say. Apparently they were talking about the wedding, "He looks so pretty in them," his cheeks flushed as he heard this. Tala was not pleased in the least bit that he was being put in the 'wife' role. The blond prince knew better than to fight with his mother on these things though. There was no way he could win. She wasn't stubborn, but she knew how to make him feel guilty without meaning to and he'd eventually cave in. Tala realized that he might as well be taking the role of the wife since he seemed to have no say in anything anymore.

Rin snorted when he heard the boy say it smelled good. Such a bad liar. Rin watched in amusment as the boy chewed the food. He looked like he was eating dirt or something spoiled. He snorted again and turned back to his plate. Easily and quickly finishing off his food. He wondered if the boy would ever say something about the food. If he would ever make a request to have something different to eat. Rin's parents would be more affended if he didnt ask for something else to eat. They did it so often them selves they didnt see it as picky. It wasnt as if they made the dishes them selves. Lord knows his mother cant even cook water.

He lifted his glass to take a sip. As he drank the cool liquid he heard that his new husband would be wearing a dress robe. His face scrunched up as he set the glass down. His mouth still full of water. He then heard the boy's mother say he would look so pretty. Rin sprayed the table with the contents in his mouth.. Good thing no one was seated a cross from him. His eyes widened and his face flushed red. All eyes were on him now and he felt nervous.

"S-sorry.....I choked..." He coughed and patted his chest with one hand as he used his other hand to try and wipe up some of the wet on the table with his napkin. A dress robe? Pretty? He though to himself as he continued to wipe up a bit of the water. The servents moved quickly to towel up the water on the table. Rin's father's face was beat red as he stared at his son. Rin looked to his father and shrunk into his chair a bit. Sorry. He mouthed to his father as he looked down. His father huffed as he turned to look back at Tala's parents."Sorry for that...." He hoped it didnt effend the water people. The last thing he wanted to do was risk the marrage and not be able to go off to war.
