To give you all an idea as to what is going on:

Present-day Japan. Argueably the best place in the world for state-of-the-art education and technology. World-renowned high schools occur in this country, and many people attempt to attend these wonderful schools every year.

Selena (18), a rather poor American girl who is one of the top students at her high-profile private high school (tuition paid by her aunt), is offered a full-ride scholarship to study at an exquisite Japanese high school named Kosho Academy (She has taken 4+ years of Japanese language classes). Selena accepts the scholarship and lives with the Aihara family in an apartment while in Japan.

The morning of Selena's first day of school at Kosho Academy is a beautiful one. Despite her small room, the window catches the morning sunlight, reflecting the light onto the ground in an irregular prism shape. The golden rays warm and lighten the room, causing Selena to rub her eyes. She hadn't slept much last night; nervousness and butterflies had filled her stomach at the thought of attending a new school...thousands of miles away from home! She stretched her arms, yawning while doing so. Blinking a few times, she sat up, thinking about what today would be like. New folks, new curriculum..new everything!

At that moment, Mrs. Aihara called for her to get ready for school. Selena looked over at the clock. 7:30. It was much later in the morning for her than when she had attended school back in the states, but she didn't mind the extra hour or so of sleep. Selena got up out of bed, took a shower, washed up and then put on her school uniform that she had laid out the night before. Uncertain about Japanese hairstyles, She brushed her hair, pinning it halfway back into one of the simple styles she used to use when she was in the states. She was too tired to put on makeup, so she went without this morning. She picked up her bag, filled with new Japanese school books, slinging it over her shoulder as she left the room.

On her way out of the Aihara's apartment, Selena gave the family a respectful bow, telling them good bye. They wished her luck on her first day of school, and Selena walked out of the apartment complex, strolling down to her school which was only a few blocks away.

Her gray eyes looked around as Selena walked into her school. The school was..very exquisite and expensive-looking. All of her classmates were Japanese! She was going to stick out like a sore thumb, having light brown hair and grey eyes and such... Selena gave a slight sigh, walking into her first class: Advanced Biology. Biology was her favorite subjects, and she was somewhat happy to start her school day off with this class. Taking a seat near the back of the class, Selena kept rather quiet, only replying with a soft yet friendly "Kanichiwa" and a smile if anyone told her hello. Pulling out her book for the appropriate class, she sat there was waited for the class to begin and the teacher to appear.

(Well.. i was originally going to post here, but bluemoon screwed up on me.. and then decided to not let me delete this post.. so,.. oh well)

Seth had lived in Japan for his whole life, and in saying that had not actually gone overseas at all yet to see what else was out in the world, after all.. who would want to with a hometown of Japan. Education wise nothing else rivaled it, and just like quite a few Japanese students they had to learn somewhat English as well which had not taken him long to catch on although generally he spoke in his natural language. Although one would generally say he would be used to waking up for school, his body would say otherwise. Generally always about ten or so minutes late and that depended if he had bothered to fancy up his hair like some of the days

His hand came slamming down on the alarms snooze button knowing the next time it went off, he would actually have to get up. This of course was his morning ritual followed by some sort of coffee or caffeine substance. Only in the afternoons did he had some tea of which was well known through out Japan. People that were new to it usually did not know what to think since comparing it to Western cultures tea.. well lets just say they are nothing alike. Slowly he rolled over onto his back now as his eyes shot open looking up at his roof. It seemed today his black hair was quite messy and so somewhat his view was blocked out.

A soft sigh left him as Seth decided to actually get up turning off the alarm clock altogether before slowly standing up only in his boxers. He found sleeping with to much clothes on made it all the more uncomfortable and so he never did it,.. every night his clothes would be removed his boxers remaining before he would enter his room and sleep. Seth stretched a little, and although his body was fit, it was not exactly muscular but toned. His dark black eyes looked around for a moment before slowly he made his way to the chair that had a pair of his uniform slung over it.

Grabbing the pants they were the first thing to go on, sliding them on before his left hand grabbed his shirt slowly before placing that onto himself a slight yawn leaving him. Today would be one of the first days that he might actually be on time.. or at least close enough to it. After that he made his way towards a mirror to see the state his hair was. Considering most of his vision was covered it was no surprise to see it rather mainly just down in his eyes, quickly he styled it a touch mainly getting the majority of it out of his eyes letting a few spikes fall down into place, he liked to see but that did not mean some could be allowed to do what they wanted.

