Joss grunted, dragging a heavy bad of feed over from the back of the pickup truck to the barn, gripping the sides tightly and lobbing it on top of a growing pile of identical bags. With his parents out onâ?¦whatever they were on, they had put him and his little sisâ?? in charge of their farm until they got back. He didnâ??t mind that much; he got to drive the truck around, so he could take his pals next door into town to swipe some beer from the convenience store. But it also meant that they were working almost from dawn to dusk, taking time out to eat and little more. There was always work to do here.
â??Câ??mon, Sisâ??! Am I gonna have to do all this by myself?!â? He shouted out the barn door, his fingers aching all the way down to his wrist. He reached into the truck bed and grabbed another bag, pulling it over to the edge of the truck and dropping it to the ground below. The horses were out in the pasture, getting their exercise, and where was his sister?
Joss left the bag in the middle of the barn, walking outside into the driveway. â??Hey Sisâ??! Where are yaâ???â?
