David trolled through the stacks, though in truth he wasn't really paying the books much attention. He'd retreated to the campus library after spotting Judy McElvoy across the quad, all wrapped around the jock quarterback while they played kissy-face, utterly oblivious to everything around them. Especially him.
He sighed, letting his fingers drag along the spines as he wandered down the aisles. Judy was the hottest girl at school, and there wasn't a guy on campus who didn't lust after her a bit. They'd had a couple classes together, but she still didn't know he existed. It was depressing as hell, even though he knew he didn't have a right to feel snubbed like he did. It was just...every time he saw her, he felt his heart skip a beat. He'd do anything to be with her, just have her notice him him for once in his life...just to spend five minutes alone with her....
His fingers brushed across something that felt out of place, and it was odd enough to pull him out of his reveries. David turned to look at what he'd touched, and discovered a strange-looking parchment wedged between a couple of texts on 19th Century Philosophers. His brow furrowed with curiosity as he pulled it out, feeling the thick rich vellum against his skin. It was covered with bizarre markings and runes, but as he opened it up and flipped through the pages, one heading jumped right out at him.
He almost laughed at that, as he read the words below. A spellbook, probably stashed here by some poor Wiccan girl making love potions or something. A waste of time. He almost set it back on the shelf...but something stayed his hand. David unzipped his backpack and slid it inside, before heading for the door on his way home. Maybe it would be good for a few laughs...

It was back at the house...and several beers later...that David opened up his backpack and pulled out the manuscript, and started reading it over. It was still ridiculous...but late at night, when you're all alone in the dark, what seems crazy in the light of day no longer sounds quite as insane. A lot of it didn't make sense to him, but he had on hand the things the ritual required. Why not? he thought with a chuckle. Not like I have anything to lose...
It only took a few minutes to find the candles and draw the pentagram, as he knelt before the symbol, stumbling over the strange words he was supposed to utter.
"Voco super te: Percepit Asmodeus, ut det mihi quod desiderat anima mea..."
