Deep in Ardenia Forest, far from the city she had been born and raised in, Elise spent yet another day in isolation, combing through the old holy texts in the chapel and twirling a lock of her blonde hair with her finger. Some days, travellers stopped to rest and pray; as a Maiden of the Goddess, it was her duty to aid any graceful souls. Born to a devout family with many members in the church, it was inevitable that Elise would be entrusted with overseeing her own chapel. While she had expected one where she would have the comfort of company, Elise considered the word of the Arch-Priestess to be the guidance of the Goddess, and faithfully carried out her duty.
Despite her devotion, the long hours took their toll upon her, and she often wandered throughout the old chapel. As night fell, Elise lit a lantern and descended into the basement. A chill permeated the depths, one that her white dress-like robe did little to insulate her from. Several sarcophagi laid around the walls, the remains of devout clergy and holy warriors who had given their lives in service of the Goddess. One wall always piqued the young woman's curiosity. Her grey eyes lingered upon the stone bricks, where the worn and faded grey bricks turned to newer, whiter stones. Had there been another chamber here, one that had been sealed up? As she touched the wall, her fingers brushed away a layer of powder, revealing part of a metallic sigil on the wall. Unbeknownst to Elise, something was indeed sealed within this chapel...and by touching the sigil, it would be awakened to Elise's presence.
