Jason was very plain. Average build, light brown hair, greenish hazel eyes, standing at a very average 5' 9", there was only one thing about him that was a bit weird compared to his college schoolmates. He was obsessed with anthros and anthro culture. And while anthros weren't unheard of in his country, they certainly weren't common. Most anthros stuck to Xanastia, their island nation where they originated due to millions of years of evolutionary isolation. However, thanks to the internet Jason was able to look up Xanastian culture, among other things (he would rather die than admit to his friends that one of his top google searches was fat booty Xanastian femboys). But to him it seemed like just a dream, for while the Xanastian citizens weren't overtly anti-immigrant, they favored to keep to their own kind and only tolerated foreigners in the more metropolitan areas of their nation where tourism helped keep the local economies flush with cash.
However, it seems that the tides might be changing, for a university in Xanastia started taking volunteer students to share their housing with a select group of humans who volunteered to study abroad at their university for a total of six months. Jason's university, to his absolute joy, happened to be chosen, and he practically ran over a couple of freshman girls as he sprinted to the sign in sheet that his teacher was handing out to the students. After a month had passed, he received a notification in the mail that he would be paired up with a 20 year old Xanastian male who's name was Desi, and it came complete with a head shot of Desi, and a one page essay typed by Desi outlying his interests, and how he was excited to learn more about other cultures. Jason quickly replied, taking a head shot with his phone, having it developed and attached to his own essay, where he practically drooled about how he was obsessed with Xanastian culture for years and that this opportunity was like a dream come true.
But now, three months later, everything had been finalized, and his day of reckoning had come. He had poured over Xanastian language phrase books to hopefully show that he at least put some effort in learning their language while he was there, and he was able to speak it enough to ask where bus station XY was, as that's where he would supposedly be picked up by his new Xanastian roommate. He made his way over there, his bags of luggage in tow. He looked around nervously, hoping his new roommate hadn't forgotten he was there.