Some could say he was partially popular among the school, although like everyone, even he had his enemies that could not stand the way he presented himself. Yet he was one whom did not really care much about what others thought. Possibly why his personality was quite likable, since it was actually a personality unlike some where they just acted like a member of TV where they only thought one way, and almost had no opinion what so ever that was personally there own. Seth looked over at the clock noticing that he was going to be about five minutes late if he left now, better then normal.. sure enough he began to walk to Kosho Academy, making his appearance at the front office for being late like normal. Then Seth made his way to the class he had,

Advanced Biology noticing the teacher was not there yet, of which he then took his seat before looking around seeing a few people looking at him like normal. Every time he was late, they seemed to have nothing better to do then gaze or glare depending on whom it was. As he looked around his black eyes noticed what seemed to be a new student, either a transfer student.. or at least definitely American. Compared to the rest she kind of stuck out, and later he would probably introduce himself to her but for now he just looked away noticing the teacher had entered to begin the class.

Selena watched the male student walk into class late for a split second, but her focus was diverted when the Advanced Biology teacher walked in. The teacher strode across the room, his hand picking up a marker, beginning to write Japanese characters onto the whiteboard at the head of the class. "Good morning class." He replied, his voice upbeat and yet sound. He stopped for a moment, facing the class. "Some of you may have noticed our new student." His hand motioned towards Selena in the back of the room. "This is Selena. She is a transfer student from America." he told the class, their dark Japanese eyes turning towards her. Selena gave a shy smile and a slight wave. "Um..hi everyone.." she replied, her voice uneasy. The teacher then spoke to Selena directly. "I hope you enjoy your time here at Kosho Academy." he then began class, telling his pupils to open their books to page 163.

Selena opened her book to the appropriate page, her eyes scanning over the topic, Adaptations of Flight Species. The page descibed the variety of flight in the animal kingdom, from the soaring of an eagle, the flapping of a bat, the fast beat of a moth's wings, and many more species' flight. The teacher began to explain the different types of flight, and how they occurred in living creatures. "Now, I want you to find a partner in this room. We will then go to the computer lab, where we have a flight simulation game, of sorts. You and your partner's job is to build the best virtual plane to complete the race in the allowed amount of time. Your scores will be marked on the speed, durability, and energy of your virtual plane at the end of the race, and also how well you work with your partner." He smiled at his class. "Oh, and remember, this is an Advanced Biology class. When building your plane, think...animal flight techniques."

Upon the teacher mentioning the new student Seth's eyes traveled to her direction looking at her before hearing her name was Selena, something that he would try to remember and since the memory of his was quite exceptional. It would probably be an easy task at least. Although she was new it did seem she was a touch shy, as to be expected since she probably felt like the odd one out. Slowly Seth then looked away returning his gaze towards the front of the class hearing that the teacher had started to speak again. His book already had been open at the right page, and now he started to read.. it at least seemed like an interesting topic. Yet he was partially wondering what it would lead into.

After hearing that they should all grab a partner quite a few girls looked in Seth's direction as if suggesting that they should pair up. Any other day he would have chosen one of them, but today he was going to pair up with the exchange student. Everyone started to pick their partners now, the room partially gaining a few decibels in noise. He simply just walked over to Selena before offering one of his charming smiles to her " Shall we partner up.. Selena?" his eyes looked at her waiting for the answer from the exchange student before he spoke once more ".. Oh and just so you know.. my name is Seth.." the charming smile still had not left his face as his mind partially began thinking of the possibilities for the virtual plane.

Selena closed her book, sighing a bit. No one is going to want to be my partner...I'm so much different than any of them! She thought with dissapointment. Seth then walked up to her. Her eyes met his as he spoke, but the look on her face was different than the other girls' faces who were looking at him. Selena's face showed caution and her inquizitive nature. "It's nice to meet you, Seth. That's not a Japanese name, is it? The name 'Seth' originates from Egypt, at least, that's what many believe. An anchient Egyptian god shared your same name. Of course, he was an evil god who murdered his brother, at least in the myths..." She spoke, showing her intelligence through her words before stopping herself. Her eyes shifted to the girls looking Seth's way, who were wanting to pair up with them. "Um, don't you already have people who would love to pair up with you? I'd hate to burst their bubble." She said, motioning slightly to the girls watching him.

