A Different Handmaid's Tale (wikipedia)
I'm looking to write an original story in the setting created by Margaret Atwood, recently turned into a television series on Hulu. You need to have read the book or seen the series to apply.
Setting: Beginning with a staged attack that kills the President and most of Congress, a fundamentalist Christian Reconstructionist movement calling itself the "Sons of Jacob" launches a revolution and suspends the United States Constitution under the pretext of restoring order. They are quickly able to take away women's rights, largely attributed to financial records being stored electronically and labelled by sex. The new regime, the Republic of Gilead, moves quickly to consolidate its power and reorganize society along a new militarized, hierarchical model of Old Testament-inspired social and religious fanaticism among its newly created social classes. In this society, human rights are severely limited and women's rights are even more curtailed; for example, women are forbidden to read.
Handmaids: Handmaids
Fertile women whose social function is to bear children for the Wives. They dress in a red habit that completely conceals their shape, plus red shoes and red gloves. They wear white bonnets on their heads to prevent their seeing or being seen except when standing directly in front of a person. Handmaids are produced by re-educating fertile women who have broken the gender and social laws. Needing fertile Handmaids, Gilead gradually increased the number of gender-crimes. Handmaids are generally assigned to Commanders, allowed to live in their houses, but remanded back to Aunts' facilities in the event a Commander is deployed in order to be guarded (and returned to the Commander's house upon his return from deployment). Handmaids who successfully bear children to term assist in raising them for a short time, and are then sent away to a new assignment, never to see the child they bore again.
I'm looking to write an in-house story about a Handmaid (YC) assigned to a Commander (MC) and his Wife (MC/Shared). In the series, the Handmaids are often punished for breaking the rules, or stepping out of line. In our story, we would make these punishments less crude and sexualize them slightly. In the books, men inpregnate the Handmaids in a very sterile ritual known as 'The Ceremony': The ritual requires the Handmaid to lie on her back between the legs of the Wife during the sex act as if they were one person whilst remaining completely motionless. The Wife has to invite the Handmaid to share her power this way and everyone remains (almost) fully clothed. They try to uphold that there is no lust.
So what happens when The Commander is tasked with punishing his Handmaid (Handmaid's names are literally changed to Of+Name of the commander: Offred = Of Fred)? Does he enjoy it? And more importantly, does she? Does she value the only physical contact that includes some passion even though it is meant as punishment? Does she loathe it, or invite it? Does it lead to more? Do they cheat on the Commander's Wife? Do the punishments on their own count as cheating, or do they take it further? What if she does get pregnant? Then what? What if they fall in love, or one of them does but not the other?
Included: Forced clotheswearing, BDSM, slavery.
The Involuntary Secretary (do read on, it isn't as clichéd as you might think).
My Character dropped out of college, and already way to high up on the business ladder to have earned it himself working in his father's company. He might even have a couple of friends of his take up positions in the company, all of them rich, entitled... the works. They would be side characters. Your character becomes my characters secretary.
Your character, still in college up until recently, is a queen bee/popular (examples only type. Your character's father has done some unlawful, white collar crime which my character and my character's father are aware of. Insider trading and whatnot ensured the state to freeze all of his assets and the man is tied up in lawsuits from here to kingdom come. However, my character's father takes the high road and allows my character to hire yours even though her father has impacted his business directly because he owes his rival a favor. My character's been snooping however, and he has information that would condemn your character's father to prison for sure; So he holds that over her head. She can either work for him and adhere to everything he commands or daddy goes to prison and his poor queen B sees her money line cut off for good, likely sending her spiralling towards community college at best. He introduces her to the other employees as his girlfriend, and tells them she is very kinky. That explains anything he would put her through in public. Basically it would look consensual to everyone but my character and yours, and it would be excruciatingly sexy.
What does he do to her? Let's decide together. A couple of suggestions: Explicitly boasting about their sexlife to his collegues in her presence. Exposing herself in front of his colleagues. Allowing them to touch her on my characters behest. Clothing control. Underwear checks. Perhaps in front of others. Securing/celebrating business deals by having her jerk off or blow my character's partners. Forced nudity. Forced sex/pleasure. Spanking. Verbal abuse. Partner sharing. Make her have sex or put on a show for/with the maintenance guys. Humiliate her in front of the IT guy all whilst gathering pictures/video to gain even more of a hold on her.
