The antique shop was eerie and quiet, nothing like he used to remember. His grandmother had been very active in the community of their small, suburban town, her shop located right in the middle of main street. Every time he went, there would always be a number of fascinating antiques whose purposes ranged from mundane to outrageous, though as the cat would soon learn, there was one time that went beyond them all.
With the recent passing of the boy's grandmother, his family had moved into her home now that it was vacated, and so starting two months ago, he had started to go to the local high school. As of yet, he hadn't really met anyone he could call a friend.
As it was, today his father had taken him along to the shop as they had to clear it so the venue could be sold. A thick layer of dust covered just about everything as it had been sometime since the store was even open. With a knock on the door, though, the cat boy's father went out to talk to the potential buyer, leaving him alone to wander about and continue cleaning up.
Yet as he rummaged through, the young man would happen upon a very old looking pocket watch of some sort, the brass faded over the years and the chain long since broken off. There didn't seem to be anything particularly special about it other than it being an old time clock, though he had to wonder if it even still worked.
In order to even see if it worked, he had to polish off the dust and open up the device, though as he did, he accidentally tapped one of the gears which served as button on the top of it. He could feel the watch suddenly shake violently in his grip, though before long, it sat still in his hands. Nothing else seemed to be out of the ordinary, at least until he looked up to see his father and the man outside, looking as if they were mid chat but they looked like they were frozen in time.
Not only them but he could see a few people across the street, all mid step or mid word yet they just stood there, completely still and unmoving.
