Smoke crawled from between Dylan’s lips as he rested his head back against the armrest of the couch he laid on. His legs spilled over the other side and lazily swung back and forth. Both his eyebrows shot up when he heard a door creak. The slouched figure of a skinny girl walked out and straight into a chair. With a loud huff, she dropped down and she rested her head back. A frown tied her brows together above closed eyes and her nose wrinkled.

“Is that pot?” She straightened herself as she looked at the man across from her.

Grey blue eyes stared at the joint between his fingers before he shot Jesse a confused frown.
“Is that a question?” He arched a brow.

Jesse sighed and she rubbed the bridge of her nose.
“I just woke up okay, fuck off,” her hoarse voice grumbled under her breath.

“Long night?” He asked as he took another drag.

Jesse grabbed the armrest of the chair and she pushed herself up.
“Now who’s asking stupid questions?” She said through a half grin as she leaned over the coffee table between them and she snatched the joint. With a bewildered expression, Dylan shot up before he growled softly.
“Don't you start with me!” Jesse growled back before she took a long drag. She rolled her eyes and handed it back before she slowly exhaled. Dylan swung his legs from the couch and back on the ground before he put the joint back in the ashtray and he picked up a beat up pack of cigarettes from a sticky table. From the corner of his eyes, he watched Jesse walk to the kitchen. The fridge lit half of the room, the other half was lit by light that strayed around haphazardly closed curtains. Dylan flicked his thumb down the lighter and he took a long drag before he laid it down in the ashtray as well. The second one he picked up he kept and a cloud of smoke curled from his pierced nose.

Jesse came back with a large bottle of an orange fizzy drink before she sat down in her chair again. She leaned over and swapped the cold bottle for the cigarette. She rubbed her face before she took a long drag.
“Ahw, shit, it’s Wednesday...isn't it?” She softly muttered. Dylan shrugged as he leaned over and he picked up the bottle. Her eyes shot towards Dylan before she frowned.
“Aren't you supposed to be at school?” She slowly leaned in.

Dylan rolled his eyes as he unscrewed the cap and he took a big jug.
“Probably,” he shrugged as she screwed the cap back on.

Probably?” Jesse narrowed her eyes and she arched a brow.

“Fine, fine,” Dylan raised his hands defensively. “I’ll just finish this..” he pointed to the ashtray. “And then I'll go to school,” He said through a half smile.

Jesse rolled her eyes skywards before she leaned back into her chair and she rested her feet atop the coffee table. Dylan did the same as he made himself comfortable. He plucked at the grey chest hairs that sprung up from between the copper ones while he finished his smoke. With a sigh he lifted his legs off the table again before he took the joint hand he took one last drag.

“You can have the rest,” Dylan exhaled as he stood up and he rested the joint back in the ashtray. Jesse’s eyes followed Dylan throughout the tiny apartment as he gathered his things he plopped back on the couch, this time fully clothed and with a backpack in his hand. The other one held a small plastic bottle of eye drops.

“Isn't it super sunny?” Jesse turned her face towards the window and squinted into the light around the curtains. Dylan shook his head.

“Nah, not really, but I really don't feel like having the teachers nag be because I'm wearing sunglasses indoors,” he sighed as he leaned his head back and he squeezed a few drops into his eyes. Jesse snickered and she picked up the bottle of soda.

“Aren't I just glad I don't have to go to school anymore,” she grinned and she unscrewed the cap.

“Fuck off will you?” Dylan groaned as he blinked owlishly. The liquid dripped down his face before he wiped himself clean.

“That tormented by having to go to school eh?” Jesse softly laugh.

Dylan rolled his eyes. “You’ve got no idea,” he said as he stood up and he swung his bag over his shoulder.

“See ya,” Dylan half-heartedly raised his hand.

“Bye,” Jesse waved her fingers alongside a broad smirk.

He closed the door behind him before he walked down the stone stairs in empty hallways to the bottom floor. As soon as he pushed passed the main entrance his eyes narrowed as the sun nearly blinded him. By the time he reached the school, the parking lots were filled, the front yard was empty aside from a few janitors. The two men were talking while having a smoke. Dylan could feel their eyes on him as he walked through the main entrance. On autopilot, he walked towards the stairs and he climbed them towards his first class. The small darkly haired woman in front of the class didn't miss a beat of what she was talking about when Dylan walked in without a word. Her eyes followed him to the back of the room where he sat down. A few other students looked up or snickered but little attention was paid to him.

“How nice of you to finally join us mister Byrne,” She said after she finished her story and Dylan cringed.

“Why always the last name?” He raised his hands in a pleading manner.

“We have about ten minutes of our first hour left,” She looked at her wristwatch and back to Dylan.

“But since the topic of today is werewolves, I’m sure you can give us plenty of insight,” She smiled sweetly and Dylan huffed as he crossed his arms over his chest before he sunk down into his chair. A frown tied his brows together as he suddenly noticed something. His nostrils flared as sniffed the air, a puzzled frown painted his face as he tried to make sense of a new scent. The clear voice of his teacher was watered down to background noise before the loud sound of the bell snapped him back in reality.

