In a clearing in part of the thick dark ghostly forest not far from where Alice would eventually appear at the other end of the rabbit hole to which she had just been dragged kicking and screaming into a blue cloud of smoke flowed gently over the tree canopy. At the far end of the clearing propped up with its back resting against the stalk of a giant white mushroom sat a caterpillar puffing on a large glass hookah filled with a blue cloudy liquid. The smoke swirled around the caterpillars thick fatty cylindrical pale blue body. Dark blue tigers stripes and bright yellow spots covered its skin. Running all along it's twelve foot long abdomen were pairs of short stubby stumps. At the ends of the first eight set of stumps it had black finger like digits which the creature used to grasp things with like the pipe it was currently smoking on. The remaining stumps each had a large round foot at their ends which had to bare it's enormous weight as it and slowly around the forest clearing.
The caterpillar looked up at the dark violet sky at it sucked hard on the end of the metal hookah pipe closing its eyes as it felt the smoke filling its huge inners chambers before blowing out the thick floral scent blue smoke from its large nose like a giant chimney. In these long boring days where nothing of any interest ever happen it was one of the few pleasure it had left in life. Every now and again one of the other insane individuals that inhabited the spooky woods would come by. Once he had even received a visit from her highness the queen of Hearts herself and the royal entourage but that was a long time ago. The creature had lived in the forest for over two centuries and it's age showed on it's almost human like round weathered old face. The caterpillar adjusted the large glass monocle it wore over it's left green eye toying with the long gold chain which hung from it.
The caterpillar was surprised when it felt it's long antennas which sat upon the top off its head begin to tingle as it sensed movement in the trees. The creature was even more surprised at the sight of young blonde human female dressed in a bright blue dress shortly and nervously walking towards him. Maybe today was going to be more interesting than he had originally released the old caterpillar thought to himself.
