Shadow Project

With the destruction of the first Death Star moral is high within the Rebel Alliance, leading to a series of daring raids on important Imperial targets. Gaining the Rebellion much need supplies and support. However when the Empire rallies the Rebels once again go into hiding, conduction hit and run attacks on poorly defended imperial systems and supply lanes. In the outer rim, a Rebel Base located on the world of Saleucami has been keeping track of imperial assets in the area. Their spy network has discovered that the Victory Class Star Destroyer, The Icon, has been making regular trips from the Boz Pity system, and has tracked their trail all the way to Taris. However despite their best efforts, the spies have failed to uncover the locations of either Imperial base. As time passes word begins to circle of new weapons research occurring within the Empire. Forced to action the Rebel commanders forge a daring plan to learn the locations of the Imperial bases, and strike a blow for the Rebellion.

Screamer sits down in the briefing room alongside the rest of Raven Squadron. Its been several months since the destruction of the Death Star, and a few weeks since the new Imperial offensive. Its a somber mood, the Imperials are on the move once again, and word of the new weapons project has spread like wildfire within the rebel ranks, and many fear a second Death Star. As the door on the far side of the room opens the rest of the pilots stand at attention as Orion Menuk, Commander of this Rebel Cell, enters the room. He's an older man, Mandalorian, and dresses in his cultures armor, the intimidating suit adding to the commanders presents. Entering behind him are the B6 Commandos, led by Lyra Nova, who quickly take their seats as well. Orion takes a moment to look over the people assembled in-front of him, giving a slight nod to the leaders of both squads. "As you all have undoubtedly heard, the Empire on the move once again, which means that so are we. We have learned that the Star Destroyer, Icon, has been making regular trips from the Boz Pity System to Taris, if the reports are to be believed. I want to know where, exactly, this ship is going, and more importantly, so does the rest of the rebellion." he says in a gravely voice, gesturing at the holographic display table in the center of the room, which quickly hums to life. It displays an image of the Icon, rotating slowly in the air. "The Icon is a old Victory Class Star Destroyer, and has seen service for some time now, we are going to retire it. We have 2 objectives on board, the cargo and the naive computer. The plan is simple, Raven Squad will engage the ship and knock out its weapons and engines, we've secured a shipment of Ion Torpedoes to help with this, and our local Nabula B Frigate, Titan, will be providing support via Grav-Field and communications jamming. With the ship disabled, Lyra and her commandos will board it and secure both objectives" he says, looking around the room for a second time.

"I'm no going to lie, its not going to be easy" he says, gesturing at the table again, changing the image to a map of the Icon's route. "We'll need to hit them in transit, and far enough outside of Imperial space to keep any support from arriving in time to help them. We've selected the Moon of Dxun as our staging area, as it is close to the Icon's route, and the system has a sizable asteroid field. When the Titan drags the Icon out of Hyperspace we'll need to strike fast, Raven squad, I want you to hit their Engines first, If they get out of range of the Grav-Field then this will all be for nothing. Lyra, I want you to go after the Naive Computer first, and secure the cargo second... If things get to hot, pull out and leave the cargo" he finishes. He checks the expression on everyone faces. In total Raven Squad was a 5 man unit, while the B6 Commandos were 13 strong. It was a small force, but the Rebels had done great things with less. Nodding his head Orion spoke once more, "Any Questions?"

Flight officer Aiylon "Screamer" V'felth was not what one would call the most experienced flight pilot... by a long shot. So that fact that she currently held the second seat position to Raven Leader was extraordinarily telling. Raven Squad was at an all-time low in terms of numbers, only flying five of the intended twelve X-Wing fighters. Not to mention that Vulture Squad, their Y-Wing bomber group, had been practically wiped out during their last mission, with only four of them limping back, and still under repairs.

"You're right, sir. It won't be easy; a Nebulon-B frigate isn't going to be able to stand up to a Vicky for long, we've got five X-wings against two dozen TIEs, and one U-Wing full of commandos vs up to a half division of stormtroopers. How is this not suicide?"

Orion nods his head at Screamer's question, "Its not suicide because we're not going to be trading blows with them, we're going to be hitting them fast and hard and getting out of there once we've got what we came for... It takes time to launcher fighters, time enough to take out a few of the ships systems, and our commandos should be able to hack the navicomputer from any console on the ship. This is not a battle, its a raid" the old Mandalorian growled. The man had always temperamental, and a little hot headed, even now in his middle years. But that's what happens when a mandalorian gets older, they get meaner.

Aiylon nods in understanding. "Yes, sir," she says, though she is still not entirely convinced. Still, she was certain that she herself could survive; she'd pulled through worse. But as for the rest of the squad...

Meanwhile, on the other side of the room, the leader of Commando Group B6 watched the goings on with a cool, reserved eye. Sergeant Lyra Nova then raised her head. "Will we be leaving the Icon any going away present, sir? We could drop of a proton care package while we're in the neighborhood."