Tom's head jerked up at the sound of the bell, eyes opening in a flutter of rapid blinking before he remembered where he was. The bright, too bright, green eyes darted around classroom before he actually let himself roll the stiffness out of his broad shoulders. Didn't look like anyone noticed, or at least noticed enough to care, that he'd fallen asleep. He hadn't been asleep for that long anyway. He could remember the professor's lecture. Some of it at least. Mostly just the start of it. In bits and pieces.

He huffed out a laugh as he stretched his arms up over his head as he stood. Well, at least he'd made it to the right classroom. It didn't really matter if he slept through his 'Introduction to the Supernatural Species 101' in the end did it? He still thought it was damn stupid thinking to require him to take it anyway. The class was obviously supposed to be for the human students. He was born and bred in one of the hottest paranormal centers in the world. He was betting that he wouldn't learn a goddamn new factoid all semester. And there was no way in nine hells that they'd cover the strange, aberrant cross-section of classification that he fell into anway. He was perfectly capable of handling himself anyway. Momma'd seen to that right-quick. What was some old-world white lady gonna teach him that he didn't already know?

They'd just lump him in with the rest of the dogs anyway.

He towered over the other students as he gave his neck muscles a stretch left, right and then back to center. Working out any of the kinks that might have tried to worm their way into his muscles thanks the unfortunate combination of his boring-ass class schedule and jet lag. At this point he should have rightly been over the travel and time change grogginess, but he figured he could probably stretch out the excuse for the rest of the week at least. He could probably come up with something better by that time. Or at least hope that one of his classes was actually interesting enough to merit staying awake.

"Ha, and of course Dylan was late again."

"Yeah. Why even show up if there's only 10 freaking minutes left of class?"

Tom caught the catty lines of conversation from two girls as they walked past his desk on their way out of the room. He grimaced at the high-pitched chatter but followed the flippant gesture that one of them made to the other. That must have been the reason that the professor hadn't caught him dozing, more important people to nag.

He laughed to himself when his eyes found the guy that had to be Dylan. He looked exactly like the type that'd be late too.

Well, good to know that some things didn't change across an ocean.

Shouldering his bag and not having to take the time to put anything back into it since he hadn't even bothered getting a pen and a notebook for this stupid class he worked his way to the aisle from between the line of desks. Easier said than done for someone his size. It was a wonder, really that he'd fit in the desk at all. At least this dumb intro class had enough open seats that he'd been able to find three spots that were unoccupied in the back corner. People tended to get angry if you sat your 6'6" ass in the middle of the first three rows or so. Not that he really cared if anyone could see the board, but it also seemed that the corners of the room were better for catching a quick nap unnoticed too.

Students were milling about and taking, of course, for-fucking-ever to get out of the damn room. When he finally shuffled his way through to the back of the room, with the usual amount of 'Is that the american guy?'s and 'Big mother fucker inn't he?'s the Dylan kid was still off in some kind of lala land.

High probably.

Tom shouldered past the herd once he could make a break for the damn door and some fresh air. When he was within arm's reach of Dylan, which wasn't to say they were all that close, Tom's wingspan was almost as long as he was tall. He clapped the kid on the shoulder and offered a deep, rumbly baritone thanks.

"Thanks for winning the bad student of the day award. Good luck with the streak."

His accent was as distinctive as anything else about him, thick and drawling like no one else's he'd met here, but of course common as anything back home.

Classes drained and conversations spilled into the hallways as the doors opened. Dylan pulled his bag back over his shoulder as he slowly pushed himself out of his seat. He yawned as he followed the crowd. The words of the few students in front of him had him arch a brow and slowly he leaned closer. Before he could ask anything a shadow grew over him and Dylan turned around at the feeling of eyes in his neck. He jumped when a hand landed on his back and quickly he spun a one-eighty. His head slowly tilted back as his eyes trailed up to the top of the man. Dylan’s jaw slacked at what he saw and his eyes grew wide at the sight of the man that stood taller than him. Wide eyes narrowed as the man continued and he cocked his head to the side.

“Yeah, mum, told me I could be anything so I decided to be a waste of space,” He dryly said as he caked on his own foreign accent even thicker.

“Actually I wanted to be the best cocksucker in the world, and I could’ve gone pro if it wasn’t for the clap,” He continued in the same unfazed manner as he plucked a long red dyed hair from his blue sweater.

He followed the string of students through the straight hallway that ran straight across the school. The parade of people left little room for movement outside of the core direction. They passed the last classroom door which opened, showed the space to be empty. Instead, the large glass walls of the library showed shelves with books and students that sat down around tables, or behind computers. On the other side, Dylan looked over the waist-high wall down into the cafeteria that was placed smack bang in the middle of the building. Dylan’s nose itched and he cringed; perfume, deodorant, soaps, food, body odours...most of which the mysterious man-scent that oozed next to him. The stream split in two as it met with the onslaught of students that came from the other side of the building. Few people went left into the library while most went down the stairs across from it.

