At this very moment, Rin Tohsaka was not a happy person. In fact, her school uiform had been ruined, the strap of her heels had decided to snap and her elaborately styled hair now looked more like a deranged bird's nest. She grumbled to herself as she ineffectively tried to brush away as much of the dirt and detritus that she had fallen into. She only succeeded in spreading it around though and threw her arms up in frustration in the end. Rin had no idea where she was or the exact specifics of how she had gotten here, but what she did know was that the ring she had bought from that out-of-the corner antique place had decided to re-enact one of the biggest teleporting fantasy cliches ever and that she also wanted to return back as quickly as possible.
"Why a creepy forest of all places?" She said out loud, glaring at the aforementioned ring settled prettily on her finger. "I could have dropped into the seat of royalty or right into a cute guy's arms, but nope."
She should have known. It was not good to be swayed by easily pretty things. Rin secretly liked looking at shops which sold odds and ends given away by people, and had ditched her friends in favor of one that she had spotted a few days back. She had built up an immunity to their inane chatter, but even she had to take a break from it every once in while. There was only so much of celebrity gossip that a girl could take. In truth, she had not even intended to buy the ring. It had winked beckoningly at her and she had decided to it couldn't hurt to try it on for a while.
And now, here she was.
Not a beautiful land populated by rolling hills and majestic castles, but a dank, humid forest that looked like it lay ahead of every “danger, do not venture forward” path ever. She didn't even know if she should move. Rin stared suspiciously at some of the bubbling spots that looked as if it wanted to drag an unsuspecting walker down at any moment. In the end, she decided that nothing good would come out of standing here uselessly either. Carefully picking her way on the parts of the ground that seemed more stable, Rin slowly made her way forwards.
The scenery around her remained pretty uneventful so far, and after a time, Rin even managed to find a certain charm in her surroundings. It was peaceful here, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and calming too in a way.
Unfortunately, this calm was quickly shattered by the human presences that blocked her path in the next turning.
“Well, well, well, what do we have here?”
Rin’s eyes swept over their disheveled clothing, the leering gazes and the strapped weapons by their sides and knew with a sinking certainty that she had walked right into trouble.
