Over the vast years, her tale had been twisted unfavorably. Human kind had forgotten what dragons were really like. As kingdoms fell and rose again, her tale had quickly made her a prisoner.
You see, years ago, she was the princess to a booming kingdom. Like every kingdom, they resided in the territory of a great dragon. They made daily offerings of gold and good to show their appreciation for the land. Dragons ruled and controlled nearly every inch of territory in the world. When humans started settling down and creating villages and kingdoms, they had to get permission from the lands residing dragon. It was a standard and normal fact of life. Over the years the dragons acquired vast amounts of wealth. However, she had never been drawn to his wealth. Their relationship had started and was fostered by their shared love of dancing.
Every year, their kingdom had hosted a festival to celebrate the day they had gotten permission to reside in the dragons lands. Of course the guest of honor the dragon had always been invited and welcomed. Ever since she was a little girl, she had danced at the festival. At first people had found it cute to watch her clumsily follow along with the other beautiful dancers. Then she blossomed into an elegant jewel. After every dance she would take her place with her family next to the dragon. Eventually, love bloomed between the two and she abandoned her place on the throne to be with him. However, her kingdom had fallen and the story of the princess who had been taken prisoner of her heart, turned into her being the prisoner of the dragon. It didn't bother her that much though. He had woven her life to exist as long as his own did. Her home was with him and in his bed. She wouldn't have it any other way. However, every once in a while, there was one small annoyance.

"Dragon! I have come to challenge you to save the life of the princess you keep locked away and your bounties of riches.", the brave, foolish knight shouted. Iris barely contained the sigh of aggravation. He looked so shiny. His armor was decorated with medals and various trinkets of honor. Bored, her eyes cast to the side where other pieces of armor and trinkets were. Better had come, better and from further lands. This fight would be over quickly.
He didn't stand a chance against her love. Once it was done and his body was nothing but ashes, she looked over to her love and said,"Another foolish knight drawn in by that stupid rumor. How did it even turn out that way in the first place?" She stood and tucked her short ebony hair behind her ear. Then she continued as she maneuvered the mountains of gold and riches,"Though I think that one was more focused on the riches. Still, one would think that to go after a being who has been around since before the age of man would be a suicide mission... Are you alright, my dearest?" Finally, she had found a path safely down to the floor with the help of keeping herself stable using him. Once she was on the floor she ran her hand along his body as she walked in front of him as she asked,"Are you alright, my dearest? He didn't hard you with that sword did he?" Another dragon slayer, still, a few times they had come with weapons that could actually pierce his scales. It had scared her badly the first time it had happened. Even now she could still see the few scars on his body from those fights.
