Alexei woke up and groaned as he felt his head, with a wince of pain. Apparently being blind doesn't give you a pass from being beaten by those you insult. It also doesn't leave you off the victim's list for 'muggable.' His sharp tongue had gotten him into trouble before, but it had never gotten him physically assaulted. He winced as he sat up and felt around, grass. He was in the field, that much he knew, and he began to forget less and less about the pain and began to worry more and more about where he was. His hands felt the ground around him to feel the cool, damp blades of grass against his fingers.
He slowly raised himself onto his hands and knees and began to crawl, for the first time in what felt like forever he felt helpless because he was blind. The only knowledge of his situation that he had was that he was missing his cane, he had NO idea where he was, and that his glasses were nowhere to be found as well. He reached into his back pocket, and found nothing. He groaned again, though this time not in pain, but in frustration. He punched the ground, and gave up on his frustration, letting it give way to cynicism. He put on a snark smile and hoped the muggers enjoyed the ten dollars and seventy cents he had in his wallet. He kept most of his money at home, as well as some spare identification, yet he'd still have to replace some of the things taken from him.
Alexei looked like a complete idiot, yet he didn't know it. He crawled around in what was the grass of a high school football field. It was the summer, and there was not a soul around, or so it seemed. The light rain was transforming slowly into a downpour, as the light clouds above were turning darker by the second. He shivered slightly as the rain began to soak through his already saturated jacket. He cursed himself for wearing the black wool jacket he had that day, instead of his damn good rain one. He also cursed the inaccurate weather forecast, the God he didn't believe in, the people that left him in his current helpless state, his blindness, the grass for being wet, the clouds for raining. He was cursing anything he could as he continuously struggled along, working his way in what he hoped was the right direction. He was afraid, but what could he do? He could be crawling towards a cliff, he could be crawling towards safety, he had no clue. But for now, he was just going to crawl.
