Cassidy Crane shifted uneasily in the seat of her scout craft as she scanned the surface of the planet.
It had taken her three weeks of breadcrumbs, snippets of information, hints, rumours and whispers that had led her here. Almost six months of hunting down the notorious bio-terrorist who had been responsible for strings of disappearances and crimes across ten star systems.
Very little was known about this shadowy figure save that he was a genius at manipulating and engineering plant and animal into new species and forms. Some had suggested he was even experimenting with hybrid species that were intelligent.
As such, SysDef had sent agents far and wide seeking out this individual in the hopes of bringing him into justice and harnessing his brilliance for the betterment of all.
Cassidy now hung in orbit over the most likely prospect she had had so far. A small planet, barely bigger than earth’s moon, but dense with a gravity of .85 earth normal. The planet had a rich atmosphere, abundant water and was teeming with life. There were a handful of energy signatures, but the most likely prospect was a complex on the southern continent. Her ship was already cloaked with active ECM, but she still decided to make her descent to a point 20 miles from the complex. From there she would navigate the surface and survey the situation from afar.
Slowly, her masked craft descended, easing it’s way through the atmosphere and touching down in a low valley close to the sea. From here it would be a fairly easy hike through the dense jungle.
She tightened the straps on her equipment belt, and slipped a light rucksack on her shoulders. She would travel light and quick, shunning the heavy armour. This was to be reconnaissance only. She activated the camo filter and her skintight suit shifted and changed to match her surroundings. She slipped her pair of Gauss pistols into her hip holsters and set out.
