Nate was just starting college, moving his things into his new dorm room. It had been a hard road to get here, he was on a scholarship and had to go through so many exams and interviews, but somehow he'd managed to get through it all and was finally attending the college of his dreams. As he brought in the last bag he wiped his brow and grinned, it was only just now starting to hit him how real all of this was. Even when he'd arrived here the reality of the situation hadn't really set in, he'd kept thinking he was going to wake up any second now and still be back in High School...man that had been a terrible time. High School had been nothing but jocks and jerks, and as a complete nerd Nate had been target number one for every last one of them. It wasn't like there were even any other nerds for him to hang out with either! Ok, so Junior High and Elementary school had been pretty much the same, but at least at those places his best friend had been around, someone he could laugh and joke with....they'd spent pretty much every moment possible together since...well, since before Nate could remember. Sadly his friend had moved away right before they would've started High School, and hadn't even told Nate where. No address, no phone number, no e-mail, nothing. At the time he'd been utterly devastated, maybe that was why he'd been such an easy target in High School right from the start.

Nate shook his head, it didn't do well to dwell on painful thoughts like that. His friend was gone and it was likely they'd never meet again. Right now there were other things to focus on. This was college, a completely fresh new start. He knew for a fact that not a single person from his High School was here, not a single one of them could've gotten in here if they wanted, none of them were either smart or rich enough. This was a new place with new people and he couldn't make the same mistake by getting hung up on the past. No, this time he was going to embrace it! "Alright!" Nate exclaimed to himself and grinned. "Unpacking can wait" Instead he grabbed his jacket and turned to walk straight back out, intending to take a stroll around the campus. It was sure to be bustling with all kinds of people, and just maybe there would be someone he could strike up a conversation with. No harm in trying right?

Stretching his arms as he walked outside Nate adjusted his glasses, took a deep breath then set out through the crowd of people, not going in any particular direction, but just wherever the mood happened to take him. If nothing else it would be good to learn his way around, so even if he didn't meet anybody the time certainly wouldn't be wasted.
