Luna 'Hawke[/SIZE]' ]
Luna had been born into a section of the lower level merfolk, meaning that her family had to work for everything they had. When Luna turned of age, one of the Princes had taking a liking to her. It didn’t take long for him to request for her in marriage. The choice, of course, fell to her parents. The men protected their people and were revered, whereas women were known for gathering food, looking after the children and rather firm human female roles. Luna had assumed one had learned from the other, or they were more alike than anyone assumed.
It had been days since she’d had the news of her husband to be, of course, her family was overjoyed. They would be lifted in status. They were thinking that their daughter would be thrilled at the idea of being a Princess, and that she would welcome all of the riches and changes that it would bring. They didn’t even stop to think if it was what she truly wanted. They believed it was in her best interests, so that was that. Luna, on the other hand, wasn’t as happy as they assumed. In fact, she was angered. Not only did she want to make her own choices, but she wanted to explore the land above. Luna wanted to live a different life than she’d been given. It wasn’t ungratefulness, but the curiosity and need to explore.
A swift glisten of magenta began to trickle through the sun lit waves, dipping and diving deeper before breaching the surface once more. The waves were fairly soft, barely making an impact on her drifting figure. As the legends said, merfolk did have a rather long fish-like tail. They came in all shapes and sizes. Luna’s tail was a light magenta, turning a glisten of purple as she moved within the sea. It wasn’t uncommon for scales of merfolk to glisten and shimmer, changing their colours to some extent. Their bodies were usually covered in scales, which could be brought to their flesh at will. Other than that, their abilities were fairly limited. The legend of a siren song was true, but usually it was used to summon a mate, as opposed to luring men to their deaths.
Luna continued to brush up to the surface, trying to take note of everything she saw. Some of her kind had been known to slip onto human’s boats and had been able to slip off into the town unnoticed. Or so she’d been told. That was her plan, to find a boat and hide until they hit land. Of course, she could go searching herself. The sea was vast and deep, there’s no telling how long it would take her to find her goal, not to mention she could be noticed at any time by her people. Luna wanted to disappear, she wanted to cast aside all of her previous ties. Even if it meant just leaving, no notice, no words. It seemed the best way.
Soon enough, her prayers were answered. The sound of an engine filled her ears, immediately causing her to dive down into the depths as she waited. Slowly, the woman began to trail the boat, managing to sink down underneath the object and keep herself hidden from view. It had taken some practice, but she’d learned to hide her form from fishermen. Much to her surprise, the boat was coming to a stop. The mermaid swam about to the side of the vessel, it seemed the captain was busy toward the front of the boat. With ease, Luna reached up and began to hook her fingers around the metal stairs. It had been so long since she’d allowed her body to be out of the water, the change was definitely frightening. Her legs almost felt like jelly, shaking a little as she climbed up onto the boat as silently as she could muster.
Without hesitation, the woman scurried down into the lower deck, finding a place to hide. Her naked, bare frame caused her to halt for a moment. She needed clothing, humans wore clothing. Without being in the water, her powers were stunted. The only power that worked was the siren song, and she did not need that. The woman began to rummage until she found a spare t-shirt and a pair of swimming shorts. The swimming shorts didn’t fit too well, and neither did the shirt. Nevertheless, the woman kept the clothing on before she began to search for a decent hiding spot. Long, wet black strands trailed down along her back, providing even more droplets of water from her frame down onto the floor. It was her own mistake when she slid slightly on the slick floor, causing her to fall against the side of the boat, causing a loud thud through the vessel. A few oaths left her lips as she began to panic. She needed a place to hide, and fast.