It was impressive to hear her knowledge simply just on his name, although nothing of which had been said did he not know. After all his name had interested him for the fact of being a little different and so he had looked up it's meaning quite a while ago since Ancient history had been something that this particular Japanese student was reasonably interested in. "You are correct about my name, although most refer to that particular god as Set,.. more often then they do as Seth" the smile still showed across his face before it disappeared hearing her speak about the other students that would more then happily pair up with Seth if given a chance. "I thought the teacher said for us to pick our pairs.. they might want to pick me, but I wanted to pick you Selena.. unless your declining,"

Selena showed a slight smile. He's right..it is commonly referred to as 'Set' in ancient Egypt... she thought, rather suprised at how he was able to add on to her own knowledge. She then looked down at her book, and then up towards his face. "You're right about what the teacher said." She then thought for a moment, realizing most of the class was already paired up. "No, no, it's fine. I'd love to be your partner." she replied, half-heatedly.

Once everyone was paired up, the teacher led them down the hallway and into the computer lab. "Now, find a computer and begin creating your own virtual plane. The program has already been opened up for you, and I'm sure you all may note that the program is rather self-explanitory." Selena looked around, noting that the computers all had the program opened up.

Although he had noticed her response was partially fake, quite half-hearted even it did not bother him since at least now the two where partners for this particular task. Seth still held upon his face one of his charming smiles like always, and started to walk down to the computer lab turning to Selena while walking down "So why did you decide to transfer to a Japanese school?" He asked purely out of curiosity.

His head turned to face the direction they were heading again to make sure that he did not walk into anything seeing the program was already open. Seth had used this particular program in art last year, that was before he had decided to stop art and take more interesting subjects in his opinion anyhow. "Well then lets get started shall we?" Seth then chose a computer making sure their was a spot next to him before beckoning her over.

Selena looked up at him with genuine eyes, a sigh escaping her lips. "My family...we're very poor. We farm barley and wheat for a living, and the past few years have been rough on us- horrible planting and harvesting weather. When I was offered the oppurtunity to come over here and study, I thought that I may be able to help earn my family some more money with such a prestigious school as this. It gave me a chance to get away from the fields and country side...stuff I've known my whole life." she replied in an almost guilty tone, as if she was ashamed of her roots. She brought one hand up to brush a few strands of hair that had fallen into her face. She felt the eyes of many of their classmates watching them, as if they were some celebrity couple She noticed a few girls wispering to one another. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea.. she thought.

She sat down in a chair next to him, her eyes watching the screen of the computer. "This looks quite interesting." she said, her voice a different tone than before.

Hearing Selena start to tell him a bit of her family background Seth decided not to speak about his own. His father was owner of one of the major companies of Toyko and so he had never experienced what it would feel like without money and so could not exactly relate to what she had said to him. After she finished he was silent for a little before saying quietly "How caring.. to want to help your family like that" It seemed quite a few people were looking at the two interestingly,.. it would not take long for rumors to spread that was certain, in fact as he looked around he already noticed a few girls speaking to each other.. probably the rumor in creation. Instead of continuing their previous conversation Seth decided to just concentrate on the task at hand.

"Have you ever used a program like this?" his eyes looked upon Selena as the words left his mouth before he started to make a basic design to work off ".. hmm so how should we make this,.. I was thinking of the bald eagle as the influence of how it flies,.. what about you?"

Selena looked over at him briefly before returning her gaze on the program. "Well, we had a program similar to this back at my old school, but it was well outdated. I think it dated back to the late 90's." she replied with a slight laugh. Her mind began to this of what he was saying, picturing the eagle's flight in her mind. "The eagle is an excellent flier, but the only bad thing about it's design in relation to the plane's need for speed is that it's slow, and it relies too much on it's total surface area of its feathers to soar on the thermals. It's more of a bouyant flier...doesn't use it's own energy to fly, but relies on the air to lift it up." She replied, having seen many an eagle and hawk soar over her farm back home. "I was thinking more along the lines of a Prairie falcon or a Peregrine falcon. Streamlined body, long narrow wings, not a lot of air drag, so the plane would be able to cut through the air effortlessly." She stated, somewhat happy about how she had explained the plane design that she had in mind. Her eyes shifted past the computer screen, seeing a few of their classmates watching them still. This guy must be popular or something..or I must have something on my face or whatever.. she thought to herself, trying to ignore the staring black eyes.