The old mandalorian grinned at the lead commando, "I'm sure we can arrange something" he says. He takes a moment to look around the room, "if there is nothing farther then you all are dismissed. load up and move out... my the force be with you" he says, saluting the room before exiting. The commandos are the first to start rising, looking to their gear and their commanders. There were three of them, including Lyra, the other two were Issa Jio, a young woman with black hair and ice blue eyes, she had a nice figure, but the intensity of her gaze was often unnerving, and Belith Alten. The man was older, with salt and pepper hair, and a decent muscle structure. In the rebel cell he was known as the Razor, a master of melee.

Raven squad remained seated as the commandos got ready, looking at each other. They were tense, even Jason Cor, Raven leader, a spindly young man, red haired and dark eyes, with a quick mind and even quicker reflexes. They all knew what was expected of them, yet they also knew that it needed to be done. The others, Lilly Barren, Karien Zenith, and Dalin Kane all shared their leaders look. Still, if they hit them hard and fast, they might just be able to pull it off. Slowly Jason rose, "you heard the old man, Raven squad move out" he says, picking up his helmet and making for the door.

Lyra gave a sharp and practiced salute back to the old Mando, her movements the very textbook definition of military precision. Nodding to her fireteam leaders, she started down the Titan's corridor to the armory, where she began to strap on the heavy Rebel Assault armor. It was a new model, designed by Alderaanian engineers, intended precisely for this sort of high-impact, high risk mission. Taking up her custom Blastec A-195 bullpup blaster rifle, she gave the retractable vibro-shiv in the backplate of her left glove a test fire, watching the blade slide out with a satisfying "snnkt".

Ailyon, meanwhile, gave a somewhat less formal salute, and turned to her flight leader. The other pilots were nervous, she could tell, but she knew that Commander Cor would set their minds at ease with some inspirational words. He was good with people like that. Not that Ailyon didn't have her own charms, but they were a different sort, not the kind that got people to follow her into battle.

The other commandos followed Lyra to the armory, selecting their rifles and armor for the mission. The regulars had basic uniforms that had a energy disrupting mesh woven throughout, while the specialists had their own special suits. Belith wore an old republic clone trooper breast plate, and a vibrosword on his back, and a heavy blaster pistol, unmodified. Issa on the other hand dressing in a similar uniform to the rest of the regulars, save that hers had a ceramic breast plate added to in and her modified light repeating blasters over her shoulder. As the team assembled their gear some of the crew of the Titan stopped by, dropping off a small package for them. Inside was a the inner workings of a proton torpedo, including that part that when boom.

Meanwhile in the hanger, Raven leader hopped up onto his black X wing, turning to face the rest of his Aces. "I know your all scared, so am I, I'm scared of this weapon that the Imperials are building... we've seen what their last one was capable of, but we've also seen what the Alliance can do to stop them... We broke the empires back once, and we can do it again!" He shouted the last few words. The other pilots stood a little straighter at his words, and cry's of agreement sounded from the small group. Turning, Jason began his pre-flight check list making sure that the X Wing was ready for this, and the others quickly followed suit.

While the commandos suited up, Ailyon likewise got into her own flight suit, the typical Alliance Shockrider combat suit. Ravenwing's suits were a deep, midnight purple, almost black in color, and matched her skintone beautifully, so she thought. She put on her helmet, specially made to fit a twi'lek head, and wrapped her lekku around her neck like a scarf, the ends covered in sock-like protections. At the last words of encouragement, she smiled and gave a hurrah with the rest of her squadron, but that was more for their sake then her own.

"I have a bad feeling about this, sixty-nine," she muttered to her astromech droid, R6-D9, who was the same dark purple with light purple highlights as she was, with her suit on.

As the pilots got settled into their routine, prepping their ships when the general alert sounded, "Prepare for Hyperspace jump" the captains voice sounds over the intercom. R6D9 rambled off a series of beeps and clicks that anyone with experience handling droids could understand. "You and me both Aiylon... my calculations give us a 30% chance of success with 90% casualties... and that's if I stack things in out favor" the little droid 'said', swinging its head to look at the girl.

Aiylon shook her head. "Never tell me the odds," she muttered, as she climbed into her ship. They would be launching out of the Titan's hangar bay as soon as the ship dropped out of hyperspace, to get the jump on the Imperials. Strapping in, she watched as the techs went over her ship one last time, then glanced back at the U-Wing where the B6 Commandos were preparing for their part of the mission. She didn't envy them, having to fight the Imps inside their own ship with nothing more than blasters and knives. She did envy the ass on the commando leader, though; one of these days she'd have to tap it...

She felt the familiar prickling on the back of her neck, and heard the high-pitched whine as the frigate entered hyperspace. Soon the swirling tunnel of the space between spaces could be seen through the docking bay doors. Aiyloth always found it rather peaceful to behold.

It didn't take long for the pilots and techs to finish checking over the ships, as they were always kept in flight ready condition. They announced that the vassals were ready for action, and soon the pilots and their droids were suited up and locked in to their cockpits. Everyone could feel the tension as the Titan sped through hyperspace. They would come out ahead of the Icon's path, where the rebel ship would engage its stolen grav-sphere, taken from an empire ship. that should pull the Imperials out of their bubble and stop them in system.

