Camwyn moved cautiously through the dense woodland. The shortcut had seemed like a good idea in theory. The Map she had seen at the border garrison outpost had clearly shown that, if she cut through the Dimwoods, she would reach the Imperial Road in three days rather than the ten or more it would take to go around.

The Guardsmen had warned her off of course. To humans, woodland was always inhabited by ghosts, goblins and monsters. But Camwyn was an elf, daughter of Elgarwyn, first ranger of the Wilds, and she herself a trained ranger of the Glimmerwood. No forest could cause her to be ill at ease.

Or so she had thought. But this woodland was different. The sounds, the scents. There was more here of decay and death that any wood she had ever known. The trees and plants grew in strange ways and many of the species she did not recognise at all.

She adjusted her cloak around her shoulders and wished, for the first time on this journey, that she had brought armour and not just her travelling leathers. The high leather boots, short leather skirt and jerkin served to camouflage her, but they offered les protection.

Now she moved carefully. Her bow strung and her hand ready to knock an arrow should she need to as she advanced, her elven vision seeking pathways.

The woods seemed to grow darker as the shadow of some winged creature flew overhead, silencing all the sounds the elf heard. This made the Dimwoods seem creepier and more eerie. Every move she made echoed back to her ominously. Many knew that the path she traveled was dangerous. More knew that women of any race should never travel it alone less they sought to disappear.

Something called a warning from the shadows as she neared a clearing, moments before a dragon landed on the opposite side while shielding itself with it's wings. It seemed unafraid of her or her bow. Actually, it seemed to see right through her as it regarded her. That also made the area seem colder as a rabbit darted across the clearing. Nothing else moved as the wind blew through the clearing.

'You should have listened to those Guardsmen. What happens next is all on you.'

No sooner had the voice that sprung up in her mind faded did two dozen goblins spring up from their hiding places. They rushed her all at once, blocking the dragon from sight as it took to the skies. Their intermixed cries drowning out the sudden cawing of crows. Strangely, these were organized, half having wooden shields that would protect the wielded while the rest had a hodgepodge of weapons. They were leaving her only one escape route which meant running across the clearing.

Camwyn gasped as the Goblins leapt out all around her. She was surrounded. Although the goblins were small, none of them much over half her height, she knew that they could be strong and tough oponants. She quickly knocked, drew and loosed a goose feather arrow shaft. her aim was true and one of the Goblins flew backwards, but she had no time to draw another arrow. She flung the bow aside and drew her knife.

She leapt to the side, bashing into one of the goblins holding a shield and trying to use her weight and strength to break through the circle.

"You will not take me greenskin scum!" she yelled.

But she goblin, while knocked back, held firm. She looked around wildly as the others closed in.

"No!" She gried out. "Too many"

One, wielding what appeared to be a bladed chain whip, swung so that it wrapped around one of her boots and yanked on it. A few others jumped on her from behind as ropes were produced from seemingly nowhere while she fell and quickly bound her so she couldn't move. They were whooping and hollering as they chattered amongst themselves, ripping her chothes slightly as they dragged her toward their camp. One or two made some obscene gestures only to be clubbed by their fellows before all but the five carrying her were reduced to ash by purple and black flames from above. They were frightened by the sudden attack and increased their speed.

They reached their destination after a ten mile sprint. They were in a cavern that was set up for sacrifices and rituals but looked abandoned. Setting her up eagle spread on the slab, they all started bickering eagerly as a nude human that was more than well endowed walked by to gather up and put on some leggings and a tunic. The strange thing about him was that he had a weird purplish-black gem in his chest that was covered by the tunic. He soon walked over to the elf and placed his hands on the stone slab she lay on.

"My understanding of Goblin is a pretty rough, but from what I can understant, the five remaining green boogers are looking to use you until they are satisfied with themselves." The human said, putting his hand on her chest over her heart as heat pulsed into her body, "That should deaden your ability to feel sensations although It won't do much if they all make a move. We'll talk later when the Boogers calm down. Just stay strong until then."
