In a world similar to ours, there are three classes, The Upper Class, the Lower Class and slaves. The Upper Class consists of people who have over $10,000,000. The Lower Class consists of people under who have under $10,000,000. The slaves were the property and sometimes mates of the Upper Class. The slaves became slaves one of two ways. One way was by becoming bankrupt and sold into slavery. The other way was being captured in an event called The Taking. Every year, during a twelve hour period from 6 PM to 6 AM anyone from the Upper Class can choose to take anyone from the Lower Class and make them their slave.

Ryan was a self-made millionaire. Due to some great investments, he was able to make a lot of money and retire early. He build a cabin in the woods with all the amenities, full electricity, Satellite TV and Internet. He also raised chickens and planted a garden for food. He only went to town once a week to get other food. He enjoyed his life but he missed having female companionship. So, he decided to take advantage of the upcoming Taking and find a woman to make her his mate.
He packed his stuff and headed to a city, a good distance from his cabin. He walked around the office buildings to look for the woman he wanted for his mate. He always had a thing for women in business suits. To him, they looked very sexy and smart, plus it would be fun to take a woman who's used to being in charge of her own life and force her to become a mountain man's wife and the mother of his children. He didn't stand out, he looked like a regular tourist taking pictures of the big city.