Finally after a solid hour or so, the whine of the hyperdrive could be heard, and the Titan dropped out of hyperspace. Right into a particularly dense asteroid field. The ship immediately adjusted its coarse, positioning itself so that it was obscured in the field. The go signal popped up for the pilots, telling them that they were good to launch. Raven Leader, engaged his engines and started for the hanger doors.

Aiylon activated her fighter's repulsors, and began to lift off, taxiing down the hangar bay to her launch position. As the Titan dropped out of hyperspace, Raven Squad took off, forming up quickly into a claw formation. As they locked s-foils into attack position, Aiylon waited for their target to fall out of hyperspace; they would have to time their attack perfectly. After being wrenched into realspace, the Icon would be under significant system strain, and its crew would be disoriented. That would be the best chance to strike, while they were vulnerable; after that the Icon would start shooting back, and even launching fighters.

Raven squad left the hanger and took up their allotted position. At the same time the Titan started up the Grav-Field, which everyone could feel as the new gravity well formed. The steady pull of the field forces the Pilots to compensate, but the strain isn't bad enough to effect them to much yet. Finally, after several long minutes, A voice comes over the comlink "We've got something on sensors, get ready" Orion says. A few moments later the Icon drops out of hyperspace, coming to a sudden stop in the center of the asteroid field.

Alright roll me Initiative (Cool).

Also roll 2 destiny dice, 1 for each character, so we know which way the force is swinging ^^

Screamer narrowed her gaze, fixing in on the looming form of the Icon in front of her. She suppressed the typical flight instincts that told her to turn her ship around and hyper out whenever a Star Destroyer appeared, and instead focused on stoking her aggression to hit this ship with everything she had.

Raven leaders voice comes over the comlink "All ravens attack now! Target the engines and follow up on those turbo laser batteries! Lets wreck this thing!" he shouts. His X wing shoots forward as he guns the engines, followed shortly by the other members of Ravens squad. The Victory Class Star Destroyer just sits their as they approach, and its clear that the crew is still trying to figure out what was going on. The Titan pushes forward as well, staying far enough back to have cover from a few asteroids while getting into position to provide fire support.

Destiny pool = 4 Light side

Rebels get first turn ^^

"This is Screamer, I'm going in," She announces, and targets the bridge of the Icon with her ion torpedoes. The viewscreen on her targeting computer lit up as she placed it straight in her crosshairs, and pressed her thumb down on the firing stud. Her fighter shuddered as two electric blue comets blazed out of the launchers on her bird's nose, and as she pulled up into a steep, high-G arc, they impacted straight into the command tower of the Star Destroyer, causing crackling blue energy to wrack the sensitive systems, impeding the Icon's response even further.

The bridge is damaged. No starship maneuvers or starship actions may be executed aboard the ship until the damage is repaired In addition. the ship continues on its course at its current speed, and cannot be stopped or its course changed until the damage is fixed.

The crackling blue torpedoes impact the bridge, sending out sparks as the energy dissipates into the ship. Following behind Screamer, Jason drops his payload right into the engines, which light up, along with the rest of the ship as the shields, briefly illuminated in the flash of light, go out. As Jason pulls up along side you, you can see his X wing is shaking a little bit, and you can hear heavy breathing over the comms, it sounds like Raven Leader cut his run a little close and frayed his nerves. The two of the remaining Ravens plant their torpedoes in the two rear facing turbo laser batteries, and the last one plants theirs right in the middle of the ship. Lost of sparks fly as the wing shoots past the Star destroyer and assemble for another run. The Titan peaks through the asteroids, and unloads both its broadsides in a forward arch at the Star destroyer, but over shoot the vessel and annihilate an asteroid in the distance. Commander Orion's voice come over the comms a few seconds later "What the hell are you shooting at idiot... Listen, Raven Wing, their shields are down and that excellent first shot just put their command structure out of commission for the moment, drop the next load on the super structure should take care of the ships defenses" he says. (Gain 1 white to your next Gunnery action ^^) As the commanders gets off comes the Icons turrets come alive, putting fire into the sky in a general blanket, though at lease 1 of the rear gun systems is no longer functioning as only half the weapons back their are firing. The rest of the ship is flashing with laser fire as whoever is controlling the weapons tries to keep Raven Wing off of them (Blanket Fire, Increase the difficulty of attacking all archs by +1, the forward and starboard archs are +2 difficulty, also, add +1 Black dice to your next gunnery roll as the spazy targeting system on the Icon make predicting its shots difficult ^^ and back to the top with Screamer)

Aiylon pulls a sudden, sharp turn, hissing as she feels the sudden G-Forces strain her body, causing her lekku to ache slightly. It's nothing she can't handle, though, and she lines up a second shot from the back of of the ship, putting her eye to the targeting computer. It zeros in on one of the shield generator orbs projecting from the top of the conning tower. She fires off one ion torpedo, and it impacts, the geosphere lighting up like a tesla coil, causing sparks to erupt from the base.
