Tesla pulled herself out of the passenger side of her friend's red Camaro. They'd gone out to hang out for a bit after school, so she would be getting in a little later than her younger brother. Still, not too bad. Blowing the hair out of her face, she readjusted the shoulder-strap of her bag before she started inside, waving at her friend as she peeled down the street. She was a senior in high school, nearly halfway through her year and she was tired. Senioritis was setting in, especially since the weather seemed to be getting crappier and all she really wanted to do was sleep through the day. But, she had other things to keep her at least moderately busy...
She stepped up the driveway and took her keys from her pocket and opened the front door. No car in the driveway meant no older brother home yet - which she expected, he should be at work for the next couple of hours, two or three at most. He was the one that really kept the family together and in the house that their parents had left them. Four years her senior, he was the real man of the house, someone hardworking but great to be around. Closing the heavy door behind her she walked in a few paces, past the staircase and into the kitchen. She dropped her bag down onto the counter and moved to the cabinet for a cup. Tesla brushed her dark brown curls from her face, running her fingers quickly through them before moving to the fridge to get some water, humming something that had been on the radio in the car to herself, bopping her head a little too.
