Pulling her light coat tighter around her frail form, the young woman shivered in the face of the harsh gales whipping the mountainside. Any tears that would've slipped from her eyes were dried before they could even touch her cheeks, and her breath was stolen with every gust of wind.
But why would she be out in such a hellish terrain? She certainly wouldn't be, if given the choice... However, her former friends and family - no, everyone in the town - had tossed her out into the elements. A 'sacrifice' to appease their so-called gods, though the elders had only chosen her out of spite. As a woman who never truly conformed to their beliefs, they saw her as impure, and therefore she was tossed away. Like trash.
Sniffling a bit, she ducked her head and tried to keep her footing as she hid herself in a small grove of vegetation. Anything to get her out of the weather for at least a little while. Though one small misstep sent her tumbling into a large, warm patch of flattened grass - a temporary nest of sorts... But what exactly had created such a large nest? Well, whether she liked it or not, the sound of footfalls approaching her signaled she'd find out shortly.
