Kaa'tarr was a shimmering oasis in the middle of a dune sea. It's clay and stone buildings stood juxtaposed against the sand of the desert around it. A river, the Niser, ran through the city and was one of the few sources of fresh water for miles around. That fact alone made it a powerful city in the Principality of Maluk, a group of cities ruled by a collection of princes at the capital of Ankar. Like many other governments, the Maluk had joined the ever growing coalition of powers that stood opposed to the Demon Lord as such, any adventurers were welcomed.

The city was abuzz with life as merchants plied their wears in the open air market and songs could be heard coming from the many inns and taverns of the city. The people of Kaa'tarr were followers of a rather hedonistic religion as well...their priest and priestesses could often be seen "making communion" in the open with no shame. Indeed, if one were lacking funds, Kaa'tarr was the perfect place to come. A bed, food and drink would be provide for anyone, free of charge...as long as they allowed themselves to be considered "Kaa'sers", property of the state religion until they left.

This meant that anyone could have sex with them whenever they pleased, and if they were still around when the ritualistic orgies were preformed, it was expected they join. Despite that, or maybe because of it, Kaa'tarr had become a popular city for all kinds of people looking to explore their more devious and hedonistic side...

Kaa'tarr...

They'd debated long and hard over this stage of their journey. Only a handful of cities existed to break up a crossing of the great eastern sands and Kaa'tarr was by far the largest and best equipped of the lot. They would need to stay for at least one day to pick up travelling supplies and prepare themselves for the latter half of the sand trails. Ylasa, their bard, had been looking forwards to the prospect of staying in such a city and appreciated it's reputation for the finer pleasures of life but while she'd advocated to stay 'a week, three days at least, to see the sights you know?' Had been shut down by the others.

Pharis in particular had been rather adamant about it, particularly due to her own pride in her strength and skill in battle while Syndara had been merely opposed, citing that carnal revelries -while entertaining- were not the sort of thing that she would want to invite everyone to.

In the end they had decided, they would stay one day, plus one night as a sop to Ylasa's sensibilities. The bard declared that Pharis could stand to get laid anyways, a fight nearly broke out in the camp, but in the end, they had all -some more grudgingly than others- decided they would take up the free shelter and meals the city offered in exchange for their bodies. After all, while one could refuse and pay their way through the city, things were rather hideously expensive compared to other places, and while as adventurers they had more gold than some, they did not quite have the cushion to absorb such a price as well as perform the supply shopping they would need.

"So, do we have to go to the temples or something? Or will they do it at the gates?" Pharis grumbled as they approached Kaa'tarr's walls, looking positively mulish while Ylasa giggled. "I don't know, but I look forward to finding out..."