Heavy boots stomped a steady rhythm down the stairs and a few faces looked up into the open staircase. Soft chuckles erupted while other more shocked faces averted their eyes. He bit his lip as he tried to suppress a smirk, but it happened every time his kilt fluttered up with his legs. Dylan knew what he did when he accused the board of racism after they raised some concerns with his particular choice of clothes. When the last semblance of walls disappeared, so did the order and the single stream immediately scattered as soon as feet touched the ground. From the corner of his eyes, Dylan curiously ogled the stranger that still walked next to him.

“But..” He nodded his head up and frowned at the stranger with narrowed eyeshadow. “You a yank or something?” He asked with an arched brow. To Dylan’s surprise, he was probably only ten centimetres smaller. As soon as they stepped through the large glass doors, Dylan pulled his bag off his shoulder. He fiddled with the zipper of the worn out thing before the sound of something that ripped rushed through the air. The zipper finally gave and the bag fell open. The first thing that leaned out was a four pack, behind that, one, two, three books and further mostly wrinkled paper with hen-scratches on them. Dylan ripped the plastic before he took out a pint and he held it under his armpit and he dug through his bag again. A path in the grass started to show as Dylan made his way to his favourite bench. He sat down with his bag beside him on one side before he sat his pint down on the other. Copper eyebrows shot up when he found a pack of fags and with the same struggle he closed his bag again.

Tom laughed at Dylan's response. It was a noisy, carefree sound that marked him out as an American as much as the southern drawl and the way his rounded syllables flowed freely and lazily into their neighbors. Plus, his tendency to be the biggest mother fucker, with an even worse bite than bark, had never done any good to instill decorum in him. Certainly he'd been a bit of a momma's boy back home, but who wouldn't when the woman could sling real curses as freely as she did metaphorical ones.

Not that she'd ever actually cursed anyone, or would. That was dark magic. His momma was a damn saint and he'd punch the unfortunate shit stain who suggested otherwise.

Dylan was a ballsy fucker he'd give him that... It wasn't as if Tom had anything better to do, so he followed after the fleckly bastard through the milling student crowds. He certainly couldn't lose him very easily with that hair. Maybe that was the point. He'd never bothered with anything more than close-crop with his.

And of course part of him was more than a little curious about that blow job claim.

The fact that Dylan was a paranomal cousin (once or twice removed maybe) didn't even cross his mind. For all the things his wolf form did give him, extra senses in his human one weren't on the list. Magic worked different than genetics. Worked different than a lotta things. His green eyes were sharp enough on their own to catch the glint of something shiny and alcoholic and he was willing to considering this a worthwhile adventure already.

"It's funny how y'all use that word over here." He replied around another laugh.

Tom didn't bother asking for a spot on the bench, his jeans were a dark wash that could stand up to sitting on some grass. Made it easy to snag the beer that Dylan had set out too, while he fiddled with his zipper trying to close his broken bag back up. He cracked it open. Stealing it made it taste good enough, even warm.

He downed most of it in the first few swallows, even the pint all but wrapped in his big, long-fingered hand. "Ain't no one from back home that'd call me a yank of any kind."

The first warm day of the year drew out more people than usual. Girls showed off their new summer clothes, a couple of guys kicked a ball back and forth. People had a smoke and talked about how their weekend was, what their plans were, the dates for the first barbecues of this season. Two grass fields were separated by a single path along which benches were sprinkled. In front of the school, there was another row of benches pressed up against the grass that looked out over the entire yard and the street attached to it. Tucked away in a corner near the parkinglot, underneath a large oak tree, was Dylan’s bench. With it’s back up against the street.

From the corners of his eyes, Dylan looked at him when realised they continued their joined path. His mouth disappeared into a thin line and his eyes narrowed. Dylan hummed.
“You think? It’s weird that you people use ‘motherfucker’ that often, what kind of fucked-up implications are those?” He muttered as the man as he sat on the grass. His eyes grew wide with horror when he heard something very familiar. With eyes like saucers, he stared as someone took his pint. A low growl grew loud in the back of his throats before he freed his hands. The pack of fags was hastily thrown atop of his bag.

“What the fuck do you think you're doing?!” He yelled and his voice rose in pitch. He leaned forwards and tried to snatch the pint back and he bared teeth when he failed.

The commotion had caused a few heads to look up from the fields in front of them. Voices faded from the crowd and were replaced by whispered question.

Dylan dived out of his bench as he tackled Tom to the ground. He grabbed the man’s shoulders and head-butted Tom in the process, not entirely intentional before he got a face full of dirt and grass. Quickly he straightened himself and he pushed himself back. Bare skin pressed back again jeans when Dylan straddled Tom’s hips. He reached out and snatched the pint back. Dylan down the rest with large gulps before he cracked the can and threw it towards the man underneath him.

“Where the hell do you get off thinking it's fine to take another man’s beer?! You're not my fucking girlfriend, or are you?!” He barked.
