There was no warning when the outbreak which brought the dead back to life hit. It started out like any other day with people going to work, or to school. They had no idea that this day would be for many their last day on Earth. As the living that is. The outbreak which created the living dead, had no clear starting point. It was everywhere. The recently deceased suddenly rose and began attacking the living. Feeding on their warm flesh and creating more zombies. Those who weren't ripped apart by the attacking creatures, were themselves turned into blood thirsty ghouls. A person could bleed out in just minutes and become one of the undead. There were some who survived with just a bite wound. But, in time they would die from the infection and become a zombie. There was no antibiotic that could stop this infection. Most people died within hours of being bitten. The stronger ones held on for days, but they to would die in the end and return to stalk the Earth. Doctors were powerless to help those in dire need. Hospitals all over the nation became swamped with the injured who soon turned into monsters. It didn't take long for society as we know it to breakdown. Within days everything was pure chaos. People began looking out for themselves when it was clear that the Government wasn't coming to save them. Hell, no one was even sure the Government was still around. Nothing had been heard from Washington D.C. since the emergency broadcast system was activated. Sure there were local rescue stations which had been set up, but those places were over taken by the advancing hordes of zombies. Those rescue stations became death traps for those seeking help. For those who were still alive, they had to fight to survive.

As the days turned into weeks. Those who survived noticed a change in the zombies. The same thing which brought them back to life, had also begun to mutant the creatures. Some zombies could track humans by the heat coming from their bodies. Other zombies become smarter, to a point. These ones didn't regain what their human minds once had. However, these zombies become cunning. They were capable of setting up traps to catch humans. Sometimes for food, though the zombies didn't really need to eat. They were just driven to eat human flesh. Other times the reason was for a darker purpose. Fate can be cruel at times. The survivors fond out just how cruel fate could be. As it turned out, the zombies didn't just crave eating human flesh. Some wanted to fuck the bodies of women. This fact made living alone even more dangerous. Some people did live on their own. Thinking they could hold out better alone. Others sought out the protection of groups. Hoping that numbers would keep them safer. But whether in a group or alone, the world was still a deadly place to live. Several months had passed since the outbreak started. The once lively streets of New York City, were now like an old west ghost town. Trash littered the streets, as did the unused cars, trucks and buses which once ran day and night. The zombies could be found everywhere. Sometimes alone, and other times in groups. There was no safe time to be on the streets. However, the streets was the only way to find supplies. The survivors were forced to scavenge their daily needs.

She wasn't really wearing much, as all she had on her was just her dress, her cap, and thigh-highs. As like many other people, she was one of many confused people just stumbling about after the apocalypse had pretty much wiped out life as many people used to remember it. She was rather lucky though, as she didn't start out with practically anything useful at all. All this time, she had pretty much been guided by nothing more than large amounts of luck and her own gut to get by, and a few close encounters have been avoided from becoming much much more disastrous than she could have ever imagined.

For now, she was just making her way back after a making a low-profile trip to the market, looking around for what she could even find before going back home, back to her room in her apartment, which was rather relatively unscathed, with few of the creatures as it had been barred off and mostly empty by the time the infection rolled around.
