For those of you interested in the genre of fan-fiction, National Public Radio's "1 A" is airing/has aired a 50-minute discussion on fan-fiction, its influence, and some legal issues tied to playing in someone else's sandbox.
It airs at 11 a.m. EDT on NPR, though it depends on your local NPR affiliate station as to whether they air it. If not, or if you miss it, here is the link, and they will have the podcast available later in the day for you to listen.
"1A: Fans and Fan Fiction"
The only thing I'd like to add is this: It's saying something of how important what we're doing here is to the writing, fan-fiction, and fandom community when fan-fiction is being seriously discussed by a major media news outlet. It's not a "ha-ha look, these folks aren't real writers," it's a very serious discussion on how important fan-fiction has been in supporting, spreading, and keeping fandom going, as well as helping writers write.