A small laugh escaped Seth upon hearing about such a thing, he was used to everything always being recent and so it had been partially funny before he decided it was best not to dwell on the fact of such a thing though since it was possible Selena could feel maybe a little offended upon doing such a thing. Hearing what she had to say he thought for a moment before deciding to speak once more " The only problem with using a Prarie or Peregrine Falcon is that they might not get so affected by wind drag but they definitely would take effect from the actual wind themselves and so realistically we will need to consider possibly a bird that is designed to deal with a more wide spread of weather conditions, that way we will get higher marks on the survivability of the plane" if she insisted on her design though Seth was just going to agree to it,

seeing as she seemed to know a great deal about what this subject would seem to cover. Seth was quite used to getting looked at by the other students because it seemed some of the girls would do anything just to get a chance to speak to him, and yet for once it felt a little odd being looked at more for the reason that he was speaking and was grouped up with the new girl to the school of which some would consider an outsider. "Well, if you are decided with an idea,.. I will start with the technical design unless you want me to try and teach you this program to the best that I can.."

Selena rested her head against her hand, her elbow ontop of the table. A slight sigh escaped her lips. Normally when she was paired up with a guy at her old school, they would just go along with whatever Selena had decided for the project. But this time, Seth was different. She thought for a moment, nodding at what he said. "Hmm...then what about a goshawk design? They're explosive speed and endurance and lack of drag in flight, but broad surface area of the wings to help when the conditions require the use of the wind." she replied, short and to the point.

Selena was going to continue, but the teacher began to talk to the class. "Class, there are only 5 minutes left in the class. Please log off of your computers. We will continue the flight design tomorrow." With that, Seth logged off of the computer. Selena slung her bag over her shoulder, putting the classes' notebook, folder and book in the bag's large pocket. She took her schedule out of her uniform jacket's pocket, her eyes scanning it over. Her next class was Calculus. She looked up at Seth, realizing that a number of their classmates' eyes were still looking their way. "Um, do you know where the Calc room would be, Seth?" she asked, a genuine tone to her voice.

Seth was not the type of person to allow one person to do everything, in fact he was used to being quite the opposite. Most people that paired up with him usually only did so to have a reason to be close to him and so the male was quite used to doing all the work yet her ideas were ones that would easily make things,.. smoother instead of rushed. With the both of them working on the task together at least the work load would be more even, of which in fact it seemed all he would be doing is the design work where as she came up with the ideas. That was of course after accepting them himself.

Seth had not even noticed what the time was as he went to begin with what they had decided on. Quickly he decided to write a few notes into the computer about the Goshawk that of which was going to be their design. Then he simply logged of a small soft sigh escaping him. Hearing Selena speak he turned towards her before lightly smiling " Your just in luck.. I have that class next, so you can walk with me to it if you want" he then stood up picking up his bag from his side noticing a few disappointed looks from some of the other females whom were used to being by his side, obviously it would not take long for rumors to develop that something was going on between the exchange student and himself but when nothing was occurring rumors meant no harm to him anyhow. "come.. lets get going then"

Selena looked at him with a slight suprised look on her face. She brought one hand up to brush her hair out of the way of her face. "Oh, okay..." she said, not expecting him to have the same class as her. "Thanks." she replied, a sweet smile on her face as the bell began to ring. She began to walk towards the door, but then a high-pitched girl's voice caught her attention from a few feet behind her. "OOOH! You must be that new girl everyone is talking about!" the girl stated in a prissy voice, causing Selena to turn around towards her. Selena could tell that the Japanese girl was very petite, and probably popular, seeing as three girls were standing next to her, one even holding her bookbag.

"That's me," Selena replied in a modest tone, a soft smile on her face. The petite girl didn't even seem to notice Selena, but was rather concentrated on Seth who was next to her. The girl strutted up to Seth, laying her arm on his shoulder, letting her body lean up on his. "Ooh, Seth! You know that party we are having in the apartment complex on Friday? You're totally gonna have to go with me, babe!" she said, giving Selena a split-second glare, as if she was testing them.

Selena sighed a bit, looking up at Seth for a moment. "I can see you're busy, I'll find my own way to class. Thanks anyway," she replied, leaving him with the four girls. She walked out the door, beginning to scan the signs hung up next to the doors, but not finding one that read "Calculus". That Seth...I didn't know he was so popular... she thought for a moment before refocusing her mind on finding the Calc room.

