Natalie had felt a little unusual ever since she'd gotten to school that morning. Everything seemed the same as it always did, but yet something just felt....off, different. From the instant she'd stepped through the front gates it had felt like she was being watched, intently so. But no matter where she had looked around she hadn't spotted anyone staring at her, hadn't seen anyone turning away at the last second. Eventually she dismissed it as her imagination, or maybe just the remnant of some bad dream she couldn't remember, and so had tried to push the feeling to the very back of her mind and head for class the same as every other day. Something a little out of the ordinary did happen there, a new student had arrived at the school, though Natalie paid little attention. She had no particular interest in getting to know the new kid anymore than she had in getting to know anybody else, and after that the day had proceeded more or less as normal.
When lunch time finally rolled around Natalie packed away her things and headed off out of class alone as usual, going to her locker to grab her lunch box, then turning to head outside and off around the back of the classroom building. There was a nice secluded spot she always went to for her lunch, nobody ever came back there at that time, nobody to bother her, she could eat and read in peace. Even here, alone, she still had the odd feeling of being watched, but she persisted in ignoring it, just sitting down against a tree and placing her lunchbox on her lap in order to start eating.
