Alice Liddell had spent the last few years in combinations of therapy, counselling and quiet rest and reflection after the events of her childhood. Of course no one believe the ramblings of a deranged teen. As a result, Alice had little contact with the world, most of her recent experience being hospitals, offices and her family home, far away from real life, work or boys.
Now, at the age of 19, Alice felt secure in the knowledge that it had al been in her head. The final part of her therapy was to confront and mock her past delusions which was why she stood on the same riverbank she had sat on years ago. Her clothing was a deliberate parody of what she had worn. Her long legs clad in white stockings topped off with bows, her blue dress, so similar to the one she had worn.
She walked slowly along until she found what she was looking for, a rabbit hole. As she looked, she saw there was no way a child could have fitted down there. It was all so obvious now. She turned and started off at the view over the river. It was so peaceful here.
She sat down and allowed herself to drink in the sunshine and the warm summer air. This was a lovely place. She closed her eyes and leaned back against the riverbank.
A few moments later, her eyes shot open as she felt a tugging at her feet. She looked down and saw her ankles were bound together with what appeared to be tree roots. She squealed and tried to release the roots, but they clung to her tightly and then pulled in a strong sharp motion.
"No! It can't be real!" she squealed as she was pulled towards the rabbit hole which seemed to expand as she clawed at the ground.
Already her ankles were inside the dark hole and she was being pulled so strongly. She tried to hang on but now she could feel the pulling on her entire body, like she was a piece of metal being drawn to a magnet.
"NO!" she cried out. "Not again, help me!"
But there was no one to hear as Alice was dragged back down the rabbit hole.
