All in all, it had been a pretty fun night, Edward reflected.

The day had begun like most other schooldays in their small town. Awake at 6:30, breakfast at 7:10, classes at 8:05 on the dot. Today however had been different, somehow. The air smelled sweeter, and birdsong clearer. Everything seemed effortless. The reason why was simple.

Today was Kimmie's birthday.

As far back as Edward could remember, he had a special attraction to the young lady. Though she didn't have the fine ample curves or radiant hair of some of his classmates, he had always been attracted to her. There was something about her that just...drew him. Her serene innocence, her cute and goofy little smile, her sweet tooth. She had to have a nice body too, beneath the blouses and skirts she wore to school on a daily basis. Even Edward's hypersexuality, a condition he had been contending with for years, felt...calmer, when she was near. She was perfect. One reason why the two had never hooked up. Oh, there had been no shortage of attempts between the two. Even in middle school, the two would occasionally glance at one another across the class, shyly eyeing one another before quickly returning to their work when the other seemed to notice. Still, that was many years ago now. The two had few conversations since those days, and Edward had decided he should simply come to terms with the fact that he had simply missed his chance with Kimmie. It wasn't as if the aspiring athlete and honor roll student didn't have other girls, but part of him quietly wished he had one more chance with Kimmie.

Little did he suspect until a week ago his wish would be granted. Unexpectedly, he had received an invitation from Kimmie, asking him to join her for her birthday. It had been a no-brainer for him. A quiet party with a handful of people? What better place to tell Kimmie how he felt?

Unfortunately, Kimmie hadn't invited a handful of people. She invited half the school. As Edward arrived, it seemed as if every girl who had bullied Kimmie had shown up for the party. Still, he'd come too far to back off now. As he sauntered into view, she had noticed him. It could have been his imagination, but he thought he saw her eyes light up. The party had gone on for hours, as students loitered around the pool or played games. Kimmie had the house to herself for the day, so she probably wanted t take full advantage of the fact. It wasn't until about nine that most of the party-goers had shuffled off on their way home.

There were six of them left now, all seated in a circle on the living room carpet. Three boys, counting Edward. A handsome rich kid, with thick dark brown hair and glistening blue eyes behind a pair of thick rimmed glasses. He was dressed in a cabana shirt and cargo shorts, that both only just hid his lean swimmer's body. Beside him was Tobias. A friend of his from their youth, Tobias was a shorter teen, African in descent, with a belly that protruded ever so slightly, and a winning smile. His clothes were a bit more pedestrian than Edward's. A black shirt with the number '7' in yellow print on his breast, a designer hoody and a pair of blue jeans. The last of the group was Gordon. Edward didn't know much about him. He was quiet and intense, the type of attitude that seems to attract girls and put men on edge. Edward thought he was studying to be a biologist. He had a large head, with a well defined jawline, a bald head and a thin physique. Gordon was dressed in designer jeans and a barely buttoned dress shirt. The girls on the other had he knew a little of. Lydia, a bit of a troublemaker. Alexandria, a girl who always seemed to be following someone or other at school, and of course...

"Well this is boring."

Gordon's words cut into Edward's mind, distracting him from his thoughts. As much as he wanted to tell Gordon to shut up, he had to admit Gordon was right. The room had been pretty quiet for the past few minutes. Now and then one of the girls would chat with another, but otherwise it had been pretty tame. Hardly the best time to confess to Kimmie...he glanced over at Tobias. His friend's brown eyes gestured towards Kimmie, as if urging him to go talk to her. Edward shook his head. It wasn't like he had trouble talking to girls. Just...this particular one. Tobias flicked his eyes back at her, more sternly this time. Edward just looked away. That reaction was all it took to spark what was to come next.

"I got it." Tobias said with a smile. "How about Truth or Dare? You all know this one, right? We sit in a circle, like we are now, and ask one of the others here a Truth, or a Dare. You can back out, but have to pay a forfeit decided by the person who asked you. And the same person can't be chosen twice in a row."

Edward turned back to Tobias, his mouth open slightly. He was about to tell Tobias off for suggesting a kid's game, when Gordon shrugged. "Suits me. How about you, Alexandria?"
