So I had this idea floating around with regards to a possible crossover RP between my OC (and OC universe but the latter isn't as pronounced as the former in the case of the RP itself) and that of the character and the accompanying universe of the Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle (be it the Young Justice animated series version which I'm rather partial to, the original comic run, etc). I'm really fascinated in the whole idea of the Reach, it's backstory and their involvement with the scarab so I really wanted to explore this in the RP idea I had as well!
I’ll admit I’m fresh off the boat to the forum myself, but seeing that the forum had a wide array of players from an even wider variety of universes and characters, I decided why not! Besides, I couldn't find any other Blue Beetle players elsewhere as well XD. So I hope this is the right place to post this RP interest check thing!
What I essentially had in mind was an RP involving the Reach, and the Blue Beetle, and my character coming across Jaime in a possible wide array of scenarios which I'm open to!
But before that, a brief introduction of my OC and their backstory (which briefly touches on the OC universe):
Jacob Caldwell is a part of this enigmatic and secretive organization called the ‘Rangers’ as a long distance scouting unit. The rangers are a hidden organization comprised of humans that track, monitor, survey, and record data of all the civilizations they encounter but with a relative bias for human civilizations. They dedicate themselves to the cataloging of civilizations and technology in the case of a catastrophic collapse wherein if the situation is truly dire, they'd step in to help the fledgling human civilization. The scouting regiment is one of the more far flung divisions of this organization, being that they explore previously uncharted space or different galaxies at the far flung reaches of their local cluster that traditional long range monitoring equipment can’t handle.
Anyways! I had a few possible ideas in mind for how the Blue Beetle could come across my character or perhaps the other way around! As I stated above I’m really interested in the world building behind the scarab’s origins, namely the reach and their plans. I have a few ideas actually on how we could integrate this if you’re alright with it of course!
1. Perhaps during my scout’s long range scouting mission, they could’ve been captured by the Reach or Reach affiliates, the Blue beetle happens to be infiltrating or escaping from or attacking said ship for an unspecified reason we can discuss the specifics of later. And the story could go from there? This could go anywhere from securing a means of transportation back for my character, to perhaps even a plot involving the pair infiltrating and thwarting further Reach plans of domination/inhumane research/ongoing conquests/etc? Or perhaps securing a piece of technology or item that was lost in the confusion that belongs to the Rangers that could give the Reach a tremendous technological and military advantage?
2. Perhaps the Blue Beetle could’ve been captured by a Reach ship, the same ship attempts to attack Jacob's scouting vessel, but he’s able to neutralize it and comes across Blue Beetle on that ship? Boarding it, and saving him albeit with resistance? From there the story could focus on escaping the vessel, or perhaps finding an alternate means of leaving the hostile ship? And from there, the options could be similar to the aforementioned, infiltration of the Reach, as stated previously above?
Another idea that doesn’t involve the Reach in particular if you aren’t partial to the aforementioned ideas involves my character arriving somewhere within the Milky Way above either Earth or another planet, and due to an inexplicable anomaly (I was reasoning that perhaps some unaccounted for gravitational disturbance disallowed a proper formation of an entry wormhole on the other end and thus caused a premature reentry wormhole to be generated within the planet’s gravity well.)
My character's ship crashes, Blue Beetle stumbles across it/investigates the crash, and from then I was imagining perhaps there could be the start to some sort of adventure? A possibility is perhaps a few parts having come off the ship during reentry, and now my character has to enlist the help of the Beetle (since he’s a native of the parts) to help him retrieve it to repair her ship? (Perhaps the parts landed on hostile territory or locations?) Or perhaps some local powers wish to seize the ship, parts, or my character themselves either out of fear, curiosity, or hope that it might give them a military advantage?
That’s the general idea I had for the plot! I have a few more ideas in mind but I wouldn’t want to bog down the first introductory thread with it so hopefully this is alright! I’m super flexible so we can discuss more ideas about this if you’d like!