Seth was quite used to being popular these days, since it was a genuine part of his personality but he had definitely not expected the person whom had disturbed both him and Selena to appear and start acting the way she did. Part of him did have to admit although she did have a nice figure she seemed a little to outgoing, and although popular probably had a very void personality and well intelligent conversation he doubted to have, but then again popular people never really spoke intelligently, yet somehow Seth managed to do such a thing,... probably only because of his looks.

A soft sigh left him as he did not respond to what Selena had said but briefly looked at her before he turned to face the girl that still seemed to be keeping nice and close to him, as if trying to make her his or something along those lines, which would not be to surprising at least. " I see your up to your old tricks... I might consider going to the party although I already know it is just an excuse to drink and get wasted... just like every other party you have dragged me along to before.."

This definitely was not the first time she had done this to him, yet he was starting to get sick of it. Instead of saying anything else he decided to simply start walking leaving her behind leaving in the direction Selena had gone which was the opposite way to Calc

Selena sighed as she walked down the hallway, checking each room's sign as she walked past it. "Trigonomitry...Algebra...Chemistry...ugh! No Calculus!" she remarked, many of the students glancing over at her for a number of reasons, weather it was her being the freaky American exchange student, or her working with this Seth guy, or silly rumors...she wasn't sure, but the looks continued to happen. She was never going to find her class...the school was humongous, and Selena couldn't find a teacher to help her out with where the Calculus room was at.

As she continued to check the various signs, she thought for a few moments. That Seth...if he was so popular, why didn't he just work with one of those other girls?! That one prissy girl must be his girlfriend....

Seth continued to try and look for Selena, it did not help that this was quite a large school and hopefully she was simply trying to find her way without disappearing down corridors or anything to much out of the way since otherwise he would not find her. He remembered the first day he spent at this school, oh how many times he was late to class because of being lost. That was until he became popular, then they pretty much dragged him to his classes and the girls.. well after a while they really took an interest in him yet still somehow he was single, obviously his own choice since plenty of girls would not mind him as a boyfriend.. but he seemed not ready for such a commitment, and most people were quite void in personality .. something that was needed to not end up bored.

His black eyes glanced around the wind swaying his hair slightly before he managed to spot her, mainly from some of the weird looks that were being given towards that direction as some of the schools members seemed to discuss the transfer student. He walked up behind her before placing a hand on her shoulder to stop her from walking off before turning her around "It might not be any of my business.. but you might want to know, that our class is completely the other way.. oh and sorry about just a moment ago, It was a little unexpected.."

Selena continued to search franticallyfor the Calculus room, but she had no luck finding it. She was contemplating asking one of her classmates from advanced Biology that she spotted, but the look that he gave her made her think otherwise. The last thing Selena expected to see was Seth. She thought he was still back in the computer lab with those popular girls. When he touched her shoulder and turned her around, she gasped and her eyes went wide with suprise. "Oh, Seth, it's you..." she replied, her voice odd. She sighed, almost out of relief. As he spoke to her, she shook her head, almost out of disbelief. "You know...I don't get people like you. You're popular, and yet you concern youself with people like me. It just doesn't make sense!" she replied with a modest laugh. "Oh, and no worries about that with your girlfriend and stuff." she stated, believing that the girl was his girlfriend. "I shouldn't have been in your way." she said as he led her to Calculus class.

He had not expected such words from Selena before a small blush crossed him which quickly he took hold of his reaction speaking in response "Your wrong about her,. This might surprise you,.." He went to tell her before someone else seemed to interrupt looking at the two as words seemed to leave the person whom interrupted "I heard you pushed Brittany to the side to bring the exchange student here.. You know.. I never quite understand you Seth... but if I had to assume it would seem something is occurring between you two.." Seth glared at Steven, he was always one of the first to create rumors.. and well being so popular had benefits but also downfalls, one of these downfalls was news traveled fast and then rumors quickly followed. "It's not how you think.. after all someone has to show around a person new to the school.. now go create rumors on someone else.." He simply dismissed Steven pushing past him almost dragging Selena with him "Sorry about that.. that was Steven,.. pretty much all he does is listen out for information regarding people.. and then creates rumors that spread around the school to try and make either the person look bad, cause embarrassment.. or well other then that I am not sure why he does it."
